  1. I'm engaged and had originally been trying to put things together to file for the k1 visa. Some unfortunate circumstances put that on hold, and during that time all the original 'proof' documents I had gathered (luggage tags and boarding passes, my engagement ring receipt, etc) are either severely misplaced or completely gone. We thought of seeing each other again to gain more physical proof from the flights, but then we thought if we are going to spend the time and money to do that again, could we just get married instead and go for the cr1 visa? Will I still need so much proof for the cr1? And since we are already engaged how should we go about getting married if that's the route we choose?

I really don't know what to do now that I lost these documents. I have photocopies of them that somehow didn't get lost with the other documents, but I assume they are completely useless if I don't have the originals to back them up with. Would email receipts for the past plane tickets + photocopies of our passport stamps be enough proof? I think I may be able to request a receipt for my ring as well. At the moment all I have physically is a few receipts and boarding passes from our most recent visit. Is it enough? I have plenty of proof as far as photos together and online chat logs go.

  2. I'll be filing for i-129f soon. My mother, who I live with, is going to co-sponsor with me. I'm wondering if it's ok if the filing fee is her check? Should it be my check? Does it not even matter, or might it be better evidence for them that she is serious about taking on the burden of my fiance? Because I've heard that there can sometimes be issues with using a co-sponsor, I don't really know.

For clarification, my fiance is going to send us the amount for the fee, but I do not have any checks right now and my mom does, but I can get checks if I need to.

Thanks in advance! Sorry if this question seems silly but it's been on my mind a lot and I'm just not sure what is the best way to do this. :)

There's no need to wait for it...it's out already and can be filed already. The old form is just expiring Friday. There's a brief (couple month) period of overlap where both are accepted. :)

The I-129F only needs the petitioner's signature.

Sorry I didn't understand your message when I first read it. Well this is great news I will just go straight for the new i-129F form. Thank you so much :)

Which I-129F are you using? The 4/10/17 edition (see the lower left corner of the form) doesn't use the G-325As. This is the 13 page form.

The 12/23/16 edition is only ~6 pages but does require the 2 x G-325As. However, that edition will no longer be accepted starting 6/9/2017 (Friday).

If you do need the G-325As and feel comfortable that you can get it to them before Friday, use "Other". As for a description, I put "Form I-129F".

Oh I did not know this. Thank you I will just wait for the new form then. Does it still require the fiance's signature? He's leaving before June 9

  5. Sorry if this seems like a silly question. I just want to be 100% certain so that we don't mess up our paperwork!

I'm filing for a K1 fiance visa. Do I put the exact form I'm filling for (i-129F) under 'Other' in the area mentioned in my title on both mine and my fiance's form? I saw on another website to put 'Fiance K1 Visa'. Does it matter? Is writing the exact form we are filling better?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. My fiance wants to visit for Christmas. He would stay from December to sometime 3 months after that. Is it ok to file during this time? Or should I wait until he leaves? We want to file right now but I have some things going on for the next month or 2 that will make that difficult to do so we don't want to delay it any longer than we have to, but I would hate to get denied over something so preventable.

    Thanks :)
