  1. My 6 weeks up; so I called; I got a little clarification on supervisor review; there is no such thing as a supervisor review; what customer support folks do is after 6 weeks are up they call the supervisor whose team is reviewing the case to speed things up. If someone is really in tough spot I think it is better to talk to the supervisor.

I was told they have to wait for one more day before they can ask the supervisor to speed things. It can be called supervisor review but in essence it is supervisor being notified of the cases that are past due.

Most likely will talk to the supervisor tomorrow; It has been very difficult for me to bring my mom to USA after she had a mild stroke. I was denied a tourist visa on the basis of law 214b "potential immigrant". Immigrant visa takes a long time already 8 months. Naturalized citizens have a disadvantage in getting tourist visas; H1B visas can get parent visa so easily; so there are some disadvantages of being a Naturalized US citizen.

  2. Case Creation Date: 17-Nov-2016
    Status Updated Date: 02-Dec-2016

I was just wasting my time on new year's eve looking at my case status; I found some of the cases received on the same day are ready for interview after 15 days of case creation; who are these lucky people.

I was following rules to identify case creation date and sequence:

  3. Out of curiosity, what were you guys' RFE for? Just trying to look ahead to anything and everything I may need to gather. Thanks again

    >> If you are naturalized US citizen don't make an assumption that USCIS still has your birth certificate or an equivalent. My RFE was I didn't send my birth certificate again. I have been US citizen based on that birth certificate but somehow USCIS does not have it in their records.

So, lesson is never assume that USCIS has your birth certificate based on some previous processing!

  4. I received "Request for Additional Evidence" Friday evening; mailed on Monday October 3rd (day I got an email and text in the evening); RFE was submit my birth certificate showing name of mom and dad. I had already submitted birth certificate equivalent: Matriculation certificate plus an affidavit for my green card processing. It looks like USCIS does not keep records of green card processing or naturalization.

I sent my birth certificate today using USPS express priority mail!

  5. I had applied for my brothers i-130; I got RFE for that as well; it was approved after I submitted additional information that established the relationship like school certificates, photos growing up together etc: anything that could convince that we were brothers.

Now I am applying for my mom; I expect the same. i-130 is only based on providing evidence of your relationship with your parents, brother or spouse.

I grew up in India in 80s; birth certificates were rare then; my mom's era they were practical not there; so additional evidence is always required; affidavits, old passports, school certificates, insurance or certificate of deposits etc.

I am naturalized US citizen and they already should have my affidavits and all the related information; but still they may need more evidence.

I would recommend to USCIS to just do a DNA test and spare us from this misery of getting papers. For God's sake it is 21st century; sibling and parents just do a DNA test.

Another rule I really love is 214b based tourist visa rejection for parents of US citizens; you cannot be a tourist but after 6 months we will give you immigrant visa. Again, DNA testing will solve this problem.

I used to get upset seeing parents of H1B visa holders roaming around in silicon valley; punishment for being a naturalized US citizen; go figure.
