if iam not mistaken, maybe they want the marriage certificate to be sent and just the financial documents to be taken to the interview?
-
Hi,
I recently received a checklist from NVC indicating that my Marriage certificate is not correct and some Financial supporting documents are missing.
The main confusion though for me is that they mentioned at one place that you do not need to submit documents to NVC, to exactly quote the line its written
We reviewed the Affidavit of Support form and supporting financial documents you submitted. While
we will schedule your case for an interview, there is something incomplete or missing. This could affect
the Consular Officer's ability to make a decision on your case.
"If your Affidavit of Support form needs correction:
Fill out a new form online.
Print, sign and send the form to the principal applicant so he or she can take them to the visa
interview. Do not send the updated form to NVC.
If there are supporting documents missing:
Send the missing documents to the principal applicant so he or she can take them to the visa
interview. Do not send the documents to NVC."
But right below this is written
"We cannot accept the marriage certificate document you sent. You must send us the correct document
so we can continue to process your case."
I am confused as to send the New Marraige certificate to NVC or keep it till i get an interview date. Kindly help! -
Hi,
I would like to know if anyone could help me out on this, Can I submit my IV and AOS package to NVC while they are processing my DS-261 as they take 2-4 weeks to process it. Or should I wait till they are finished processing my DS-261 first.
Thank You -
Your wife will fill out form I-864; your father-in-law will file I-864A.
If your father-in-law is not currently employed then just keep in mind that he will need to have assets equal to 5-times the difference between your household income and 125% of the poverty line.
So to summarize, you will need:
- I-864 filled out by your wife.
- Tax Returns + W2 forms or Tax Transcripts for the most recent year (past 3 years is better).
- OPTIONAL, but good to have - 6 most recent paystubs from your wife.
- OPTIONAL, but good to have - Letter from your wife's employer stating what her current salary is.
- Your father-in-law's most recent tax returns + w2 form or Tax Transcripts (past 3 years is better).
- Proof of your father-in-law's assets (statements from his brokerage or bank statements showing his savings, etc.).
Thank you for your answer!

I think both your wife and father-in-law have to fill out an I-864 each. although it's true that your father-in-law is a household member, but in this case, he is a joint sponsor, so he will have to fill out an I-864 himself. otherwise, everything else is correct.
so my father in law has to file an I-864 and an I-864A too?

Hi,
My wife (petitioner) currently works a part time job in US and i don't think she meets the minimum requirement of 125% of the poverty guideline as she works just 3 days a week on 14$ an hour.
So we are thinking to make her father (whom just retired from Intel after 25 years of his service) our co-sponsor,
My question is what are the documents that are needed for a co-sponsor other than the tax returns. And should my wife and father in law file I-864 or I-864A?
Thanks!
p.s. our case is in NVC and they soon will require the affidavit of support document thats why I am really concerned as i do not want our case to be delayed just because of this. -

Hi,
My wife and I filed for I-130 to Phoenix Lock box, My case was transferred to Texas Service Center.
I just received my Notice of Action 2 (NOA2) i.e. approval of my case.
The letter attached has the following statement.
'Your above petition is approved. Your Case has been transferred to NVC, which process the case which needs the consular action, it also determines which consular post is appropriate and then will send your case to that consulate."
Can anyone guide me what is the "Consular action" mentioned there. Also guide me what is the process after the NOA 2 approval and what is a form DS-260
Thank You
