Our kiddos are also dualies and you are correct.  Their US passports are their entry documents and should be the “check-in” documents at the airline counter.

They check out through immigration on their Thai passports (assuming Thailand is like other countries in the region) but check in for the flight on their US passports

    Thank You

In some if not most countries  with formal exit controls, a citizen don’t hat country is expected to exit with that country’s passport.  I would not predict what Thai immigration officers will do when presented with a Thai passport that will obviously expire before the citizen returns.

The airline “should” allow your sob to board based on his USA passport.  However after Spirit Airlines fiasco reported here where an LPR with an endorsed immigration visa was not permitted to board a flight from Cancun to the USA, my confidence in airlines doing the correct thing is zero.

So I share your wife’s concern.

    Thank you

  2. Hello, My wife and 2 children are in Thailand at this time. They will be coming back to the USA in a couple of weeks.

Here is the issue. One of my son’s Thai Passport expires in the middle of Aug and the wife is worried they will not let him travel out of Thailand. I explained that he was born in the USA so they cannot stop them from leaving Thailand (All 3 of them have USA Passports up to date). I’m trying to explain to her that they can leave there and we can update my Son’s Thai Passport at the Thai Embassy after they get here. I told her she just has to show the USA Passport to leave there. When they go back again she will show the Thai Passport to go back there (Yes my Son’s Thai Passport will be updated by than I Hope LoL).

Of coarse friends and family are putting in there 2 baht (Cents) scaring Her.

    Thank You

P.S. All 3 of them have USA Passports and Thai Passports
