  1. Hello, does anyone know if a lease needs to be notarized to be accepted as proof of residence in the Philippines? I have read several post from people that filed DCF in the Philippines, some specified that their lease was notarized, some just said they brought a lease.

  2. Not for certain, but I think anything that falls under the Adam Walsh Act, which are sex crimes mainly against minors. I think domestic violence makes it difficult. I haven't filed yet so I don't know for sure, but I have an aggravated assault charge on my record so gonna find out. I have asked about that before on here, some say it will be a problem, some say it won't. Apparently no one on here has any crimes on their record, that or they are to embarrassed/ashamed to admit it. Also, you can google Adam Walsh to find out for sure what those are.

  3. Does a rental lease need to be notarized? And I have lived at a couple different places and have the leases for both of them and the address on my acr card is the address for the first place I stayed, will that be a problem? And we just got a lease for the place we are staying at now after asking for one for four months and the address is different than the address the guard told us and my wife and I already got id's with that address. So I have two id's with different addresses and a lease with a different address from any of the id's.

  4. Thanks for all the info Damara. For a little more detail of the crimes, when I was 17, my sister's friend stole her dad's checkbook and I used a check to buy some gas, that was the second degree forgery, a felony. When I was 20 I had a warrant out for me for not paying fines and a cop tried to pull me over and being young and stupid I decided to drive a mile to my parents house so my car wouldn't get impounded and a cop got in my lane coming at me head on and I kept going and made him get back in his lane, they charged me with aggravated assault for that and fleeing for driving to my parents house. As far as misdemeanors, there was minor consumption of alcohol, marijuana possession, criminal mischief, probation for the second degree forgery was revoked because I never saw my probation officer, disorderly conduct, and I think there is a couple more, but nothing sexual, violent or anything that would be fraud related. Yes, going to be filing dcf since I have been living in the Philippines. And my wife knows everything about my past, will probably still get a copy of my police record to take to the interview so the CO will see that my wife knows all about it.

  5. Been planning to file dcf for a while now but since the philippines takes a very long time to do anything we are still waiting for my wife's ID so we can get the cfo so we can get her passport. My question is, I was convicted of some felonies a long time ago, one of them being aggravated assault, is that going to cause the visa to be denied? We are already married and been living together for almost a year. I was 20 years old at the time and now I'm 35, how can they hold something over my head from when I was young and stupid? I didn't even hit anyone, had a warrant out for me for not paying fines and a cop tried to pull me over so I drove one mile to my parents house so my car wouldn't get impounded and along the way a cop got in my lane and I kept going and they charged me with aggravated assault for that. Will it be a waste of money to apply, or should I just plan to live in the philippines the rest of my life?

  6. I was convicted of second degree forgery in 1999 and aggravated assault and fleeing in 2002, all where felonies. In 2004 I was convicted of a misdemeanor marijuana charge, and also before 2004, so many other misdemeanors I can't even remember them all. I'm gonna be filing for CR-1, my wife knows everything about me, we have been living together for almost a year. Do yall think this will be a problem since the aggravated assault is considered a violent crime?

  7. Just got married the other day, waiting on the NSO wedding certificate then filing DCF. A bit worried about proof of relationship. We have been living together for 11 months but the lease only has my name on it and the bills are in the apartment owner's name. We did get her to write both our names on the receipts. Will this be a problem? We do have pictures and we have messages from before I got here.

  8. I emailed them asking if a lease was enough, they replied saying it was one of the things they accept and had a list of things they accept. So I emailed again asking if it would be enough alone, and they replied saying they already sent a list, but they didn't say if I need everything on the list or just some of the things. I too don't want to invest too much in living here cause I am more than ready to go back to the US.
