  1. After spending two weeks in Vietnam my fiancee Duong's visa and going to the US Consulate two times she received verbal notification that her visa was approved on January 20th. Just checked the State Department Visa tracking system this morning and I can see that her visa was issued by the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City on January 25th. She should be receiving her passport back with her visa sometime next week since EMS-Courier company in Vietnam is closed due to Tet holiday. I am very happy that very soon the two of us will be together in the US.

  2. Hi guys.

I need some help. My fiancée submitted our application for k1. We still haven't had our nao2 and the service centre have had our reply to our rfe 90 days we call every week and get no joy. We request to talk to level 2. Who when they call are rude to my fiancée and then hang up without telling her anything. What do we do we're are now told to wait until the end of January to find out further news. When we don't have any now. This takes our application to 7 months at the end of January. Who can we contact is there a level 3. I was hoping for good news but yet again customer service is missing the word service. Please any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you in advance

    Tajj:

I suggest that your fiancee contacts her local Congressman in the US and ask for help from them. This will bring more attention to your case since USCIS must reply to Congressional inquiries within a specific number of days. Sorry to hear that your fiance visa petition is delayed. It sounds that when USCIS did the name check on your petition a similar name appeared in their search that it is preventing the adjudicator from reviewing your case. Petitions that have names similar to those who are in the FBI Name Check Hit list will experience delays.

  3. I want to get forum members thoughts on "How important is for Petitioner to be at Interview in Vietnam?" Based on what I have read:

Of course we both are in love and want to spend our life together, so I want to be there for interview.

It helps, if petitioner is there at embassy for interview.

Our brief story: We both are in love and want to spend our life together. We are so thankful to find each other. Traveled to Vietnam 2 trips. Engagement in HCM. Now waiting for her to join me in US.

Would be great if others can share similar interview experiences. Your advice and ideas welcome...

    Thanks,

    b6543,

In my opinion it shows to the Consular officer that the relationship that you and your fiancee have is bonafide and genuine that you are there at the visa interview to provide support for your fiancee. Any questions or doubts the Consular officer has about your case will be immediately at the visa interview if you are physically there. Good luck to your and your fiancee in this process. I leave the US for Vietnam on January 10th. My fiancee Duong's visa interview is on Friday January 13th. I will arrive in the morning of January 12th the day before her visa interview. I plan to be in Vietnam until January 23rd waiting for her visa to be given to her. Plan to come back with her to the US.

  4. Hello Everyone!

So I am still waiting for an interview date :( Do you guys know how long that takes? I submitted by DS-160 form 2 nights ago and on the ceac website it says READY, the date was updated 11/30/16. Is it likely I will get a interview date for this month or maybe january ?

    Larrie:

Once your case says ready it normally takes one week or long for the US Consulate to confirm that they have received your approved visa petition. You can always the US Consulate and asked for verification of receipt of your approved visa interview.

Best of luck to you and your fiancee during this process.

You also need to pay the visa application fee before you can schedule an interview. This can be done in the ustraveldocs website.

  5. grats man

    soulstriker,

Thank you so much for the good luck wishes. Just got off the phone with my fiancee Duong and she just told that the US Consulate interview date was changed by the US Consulate to Friday January 13th. :dancing: I guess they think that January 24th is too close to Tet holiday and this is why they changed it. US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City will be closed for Tet holiday from Thursday January 26th through Wednesday February 1st. Will start to look for airfares to Vietnam now. I will be at Duong's visa interview.

    Good luck to you!

    KASH2011,

Duong's visa interview was just moved up to Friday January 13th, 2017 by US Consulate. I guess they are moving interview dates so close to Tet holiday to get visas processed and complete before Tet holiday.

  6. NVC case now shows ready and is at the Vietnam consulate.

Congratulations Denis & San on this. Wish you the best of luck to you and your fiancee. My fiancee Duong is getting her medical examination completed on December 1st. After this is completed all that remains would be to gert her Justice Check from the Vinh Long authorities as well as her birth certificate. The Vinh Long authorities told her that these should be ready by this Friday or next Monday.

  7. I have chatted with my Vietnamese girlfriend online and video chatted with for on a daily basis morning and night for 8 months. I finally visited my Vietnamese girlfriend on 11/10 - 11/13 and gave her a engagement ring. For those days ,she stayed at my hotel and spent all day with me sight seeing and got to know each other and met her family. I have photos spent time with her and her family. I have Uber account with her profile that was created on her behalf and receipts showing places we went together. She doesn't have a credit card so my credit card was used for payment. We have exchanges gifts and she also gave gifts to take back to my family.

Is this enough time spent with her for K-1 petition requirement of proof of relationship? Do I need to make more visit to meet her in Vietnam for petition approval?

If you can front load your petition with as much as information as you can obtain such as telephone call logs, a very detailed meeting story and what led to the engagement I would not be concerned about all of this. The Consular officer will be looking for genuine signs of a relationships and pictures and other supporting material that shows you know her immediate family well and they know you will go a long way to showing that you have a genuine relationship.

