Wow.. people JUDGE before even knowing the entire story.. I thought this forum was to help with immigration process/questions.. we are not psychologists and we are not here to give personal advise unless someone is asking for our opinions of course..

As for your situation, I think that it does not matter who the biological father of the child is, legally YOU are the father, PERIOD. I think that you should just keep going with the whole process. Good luck!

OMG I never thought of this.. I will have the same issue then once my husband gets here as open enrollment starts on Nov 15 and it will be a year since "life event" took place. Do you guys think that a letter from SSA that you requested SSN will be valid to add husband to insurance policy? In my case my husband should be here in the USA by Nov 10 so we could request SSN the same day. The I94 will do to request SSN? how long does it take to get SSN on the mail?

Taking care of elderly parents does not excuse violating US immigration laws. Lots of 80 something Americans live on their own. It doesn't count as something for your friend to violate US immigration laws to care for his parents.

Your friend's overstay will prevent him from receiving a green card through an employer. His overstay will not be forgiven. His overstay will result in a denial of an employer sponsored green card.

The only chance for your friend to get a green card at this point is adjust status as an Immediate Relative of a US citizen. His overstay may be forgiven if he is petition by a US citizen spouse or US citizen child over 21. His parents cannot file for him as an Immediate Relative because he is over age 21.

If that person then gets married and US citizen spouse petitions for a change of status, what is the procedure? Does wife needs to go back to her country while petition is granted? do you know if they would have to pay a penalty for overstaying? (let's say a year of overstay). thanks guys so much for replying!!! yesterday we received interview date for Nov 1 at 2:30pm. I checked payment portal again today just in case and I am still able to log in but who cares!! right? I got what I wanted which was interview date!! )

Hi! I am still able to access the payment portal but I have received case complete on Sept 22 and yesterday received interview date, and also saw on DHL website that our package has been sent to the Embassy. So, I guess that best way to check if your case has been completed is by AVR or speaking with operator. In my case, I found out per AVR, then confirmed with operator, then a week later I got interview date. Good luck to you!!

Another question I have is, is the package sent to Embassy first and then we get interview date? or is it the other way around. I just went to the DHL for tracking and there is a package that went out to Paraguay on Monday and I don't even want to think that, that could be our package!!

Per AVR and also confirmed with operator, our case was completed last Thursday Sept 22 but for some reason I am still able to log into the payment portal. Is this normal? Anybody experiencing same thing? I spoke with operator and was told that they are waiting to schedule interview but looks like October is already full.. I am hoping that she is WRONG because I really wish the interview could be next month, plus there isn't a lot of movement at the Embassy in Paraguay and things usually run pretty quickly..

congrats to all of you who have gotten SIF!!! As for myself... my husband had some issues with some of the paperwork he has to send me, so he is currently working on those (yes yes yes.. I am about to kill him.. but for better or worse, for richer or poor.. you know.. I am trying to stay calm.. but our hope for August interview is no longer possible either.. I just hope we can resume our NVC journey soon!!!

I actually contacted consulate in Asuncion and they told me that everything should be translated but as mentioned above by others, things could be different depending on which consulte..

I am happy to announce that the problem has been fixed!!! I just printed out my cover sheets and I am on my way to the post office!!

I am waiting for my case to be received at NVC (NOA2 on 6/21/11). And this thread of interest to me and very helpful. Please keep updating on your experiences - thanks to all.

Hi Carmi! I hope your problem gets fixed soon! It sucks when you are having problems with your petition.

By the way, did you wait for NVC to e-mail DS-3032 form before you submitted to them? Did you provide a barcode or you just wrote your Case number on the bar code? Thanks!

Hey!! congrats on getting your case number!! that's a great start!! Did you also get your INN? As far as the DS3032, I waited and received it the same day I got my case number. They will send you two different emails. One with info on the AOS bill and instructions, and then another one with the DS3032. We actually sent the DS3032 email format about two days after receiving it (we got it Friday afternoon, sent it Sunday night) but until today we have not received any confirmation at all that they have accepted it. I'm still waiting on that as well we are basically stuck right now.. but there's nothing that we can do about it but wait until the AOS cover sheet page is fixed.. and also the DS3032 gets accepted.

I am waiting for a couple of more days. They have not confirmed that they received our DS-3032 anyway.. and the IV bill has not been generated.. so maybe if I wait, that would be ready as well and could even send them together.. I don't think that this could delay the process since both packets have to be received and approved by NVC for the case to be complete.. However, too bad we have the holiday on Monday and that definitely will slow things down..

I am getting the same message too everytime I try to print the cover letter. I tried all browsers that I know of, installed Windows updates, scanned for virus and yet I still get this runtime error. Please help. Thanks

I have spoken with CSR and I was told that they are currently having some issues with the page and what we can do is in a sheet of paper just print your NVC case number.. and that's it.. for me.. that does not sound too logic.. so I am just waiting to see if the page gets fixed today or tomorrow.. then wait to print it out and send it..

Hi! I just spoke with an operator and she told me that the page is down and what we can do is, put our case number on a piece of paper.. and include it in the packet.. I asked if they needed copy of the payment receipt and she said.. that she did not need that.. Doing this is definitively an option, but I am not even sure what if is the best thing to do.. or if we should just wait to see if the page gets fixed. Has your husband called NVC to see what they tell him?
