  1. Hi guys,

I am going to be away from home next week for Thanksgiving and just realized that I may not be around to get any mail from USCIS. I wanted to know how long it took others to get their GC after the online update said approved and we ordered your card. I am sure that each case is different but hoping for a general idea......do not want paperwork r or GC knocking around in mailbox

    Thanks.

  2. Hi guys,

So yesterday was my interview and my PD is June 13th and my Field Office is Hartford, CT. My interview was scheduled for 11am and I felt pretty good going into the office. Access into the building took us about 40 minutes but we made it into the interview section at 10:54am. We checked in and the receptionist asked if we had any paperwork to submit to the officer and I gave her the copies I made(she let me know that it was possible that I would not get back originals). I had not anticipated this, I envisioned myself giving the officer all of these items during interview however I was well prepared with copies of EVERYTHING. We then sat and waited for45 minutes before we were called in. SIDEBAR* as we sat there a stern looking officer came out and called a couple...they both rose and went towards IO then IO said to the husband that he should stay and he will question the wife 1st. I myself was a bit shocked on a few issues......how stern(borderline rude) the officer seemed to be, the fact that they were a couple(i thought it was mother and son sorry for being judgemental i know love has no boundaries) and the look of horror on their faces when they were told they would be interviewed seperately.

That put me in a bit of a funk and then 45 minutes later......they called us.....guess who my officer was?!? Yip! Mr.Grump Pants......so I walk to my impending doom while calculating in my head how long they may give me for voluntary departure.

We get to his office and he swears us in, began asking my husband questions, name, birthdate,address.....then whats my name, birthdate, where I was born, who helped us with our paperwork, our children's names and D.O.B, trips we have taken together. Then he turned to me and asked me the same questions, not much variation, asked me the questions on my I485. We answered everything correctly and all was well. He asked me if I ever had a visa before and I said yes. He asked if I overstayed a visa prior to this one, I said that I was not certain but I do no think so. I have a student's visa and after graduation I didnt return home immediately since I was pregnant with our daughter(not married) so I was not sure what the "truth" was so I said I did not know.

He then says, "BTW do you guys have ID?" I give hime my passport and husband's passport, he takes my I94, makes me sign a document stating that I have told the truth etc. Then says that because I am not sure about my previous visa history and do not have verification of my entries prior to the I94 he will need to check visa status before he approves. Disappointed, we say thank you and leave.

While I sit in the movies gorging on some cheesecake that I sneak into theater I receive the card in production update, then 3 hours later my I485 and his I130 are approved. Sorry for the novel guys and best of luck to everyone. Again, thank you for your kind words and support during this journey and I am excited for everyone.

  3. Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your positive words! I can't express how much confidence it gives me to have other on similar situations say all will be well.

My husband is ultra supportive and I never want to hurt his feelings and say to him, "You don't understand how I feel." I know he's just trying to be there for me but its nerve wrecking.

How many of us June filers had been interviewed already or have received their green card? I'm so happy for all of us who are now able to begin our documented journey here in the US.

  4. Hi guys,

I am a June filer and just found this page despite the fact that I joined VJ months ago and have been reading everything under the sun. I truly appreciate all the information and input thus far. My PD is 6/13 and I reside in CT . My interview is less than a week away and I am in such a panic. I didnt expect it to come this quick. I am paranoid that they have decided to deny me and are simply interviewing me as a formality before deportation proceedings.......its such a relief to say that ;( i want to know if others share my fear. If i said it to my husband( USC/petitioner) he would think I am crazy, he's confident all will be well.

Is anyone else here as AOS filer (B2 visa overtsay for alomst a decade) and what has your timeline been?

    Again, thank you guys
