  1. I'm so happy we have this Islamabad thread. It answers a lot of questions.

This may have been answered already, so forgive me if it has, but how does the Embassy mail the packets out in Pakistan? Is it done through standard mail, DHL, or what?

We're not at that stage yet, but to be prepared, I need to tell my wife what to look for as her address is somewhat confusing.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi everynone,

My wife just had her interview and she has been approved for visa. I Just like to thank everyone for their help. The Consular said she will be receiving her visa in 3-4 days through Amex by giving her some kind of token receipt. She did give two fingerprints of each hand. (just index finger not the whole hand). I hope she is home before Eid. MashaAllah. Thank you God, May all of you be united soon. This is a CR1 visa.

    Thank you

    Sham

Congratulations! May God bless you with a long prosperous life together!

  3. Hey everyone.

Can you clarify whether the I-134 is required, or is the I-864 just as good?

The reason I ask is that the I-134 requires 3 yrs of income taxes, whereas the I-864 just requires your current salary, correct? I've only been working full-time for the last year, and am in a very steady job and make more than enough income to support my wife, but will it be a problem that I didn't have enough income to pay income tax for the two years prior?

    Thanks!

  4. Ignoring all the consulate/embassy jargon that makes no sense to me :P , here is my next attempt at an update.

    One step at a time!

Please help me get this part perfected, and then I'll move to the post-entrance phase.

Please review it carefully, because I just know my stuff is not completely accurate, especially in the embassy area! And if there is anything I can add to make it even clearer (fees, other docs, etc), please let me know.

    Thanks again everyone.

  5. Hi again!

I'm so glad that my post started a nice little discussion! However, I just realized that you can't edit posts in this forum, so I can't go back and modify my first post with the latest flowchart.

But, here it is, trying to take into account your comments. Captain Ewok, thank you for making a K3 flow on the site. I will try to complete updating mine as well, as it might help some people. :)

    Some more questions:

    1. Am I correct in assuming that the K3/CR1 process is the same after it's been sent to the embassy?

    2. Does the Petitioner have nothing to do once the case is forwarded to the embassy?

    3. Is an Affidavit of Support needed for K3? If so, which form, and when does it need to be submitted?

    4. Is there a way to know exactly what the beneficiary must return in that package, and what needs to be brought to the interview?

Please let me know if I missed anything, or if it's not accurate.

Thank you all so much for helping out!!!

  6. Thank you for your replies.

I wish this post wasnt moved. I never even knew this forum existed, and I'm afraid we won't get much traffic (and consequently help and corrections) over here. Can someone possibly move it back to K3? :(

I would be happy to separate the chart into two flows, but honestly, I'm confused myself about what goes where. Did I mix the two already? If you would be kind of enough to help out, I would be happy to make the updates.

    Thanks again!

  7. Hey everyone.

I have had a bit of a difficult time trying to understand the K3 process. The K1 flowchart seems so simple to follow, but the K3 doesn't seem quite as clear. So I thought I'd do my part and try to create a new flowchart that can help everyone out.

Can you all please help me create this? Attached is my first draft. If anything is wrong, please help me out.

    Also, two immediate questions are:

    1. What happens with the I-130?

    2. What happens after it's sent to the consulate?

Please share your corrections and answers in this thread, and I'll try to update the flowchart every night until it is complete.

Thanks, and I hope this helps others too!

  8. Thank you so much for the reply.

So I wouldn't need to update my G-325a? Won't there then be a mismatch when I send that Affadavit of Support, and they see my current job is not the one listed on the G-325a?

Sorry for being paranoid, but I don't want to do anything that will cause a delay in being with my wife. The process is already wayyyy too long for me to handle!

  9. Hey everyone.

I've sent in my K3 application for my wife and have now begun the waiting game.

I was wondering if I could switch jobs during this time (once, maybe even twice?). I know I read that the govt wants to see you in a steady job as one of the conditions for supporting her. Do you think if I switched (for something better) that it would delay or cause problems with the K3?

On a related note, would I then somehow have to contact USCIS to update my G325a's?

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Hello everyone. I recently got married and have been trying to fill out the K3 (thanks to all the information on this website!) to bring my wife over asap. I have 2 questions that I'm not comfortable with yet.

    • #21. Give last address at which you lived together. - What if we haven't actually lived together? I had to come back immediately after the marriage.
    • #22. It seems like this question is only if your relative is in the U.S. (Complete the information below if your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status). But then there is another part within the same question (If your relative is not eligible for adjustment of status, he or she will apply for a visa abroad at the American consular post in __). Am I supposed to answer that second part?

And lastly, do you know of any other sites with information similar to this one?

    Thank you so much.
