  7. OK...I gotta ask.... for all the non tagalog-fluent VJers. What is a balikbayan box????? Just curious!

A balikbayan box (literally returnee's box) is a ubiquitous cardboard box containing any number of small items and sent by an overseas Filipino known as a "balikbayan". Though often shipped by freight forwarders specializing in balikbayan boxes by sea, such boxes can be brought by Filipinos returning to the Philippines by air.

I haven't visited the PI in 20 years, and that term was never known to me. Thanks :) Your answer begs another question though. What small items are typically included.

Unlike DHL or Fedex, there is much less restrictions in sending a box from us. For as long as there is no liquid and perishable item in the box then you are ready to go.

  11. Receipt Number: MSCxxxxxxxxxx

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card Returned as Undeliverable

On June 13, 2008, the post office returned the Card we mailed to you as undeliverable. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address.

    ----------------------------

DUH!!! I changed my address before we moved and confirmed it 2 times after 45 days, then they still delivered it to my old address.

  12. USCIS is acting weird in my portfolio. They have been updating all my cases, even the previous (old) ones, and keep sending me an updated status which were all sent before already. Has anyone experience this kind of stuff lately? The only reason I see this could be happening is that because I scheduled an infopass for next week and that they might be looking at all the cases with my alien number or something like that.

    Thanks,

    cd

  13. Hello,

My email updates on May 22nd and 28th stated they sent my welcome letter and approval notice, but I haven't gotten anything in the mail. I am wondering if I should be worried because I changed my address in February. However, I called in after 45 days of changing my address if my address has been updated with USCIS and DHS, and the lady said my new address is what they have now. I will call again tomorrow to ask about it, but do you think an infopass is necessary?

    Thanks in advance,

    cd

  14. Hello,

I filed for adjustment of status in October and haven't heard anything after they transferred my application to CSC in December, so I thought I would schedule an infopass to ask about any progress on my case. After scheduling an infopass I got touched about 4 times that week, so I am wondering if the touches were result of my infopass scheduling or they are really working on my papers now? (I canceled my infopass after that though)

    Do you have any idea?

    Thanks,

    cd
