My status hadn't changed. It was stuck at "my fingerprint was scheduled and the letter was mailed ....." until after my oath ceremony. I've been U.S. citizen since 12/21/2016 but my status, at the moment, is still "my oath ceremony was scheduled and the letter was mailed.....". I am done in believing in USCIS online case status update. So far, I got my passport, registered for vote, updated my SSN information, and moved to Germany. At the army base here, I was very nervous when they registered me because though I have my naturalization certificate, but my case online hasn't closed. The officers reassured me that it's ok because I have the certificate and told me not to worry about the online case status!

I became U.S. Citizen this afternoon with my 10 years old daughter led all new immigrants on the Pledge of Allegiance. It means so much to me. The director conducted the oath ceremony and asked the kids if any of them want to lead us on the Pledge. She decided to do it for me! Needless to say, I shredded lots of tear during the ceremony. I wish you all the best!!!!
Here is my experience of same day interview/oath ceremony
My appointment was at 9.30 am @ Pittsburgh Field Office. I arrived at 9.10. The interview was 40 minutes behind the schedule. I was called in at 10.10. The officer who conducted the interview was super professional, nice and friendly. He went through my application first which he ended up correcting 9 spots - mainly on my husband's new address and employer because of his oversea assignment. Then he gave me a compliment of well preparing of documents. Next he asked me 10 civics questions, which I got the first 6 corrects. Then he asked me to read "Who was the third President?" and write "The President lives in the White House". Afterward, he congratulated me but there's some technical issue on their computer. It took him about 5 minutes trying to approve me. My heart dropped but eventually he could and he handed me the paper, which has wrong alien number!!!! We both didn't check it until I returned for oath ceremony. Thank goodness, they didn't make a big deal out of it. He told me to go back to the hotel to get my kids, my bestie, and her children and to come right back to the office. My interview was about 25 minutes. I returned to the office again at 12.15. He actually has no clue the time of the oath and said while I was gone, he'll talk to his supervisor.
At the oath ceremony, they have 2 oath ceremony today- 1pm & 3.30pm. They had me in 1pm. However, they came up to me and said there's some technical issue and that they want to know if I can come back tomorrow. I told them that I couldn't since I live 380 miles away. Thankfully, they fixed their computer problems and were able to print the certificate but they had to glue my photo onto the certificate and had me sign on it. The oath ceremony took about an hour. There were about 28 new U.S. Citizens. The director conducted the ceremony. He's very nice. There are many kids in the ceremony so he asked them to help lead the Pledge of Allegiance. My daughter decided to do it for me. He let every single one of us take a picture with him when he handed the certificate as well as afterward. Then it's the closing and we're done!
Overall, I had a great experience with Pittsburgh Field office. I'm glad they redid the district and sent me there. It's worth driving 380 miles!!!!

Correct! Once you are in line for an interview, you are cleared from background check. But the wait time depends on how busy your field office is. I read the Ombudsman report, which suggested that whatever time frame USCIS put on the website isn't reliable and I certainly agree with them.
