  2. Thanks Jelly. I guess I have to wait for a little bit more. Please give some updates if you have already received your letter for the oath ceremony.

  3. when the decision is not made at your interview how long do they take or have taken to send you decision or perhaps oath by mail?

    Hi ShallowShrek,

Just want to let you know that my wife had interview Oct 9th, 2008. IO has asked her lots of questions about us, families and about 13 text book questions. Also asked her what kind of documents you brought up with you. Thanks god, my wife had taken all documents (bills, utility, joint bank statement, our life insurance, etc.) with her. She only kept all latest 2008 paper. After the interview she told my wife OATH letter will receive with in 60 to 90 days. She also hand her a form which has 2 box checked a) passed test and B) written decision will be notified through the mail.

Right side of the bottom of the form has marked don't wait for the oath letter now.

  4. Just got my interview letter today and the interview is actually somewhere in Long Island not in the Manhattan building. I submitted everything January 3rd and my interview is set for October 21st.

Not bad timing at all, I was only expecting to hear about an interview early next year. Good luck to everyone else, I hope your letters come through soon.

For now, I really hope I can memorize the history questions and answers, I am one of the worst test takers EVER! I get nervous and go blank :clock:

    Hi Jess290681,

My wife's interview oct 09, 2008 in Garden city, long island. She is planning to take the old test. As fer as I understand if the interview after Oct, 2008 , you have option to take either one. Please let us know if you know any different news. Are you taking the old or the new exam.

    Thanks

  5. Hi Guys,

My wife just received her interview letter yesterday. Actual interview in Oct 9th, 2008. Now I have few questions?

    1) which question she should study, Old or New?

    2) We have a one year old son. Is she allowed to take him to the interview room or Can I go with her to the interview room with my son?

    Thanks in advance

    David

If the paperwork was applied before October 1, 2008, she has choice for old or new exam.

For your one old son, probably it's better you going with your wife, and take care of your son during interview process.

You don't want for your wife to be distracted from interview process, and causing the problem.

It's better interview officer and your wife let focus on interview process itself.

Thanks moonhunt. I was thinking the same way.

  6. Dear All,

I have been reading posts here for the past couple of days and can't find any stories from those filing from New York City. Does anyone have recent experience dealing with Federal Plaza or Garden City? How fast have they been lately? How long is it currently taking to complete the N400 process for someone living in New York City?

I found this information here: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=517983

Re: naturalization timeline in NYC in 2008

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Update on my side!

I got my interview letter!!!! It's for June 3rd. Exactly 90 days after I mailed my application.

    N400 mailed 03/03/08

    Received 03/04/08

    Checks cashed 03/06/08

    NOA 03/15/08

    FP 03/24/08

    Interview 06/03/2008

    Oath XX/XX/XX

IS IT REALLY possible??? Can anyone confirm this? I thought it was taking at least some 8 months to complete this process in NYC.

    Thanks!

    Andy

  9. Hi all,

    Please help!!!

I have a relative currently living is USA. He came to USA when he was 12 years old. He finish his jur. school, high school, BS in Economics, BS in Computer Science and finally MS in Computer Science (this week). Unfortunately he is undocumented. So he now want to go back home to Bangladesh because it seems there is nothing going to happen soon ( I mean amnesty).

Now the question is How can he legally get exit permit fro immigration dept. so he can buy a ticket to go back home.

His Original passport was lost then he received another passport for the Bangladeshi consulate.

    Please help.

    david

If he is "undocumented" how did he manage to finish school and get all the degrees, w/ the last one being the MS in Computer Science (this week)??? Shoudn't he have a student visa in order to study?

    -P

    Hi all

thanks for the reply. In New York, under City University of NY there are 18 colleges. You can study any one of those colleges as long as you pay international student tuition fee. They wouldn't ask you for the status.

    Thanks

  12. Congratulations!

Did you apply for your citizenship yet?

My parents are still back home and they don't consider moving down here. If I become a citizen in case of emergency I would have to apply for a visa and pay for it to go back home. So, I think I'll wait till something changes.

And I NEED A BREAK from experiencing a wonderful immigration service.

    Hi finish4start,

Can you share with us little bit more about your interview experience.

    Thanks.

  13. I agree, and this happened to me. I wanted to have my passport stamped, so I can extend an invitation for my mom to come for a visit (less paperwork for me to scan and send)..so I went with my infopass appointment and the officer was such a ..... difficult with an attitude and basicly said to me that according to the rules bla bla bla my extension letter is enough proof of my legal status in the states, even if I want to travel or whatever. I said I was just trying to make it easier, to what she replied verbatim "There is not such a thing like easy in the immigration" and gave me a look "anything else?".

    Hi Tata,

Thanks you very much for the reply. We are in same situation as yours. My wife is five and a half months pregnant and we are thinking to bring her mom around the due time. So we were thinking to sent all the papers including copy of her passport (551 stamp would have been good).

  14. Hi guys,

    Have a question?

My wife already sent her I-751 to VSC at Dec 12th , 2006. Her green card has expaired on March 11th 2007 (she has a letter saying that her green card extended for one more year as usual). Now the question is " she should go for infopass to stamp her passport or leave it alone even though her passport stamp expired" and another question is "if she goes for stamp on her passport, is there going to be any problem because her passport 551 stamp has expired".

    Thanks in advance.

    david
