  1. I think what you have is perfect. They just want to know that you aren't trying to kidnap the kids. I am sure it will be enough. We also had the same concern we wouldn't have enough but we did! YAY! Best Wishes!

Well I guess you could always do a "mock" interogation afterwards with a flashlight! LOL

Thanks for that! :) I think the children will be disappointed, they're preparing themselves for a flashlight in the face interrogation lol I don't have a notarised letter from their father ('difficult' past relationship, hasn't seen them for twelve years nor supports them). He WAS however kind enough to whack his signature on the bottom of the letter a solicitor sent him informing him of our intentions. Naturally I figured that'd likely not be enough so had a public notary sign an affidavit to the effect there are no custody cases and that his signature there took seven months and that its the best we'll ever get from him. Fingers crossed it'll be enough- it has to be really or else its bye bye visa, he wouldn't ever be accommodating enough to get a notary sign anything, he simply does not care enough, nor would I contact him directly...not safe to. Do you think this might be okay? Granted I know you can only give an opinion but right now I ll take what I can get :)

p.s thanks for the flight tip...I m not flying myself, but I ll remember that for anyone else I hear of who is....you just don't think about things like that, i know I wouldn't!

  2. I (the US Citizen) was fortunate enough to be able to attend the interview with my then fiance and one of his children. At the time (August, 2005)if the child is younger than 14 the child is not required to attened. So the 16 year old went with us. Yes they will be interviewed, but it is very generic questions like, have you been to the US before, is this your parent, very "kid friendly".Honestly there is nothing to worry about at all. We also had a custody issue/release. But since my finance had custody of his kids all we needed was a letter from the ex-wife stating she knew about the move to the US and approved it. It also had to be notarized (the UK version of that, I can't remember the proper term). Hope this helps. Also, if you are flying to London make sure and ask the person doing the interview for a certified copy of your passport, since you will have to surrender them for the visa. We completely forgot about this and nearly didn't have a way back to Newcastle!

Has anybody gracing this forum ever had the pleasure of attending an interview accompanied by ones children?? My daughter is fifteen and my son is twelve and they're as anxious as I am about our December 2nd date. I'd love to be able to tell them what to expect, for example...will THEY be interviewed themselves too?!

I've had a scan on the London Embassys write ups but not found anything.

Huge thanks in advance...this is far more nerve wracking than any of us imagined, especially with there being little available to read, or at least little agreement anyway, on custody/release from country issues in complicated ex-relationships.

  3. Hi Folks,

Not only am I putting together my removal of conditions information at the moment for my Green Card, but my UK Passport is about to expire! I've downloaded the form I need, but am a little at a loss with where to get UK spec Passport Photos done. I have gone into two places so far (one of which was a Duane Reade) with the specs that I had taken from the website. They both said they couldn't do it. I could do them myself as others seem to have done, but the website recommends highly against this, so if I could get them done in a store I would prefer to. Does anyone know any places in NYC that would do this?

    Hope someone can help :)

    James

We got ours done at CVS.

  4. Hi, What did you do about countersignatories?

We havent been here 2 years and so dont know anyone who has known me personally for at least 2 years. My daughter need s her passport renewing for 1st april when we visit the UK, so was thinking about getting one of her teachers to sign it.

Any ideas on what to do?

    Regards

A teacher would be perfect or even a family doctor or nurse. Also, a notary would be able to aswell as long as you can prove her identity to them.

  5. C1 is quite daunting..! I read in the other thread (yes I see it is posted lol) that my new son (born after 82) just needs to send them his current PP, two photos and the money? Is this what you did?

Yes that is exactly what I did. It was a very straight forward process. I don't think you will have a problem at all.

  6. Hi Peeps,

I know I read about this and even worse I think already asked (and you answered once) but I can't find it and my work load these days is not permitting the search of it :(

My new son is needing to renew his British Passport as it expires on his birthday next month and we have tickets to go to Ireland in May.

We've got the green cards already, it's just a matter of updating his PP.

Know where the link is to do it? There are so many scam sites out there...

We just renewed our 2 son's passports a couple of months ago. Very painless and we had the passports back within 2 weeks (I think it was about a week actually)

here is the link with all the info on how to do it.

  7. Hi everyone- I searched the forum with out much luck in finding this out....

Can the American finance go to the interview with the beneficiary.

Has anyone done this? Or think its important to do if you can? We thought we should spend the extra cash to fly me out there to join him once he gets his interview date but if most people don't have issues for approval we would rather save the cash. We just don't want to take any chances that he won't get approved. (God forbid)

I flew out earlier this year (april) for his citizen ship ceremony and to introduce my son to him. He and I have been together for 3 years and I have made 3 trips to him so plenty of receipts, tickets, and picts to prove our mad love (relationship)

    Thanks!

    White Cow

Yes the American finance can go to the interview with the beneficiary, I did this. However we didn't plan it this way I just happen to be in England when the paperwork went through. I was able to go to the medical and the interview. It is not required you go to the interview, but I enjoyed going.

  8. So are children listed on the I-129F expected to attend the interview in London or is it acceptable for them not to attend? To be honest I think i'd rather go on my own??

I have personal experience with this! If the child is over 14 yes. If the child is under 14 no. We had one 15 year old and one 13 year old. The 15 year old went and the 13 year old stayed home and at the interview no questions were asked. Hope this helps!

  9. I can't send US dollars, and i'm not able to find a place to exchange the money... that's the dilemma i'm having.

I would just send cash and they can get it exchanged at any main branch post office.

  10. Hey

can anyone tell me what happens at the interview i mean are you seated like a job interview or is it more like a bank teller thing. Also is it just me and the person interviewing me that will be there??

    cheers mandi

Hey! We went through the K-1 process almost a year ago. At the embassy you take a number and wait and you go to a window (similar to a bank teller). Yes it is just you and the person interviewing who is there. The first window you got to is where you hand over your paperwork and then they call you again for the interview. It's very anti-climatic once it's over.

    Good Luck!
