  1. After hearing both the good and bad sides of interview reschedule we're leaning against it. Initial plan was to have her come here, stay for a week, and then go back. But after hearing about the visa extension and given how much she has traveled this year (wedding, honeymoon, vacation, and work) we just wanted to explore the viability of this alternative option.

  2. My wife has her interview scheduled at the US embassy in Sydney in less than a month, but the problem is due to her employment contract there she is obligated to work at her current firm til the April of next year. Even though we were planning on her coming here over Xmas break, some of my coworker told me that some consulates allow an extension to the CR-1 Visa (beyond the 6months of visa allowance).

Since the folks on VJ are very knowledgeable about this type of things I wanted to check here first to see if anyone has any experience with this or this is some sort of myth. If it's truly possible, what's the typical way to go about it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

My wife has her interview scheduled at the US embassy in Sydney in less than a month, but the problem is due to her employment contract there she is obligated to work at her current firm til the April of next year. Back in March when I filed for her CR-1, I was under the impression that it'd take us at least a year to get through this whole visa process and she'd have 6 months to get into the States. But now it's looking like it'll take us ~8 months to completely go through this process (keeping fingers crossed for her visa approval).

While it's a good thing (I'm very grateful to the amazing VJ members for all the information shared and provided here), my question is if my wife enters the US in November/ October, will it be ok for her to stay here for a week/two, go back to Aus to complete her contract, and then come back at the end of April/beginning of May? I've heard if you enter the States on IR/CR-1 you have to stay in the country for at least 3 months before you can leave. If you leave without staying for at least 3-months your permanent residency gets revoked; even the stay doesn't exceed the 6 months rule. How true is this?
