You are not alone, I actually had the same response "response within 60 days and security checks needed.."

My case was also received on November 30, 2015. And on an even the worst situation as my ID/Driver's license is expiring next moth and theres no way i can renew it without my GC

If it helps, my approval letter was dated about 50 days after I was told to expect a response within 60 days.

    Best of luck!

  2. I am very excited to say that my wife found a letter in the mail from USCIS today saying that my removal of conditions has been approved. My initial NOA was November 17th 2015, I received no RFE or interview request, and the letter was dated January 30th 2017. The website has not updated my status yet.

I wish everyone who is waiting the best of luck. You don't want to hear it from me now, but when you get the approval to stay with your partner and to stay in the country it is a wonderful feeling, and it's really something to look forward to. Embrace the wait because it makes the result that much sweeter.

Any advice friends? I see Lamby11 has the same concern. Thank you.

It's tricky, and USCIS doesn't seem to be consistent on this. A Tier 2 officer told me over phone that you should go by the receipt date, but an InfoPass officer wouldn't stamp my passport with the I-551 until I was within 30 days of the Green Card expiration date.

my thoughts to you would be to book an InfoPass within 30 days of the date on your Green Card, UNLESS you need to leave the country between your receipt expiration date and your Green Card expiration date, in which case you should try your luck at getting the stamp before your receipt date expires. I'm no lawyer though, so if someone who actually knows the law inside and out tells you otherwise you should go with their advice.

Have you sent an online request for update? I received a letter in mail dated the day after I sent a request, saying it was approved.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks!

They replied in mid-December to my service request that I should get a response within 60 days of that date and that they apologized for the delay. I didn't make the request online though, it was after talking with a Tier 2 officer.

Thanks! Hmmmm.. I tried the other receipt number and got this notice:

On January 29, 2016, we received your Form CRI-89, Petition to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status Received, Receipt Number EAC**********, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by February 28, 2016, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Yup, that's the message I've come to know and love so well haha. You'll see it ten times a day until it changes. Welcome to the club!

And to your question on getting the I-551 stamp, most InfoPass agents will only stamp your passport within 30 days of the 1 year anniversary of your physical Green Card expiring. So try to book an InfoPass appointment that month.

I'm getting a bit worried about my case (receipt date 01/29/16) - every time I try to enter my receipt number from my I-797 extension letter in to the USCIS case status thing on the website it just says my receipt number is invalid. I'm omitting all dashes as the website recommends and including the EAC part as well as all the following 10 numbers. Anyone have any idea why this is happening? Everyone else seems to get a different message than I do..

I also still haven't been to get a stamp in my passport as I had hoped I might receive my card any day now. I assume I should make an appointment soon and go to do that? It seems frustrating to have to drive all the way there given that I should receive my card any day now, but better safe than sorry right?

    Many thanks.

Don't worry, there's probably nothing wrong with your case. Every case has two receipt numbers - one is on the biometrics notification and one is on the 1 year extension receipt.

Use the receipt number from the biometrics notification.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Dembele

Had your extension letter expired? I was under the impression that you do not need the stamp if your letter is still valid? The reason I ask is because I am travelling next week with the valid extension letter and expired GC.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Last week I traveled with the I-551 stamp and the expired extension letter.

Earlier in 2016 I traveled with the expired green card and the valid extension letter, also without any problems.

I suspect the border agents are seeing a TON of these right now.

Do you have stamp on your passport?

Did the USCIS take your plastic green card when they issued you the stamp?

    Yes and yes.

I still have the 1 year extension receipt which I showed alongside the I-551 stamp. It's definitely worth bringing along as additional evidence.

I should also mention that my experience at the border was easier than I've heard from others. Many people have reported being taken for additional screening in a side office. I think it depends on the airport.

    Hello all,

Just saw the official processing time table was updated a couple of days ago and now it says 15 December 2015. So it is way past our month.

I am worried now as i haven't received anything after Notification letter for the biometrics appointment.. i had to created a case through the online tool as i haven't been able to schedule an infopath as there's no dates available and keeps telling me to check on a later day.

Is this normal? What else i can do?

Hi KLTEAM, I'm in the same situation as you, and I think there are a couple of other November filers on here still waiting without any communication since biometrics too.

For InfoPath, I never had trouble with it because my city is well stacked with agents, but it varies by location. Other members of the site have recommended checking the InfoPath site at midnight as that's when they refresh available slots.

