  1. Ok, now you all are acting like you have the right to judge. I DO agree that children are the first priority. BUT.

My fiancee has been unemployed for two years. But still paid his child support just by giving almost all the money he had to his kids. Now he got a new good job and half of what he makes goes to Child Support. His mistake was that he did NOT notify the Child Support office about his losing a job a few years ago. However, they have been taking 50% of his unemplyment for Child Support. Means, they KNEW he was unemployed. Now they come up with a lawsuit that he didn't pay it to the full, his ex CONFIRMS it and starts a lawsuit. Inspite of his giving almost his money to his kids! No matter how much he used to make or makes now, money goes to his children. ALWAYS. Cause it's his must and he knows so. He never was bitching about it, never been complaining or anything. But now the court puts him on PROBATION for that and he owes just absolutely crazy money he will have to pay til the end of his days. Our petition was approved a year ago. We're still waiting for the security clearance to end. I'm not the one who can just sit on my ### and do nothing, waiting for my hubby to make some money. I don't think I'll stay unemployed in that country. However, this law now can make it almost impossible for us to be together! For no reason. Only cause they were qiuetely taking the money out of his unemployment and when he got a new job, they come up with this issue, accusing him of not giving his kids anything.... Outrageous.... And ex sure doesn't mind. So, saying that he wouldn't pay his child support for some time would be absolutely NOT fair! Cause his kids are a part of him.

  2. We applied for K1 in December, 2005. Our case was approved in March, 2006. And it was immediately sent to NVC for further checks. We are the lucky ones... NOT.. Cause security clearance or name checks (whatever it is) has been lasting for almost a year now. But waiting for that long is not a norm. That's why we contact all people possible related to the case. Congressmen, Senators, FBI, etc.

As for the interview, I know for sure from the experience of many fiancees that I know, that ALL they seem to care at the interview about is the US citizen's financial matters. If he's not that well off, you'll have them shower you with questions. Better be prepared. Taxes, job, debts, all that include money issues is a must for them to wonder. They can pretend to be so curious about your real intent, authenticity of your relationship, but it's only something formal they ask. Major thing is finance. If all your papers are in the order required, you have nothing to worry about.

  3. our NOA2 was approved in march 2006 and they sent our case for the name check on the next day. So, it's going to be a year in a month. We contacted everybody and everything we could. Congresspeople, Senator, called NVC (which is never useful), FBI, called NVC officers (not their call center). ALL was useless. Last time we contacted our congresswoman, we finally found out that our case is in FBI. Well, we knew it was in some agency, just were not sure what agency exactly. So she said FBI won't allow anyone to call them, just a few, and not that often, she says they are 100,000 cases behind. There is a backlog of 100,000 cases. Pending. So, the FBI is not keeping up.

    We applied 14 months ago.

  4. Hi all,

We got our petition approved on the 16th of March and haven't heard from them since then. Of course we called NVC, sent lots of e-mails, contacted two congresspeople and a senator. All was useless... So I am on my 5th month of waiting for my name check to end. My boyfriend called FBI, they said they don't know how long it might take!!! The FBI lady was nice to him, said our case was under congressional inquiry, which means the congresswoamn really asked them.

So, it's the fifth month now. Weird, the approval of our K-1 petition took us longer than it usually take. And now this name check, as the FBI lady told us. Anyone have the same experience?
