  1. Also done with the biometrics yesterday!

2 hours wait for a 2 minutes fingerprints and picture taken.....

By the way, I am glad I had plenty of IDs on me, I had my driver license, but that wasn't enough! The notice had my new name and all my middle names, not my driver license. I am so glad I did my military dependent ID with all the names on it

Now, another 2 months of patience for the EAD and 10 months for the GC!

  2. Nevermind, it says they received it on the internet and that they sent it so I guess I'll get it separately...

I just received the 4 hard copies! The I130 was under my husband's name, as the petitioner, so I guess yours might be coming slightly later (especially since they said it ...). That's good you can check it on internet! None of the 4 numbers are working for me. Looks like for some people it takes more than a month, so...patience!

  3. I went to Social security office with my marriage certificate and I-94 etc to get my name first then they gave me a piece of confirmation letter and told me I can go to the DMV next day to change the name on my driver's license. I went to DMV the next day with the confirmation letter from SSO and my I-94 etc, they had no problem changing my last name :)

Got it! I guess I chose the offices in the wrong order :) . Thank you for the tip!

  4. So I changed my last name to my husband last name, I already use that last name for daily life basis stuff.

The question is: I already have mine SSN number since I was under F-1 visa, Can I use NOA + marriage certificate to change my name on SSN? Or do I have to wait till EAD card arrived? Also same as state ID card?

And how long does it take for you to wait in Social Security office?

    Thanks

Just go to SSS office and present your marriage certificate to have a name change. Pretty straight forward process.

Let me know if that works. I tried to change my name on my driver license, even with the marriage certificate, they refused, because on my I-94, it still showed the old name. The lady told me I should go to the immigration office to get this changed..... I still have my old name on it, as I am not willing to waste half a day for that...... but maybe the SSN would be ok with that.

  5. Thanks to everyone that responded!!!! It's been 6 months since we sent the AOS package, and about 3 months since I got my EAD but we haven't received a waiver for an interview or anything in the mail since the EAD. So maybe I'll be one of those people that don't get an interview which it sucks because it'll take longer for what you guys said. The office that process my case is in Elizabeth,NJ (or at least that's the office where they took my biometrical) and it's a bussy office I think.

Thanks to everybody for answering it's really helpful.

I think your office will be either Newark or Mount Laurel, depending on your county. Elizabeth is just doing biometrics (I am also in NJ, and you can figure out your local offices on the USCIS webpage). They also have timelines for processing, but they haven't updated them since June (which could be ok, because in June, they were processing I485 from .....July 2015....at least in Newark).

From what I read on other forums, people who sent their packages in Dec/Jan are starting to see some interview letters....

Hopefully you are ok waiting another few weeks... Good luck!

  6. It should come at the same time as AP. You can expedite if if you have booked travel but usually they prefer an exceptional reason. But that should be more than enough time for AP to be approved.

Sometimes they even have EAD and AP on the same card (as long as you send the form at the same time, I presume).

But I also thought you needed an exceptional reason to travel; from what I read, even if you can technically travel, they might deny you the right to enter the US again....

  7. I think my case will be in San Jose, CA :(

Are those processing time on the website really accurate?

    I really hope not :(

I remember when I was working on my J1 waiver case, it's form I-612. When I checked their processing time, it says they are still working on the case of September, 2015. I only submitted my case on October, 2015. However, my case has been approved but the website still shows they are currently working on the September, 2015 cases.

But maybe I-485 info is more accurate? I am just saying all those to make myself feel better! ??

Still waiting for the biometric mail :)

well, hopefully they can go faster.

I am in NJ, and they are processing cases from July 2015 <_< Although I read on other posts that it is more an 8-10 month wait......

  8. Thank you so much for clarifying Moslund! I wouldn't cancel the appointment though, I would cancel my weekend :crying: . I can imagine, it is bureaucracy, so rescheduling a bio appointment would be way more painful.

I think I had it completely messed up. I thought the biometrics were at the local office, that is probably 2 different things. So basically, let's say, they don't need extra infos, the NBC send the biometric letter, I go to whatever office is near, biometrics go back to NBC, and then once scheduled for interview, it goes to the local office.

I guess I can wait until I have the letter, and check directly at the office they mention to call and see if they accept walk-in, you never know!

    Thank you again!

  9. Yeaaah! I guess I should leave posts on the forum more often! it gets stuff moving (I know, it probably doesn't influence, but still :) )! Got the notifications through mails and texts last night, and they are cashing the check today.

So, stupid question...... everything goes to the National Benefit Center.... is it a central location, and then they dispatch to your local office? If yes, is the timeline for biometrics letter/ appointment will then depend on how they can get to your package at the local office? I am slightly confused now.... It looks like most people get their biometric appointment 4 to 6 weeks after it was accepted, but I was just curious (plus I have a planned long weekend at the end of September, hopefully I won't have to cancel it) . Anyone has an idea?