  8. That means the consulate will be getting the physical file in a week or so, and they usually mail out Packet 3 a few weeks after that. Shoot for 2-3 weeks after.

    frontgear,

Thank you so much for responding to my question. I appreciate it. I told my fiancee Duong to expect Packet in 2 to 3 weeks from now.

  9. Our case was updated to Ready today in the Visa Tracking system. Does this mean than in a week or so the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City will mail the packet to my fiancee Duong? She lives in Vinh Long which is about 2 hours drive from Ho Chi Minh City. Will email my fiancee Duong tomorrow with instructions on what she needs to do now. We are targeting a late January 2017 or early February 2017 visa interview date. This will give me more time to accrue leave at work to spend two weeks when I go for her visa interview.

  10. Cesar, good to know. Keep me updated on your whole process. My application should be received by the NVC next week, so I am curious as to the details of your journey since my fiancee is from Vietnam also. Would like to know when you'll be submitting the DS-160, when fees are paid and when you are scheduling the interview.

    Denis & San,

I just checked the State Department Consular Electronic Application System and our case is now in transit to Ho Chi Minh City. Should get there in about week or so.

  11. Try calling them now they received our petition last Nov 8 and they already gave me last night our case no. And our case is already in transit. They sent it out last Nov. 10. So i assume around Nov. 9 my case no. Is already created.

    KandS17,

After waiting for 40 minutes I finally talked to a lady from NVC and she told me that a case number was given today to our approved I-129F approved petition. I am very happy about this. The lady told me that after processing there our case will be forwarded to Ho Chi Minh City.

  12. did most of yall pay the visa fee before the case was Ready or while your case was in Transit?

    soulstriker,

I hope your case changes to ready soon and is confirmed to be at the US Consulate. Best of luck to you and your fiancee on the this part of the process. Still waiting for a case number from NVC. Hoping to get one sometime this week. At least NVC has officially confirmed that they have our approved petition.

  13. can somebody tell me the meaning of the dates 11/04 and 11/14?

the date from the NVC letter is 11/08.

bc i wanna update my timeline ?

attachment removed as requested for privacy

    Galaxia2016,

I called last week and a lady from NVC told me that our approved 129F fiancee petition was received on November 9th. I hope a case number and a letter soon from NVC. What it is the date of the letter that NVC sent to you? Just wondering so I can estimate when should I receive this letter from them.

  14. called again in 4 hours and got case received !! will call tomorrow and try to get case number , the lady told me id get a case number in 2 weeks but just another pad answer of theirs =)

    26 days in total

    soulstriker,

Just got off with NVC. They still have not received our approved petition. The lady told me that they don't expect it to go past six weeks before they receive our approved petition. She told me hopefully they get our approved petition later on this week or next week. Don't like how long it takes for approved petitions to be received by NVC.

  15. Hi

    Cesar & Duong

I will definitely let you know when my fiancee receive packet 3..My fiancee is in Long Xuyen (mien tay)

we probably stay in HCM for 10 days to get medical and vaccination...

Are you coming to for interview with your fiancee?

I think your NVC # will be anytime this week

Email me with any questions you have..We can help each other..

I will be back there Dec. 2nd...

I will drop my fiancee phone # in your mail. if you needs any information, or your fiancee needs help, call my fiancee #s..

    ADT,

Yes I am coming to Vietnam for my fiancee's interview. I so hope that our petition is assigned a NVC # this week. I plan to also be in Vietnam about 10 days or so. I plan to travel back to the US with Duong. Once I get a NVC case number I will email Duong and give her instructions. Will definitely tell Duong to call your fiancee if she has any questions. Thanks again ADT.

  16. Cesar & Duong

Hopes you get NVC # soon, any day from now...

I just schedule interview on Dec. 9th..And will be back to attend interview with my fiancee..

Thank you for the support ADT. Best of luck to you and your fiancee. Just got off the phone with NVC and they still have not received our approved petition. Will call them again tomorrow. I don't like playing the waiting game. NVC surely is short staffed and has a backlog. It makes no sense some 129F approved cases are being processed faster than others. As soon as your fiancee gets the embassy packet please let me know. My fiancee Duong's permanent address in Vietnam is in Vinh Long. She would like to how long it takes for the US Consulate to send the packet to the beneficiary.

  17. I did,

    The slip date 08/11/2016

According to US read August 11th 2016

But in Vietnam reverse it insead November 8th 2016

that is my bad, I reading wrong...

Have you get NVC Case # yet?

My fiancee going to pay her visa fee tomorrow morning

After, pay fee, I will schedule interview date

    Probably, Mid December

ADT, you and your fiancee are so lucky. Just got off with NVC and the lady told me that they have not received our approved 129F petition. She also mentioned to me that she does not expect our approved petition to go past six weeks before NVC receives it. We will see about this. Seems like they are short staffed at NVC and the personnel is working back and forth between I129F approved cases and other cases. This would explain the backlog they have.

  18. Just got off with NVC and they still have not received our approved petition. Seems that they are short staffed at NVC and they have a backlog. The lady told me that she does not expect our approved petition to hit the six week mark after approval without being received by NVC. We will see about this. Seems that the personnel at NVC is switching back and forth working I129F approved cases and other cases. This would explain why others with NOA2 like us have their case number and we don't.