Good luck, and please keep in touch with your progress!

    Hello!

I've been waiting for the decision since Nov.17, 2015. It's been a loooong journey!

I just have a question and I hope you can help me.

I've received the I-551 stamp (until: 10/30/2017) and my I-751 form is still pending. My friend is getting married abroad (in March) and I'd love to attend the wedding. I'm not sure if I should travel or not? I'd like to buy a ticket soon. What do you think? The USCIS officer told me that I can work and travel, but I don't want to take any risk.

Last summer, I booked a trip to Puerto Rico (June) and my lawyer told me to cancel it (just in case) because my extension letter was about to expire (in Nov. 23). I was shocked but I wanted to be safe and I cancelled my trip.

Have you been in such a situation? I would really appreciate your help.

Hi Ewelina. I also filed on 11/17/2015 through an attorney and I have not had a decision or RFE yet, so I hope you're comforted that you're not alone in this extremely long wait.

I had no intention of leaving the US on the temporary I-551 (I'm conservative in that regard, but clearly not as conservative as your lawyer!), but sadly my wonderful grandma passed away suddenly last week so I left the US to be with my mom and to attend her funeral. I'll let you know how I get on at the border when I fly back this weekend. Going by other users of this site, I'm expecting to be taken to a side room for additional screening. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

Keep in touch with your progress!

  11. I went to stamp my passport and they did for 6 months and kept my expired GC. Local office IO said my file is with officer. So i will hear soon. My NOA 16 NOV. It sucks that December fillers getting answer but November fillers still waiting

Hi Steve - I got a 6 month stamp in my passport this week too, they also took my Green Card, and they also said that my case is with an officer and that I should hear within six months.

  12. thanks!

    Hi Luke,

I have an update on this question that I posted elsewhere on the forum earlier, but I figured it would be helpful for you to know too.

I have a receipt dated November 17, 2015, and I attended an InfoPass at the start of November to request an extension stamp in my passport. The InfoPass agent told me that the expiration date was 1 year after the date on the green card, and therefore they didn't put an extension stamp in my passport. However, going by a conversation I had with a Tier 2 agent this week, this appears to have been incorrect advice and the incorrect action.

The Tier 2 agent I spoke with this week informed me that the expiration date is 1 year from the receipt date, and he was very surprised to hear that I'd been informed differently at InfoPass. In fact, he informed me that my extension now shows as expired on the USCIS system! Fortunately, he told me, this is not a disqualifying event because the extension stamp is a formality anyway. But if you are to ever leave the country you must ensure that you have a stamp that extends your expiration date beyond the date on the receipt.

There is clearly confusion even within USCIS as to the expiration date on the extension, so my (non-expert) advice would be to request a stamp in your passport before the anniversary of your receipt date. I hope this information helps.

  13. It applies to the Expiration date on the GC!

  14. I attended an InfoPass session last week, thinking that I would need an extension stamp because my NOA is Nov 17, 2015. However, the agent informed me that this isn't the case, and that the 12 month extension is from the expiration date on the green card. She told me that people come in with that question all the time, and didn't give me an extension stamp.

I hope this helps, and if anybody out there had a different experience please let me know!

Also, still no approval for me yet. Can't wait til this process is over!

  15. Hello Everyone

I have been a silent reader of this forum and I'm also a November filer for Vermont location. I haven't heard anything yet and the date when USCIS received my case is Nov 30, 2015. I tried calling USCIS and they are saying that your case is in a queue and will be addressed within 30-45 days. Can anyone please suggest me any actions that i should take at this time or shall i just wait till the end of this month?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Vik

    Hi Vik,

My NOA was dated November 17, 2015 and, like you, I'm still waiting. I spoke with a Tier 2 officer on Monday who informed me that, going by his records, an agent was looking at my application in October which he assured me is a good sign.

I have made an InfoPass appointment for next week where I will request a further one year extension, and I recommend that you look into doing the same. You can make an InfoPass appointment by going to uscis.gov and clicking 'Make an Appointment'. When you attend you should bring all documentation relevant to your case and a valid passport so that they can paste in a note that you have a one year extension.

Good luck with the wait, and try not to go crazy checking the USCIS website all day every day (I'm a fine one to talk  ). There seem to be a lot of us in the same situation.
