Hey,
I am in the same situation. My fiancé had his interview yesterday and we are in AP status because his medical has not reached the embassy. I heard if they keep your passport, it is a good sign. My fiancé asked the CO if everything was good, and she said yes but they need his medical results to fully approve him.

Hey. Have you heard anything regarding the medical? I called Andrews last week and they told us that sent it to the Embassy last Wednesday. I email the Embassy Friday and they said that they hadn't received it. We emailed them again yesterday and they said they had it and now it will be reviewed and the visa will be issued our after everything has been reviewed.

I have been calling the hospital to check and see if his medical has been sent. I called Monday and she said that its still processing and it should be there by next week. One thing that I have learned from seeing others on here is that you have to call and make sure that they are doing their job, so to speak. Email the Embassy if you can't get through on the phone. Call Andrews first, and see if the medical has been sent. Then you can contact the Embassy and tell them it has been sent to them.
