  1. While I am still wating for my interview, I have a question.

I heard that I have to update citizenship status with Social Security Administration at least 10 days after the ceremony.

What about DMV? I don't change my name.

Do I still have to update citizenship status with DMV?

Anyone who became U.S. citizen in California updated the citizenship status with DMV even though name was not changed?

What form should I fill out?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I am filling out N400 form and I have a question.

For Part 8 information about my employment and schools, I need more spaces, and it says use addiotional sheets of paper.

Do i have to print out exact same page of Part 8 for extra?

or I have to handwrite on a piece of paper such as letter size paper 8.5x11?

  3. Happy to report I did my Biometrics this morning. I had an 11 AM appointment but went in at 9 AM and was out within 10 minutes! By the way, I applied at the Texas Lockbox location and I got an NBC* number even though I used the most current forms. Now the waiting game begins, fingers crossed - time to study for the test...

Were you asked to take a photo when you did biometrics?

  4. Congratulations!!

Did the IO ask you to explain the meaning of some words from N400 while he was asking you questions based on N400?

And one of the questions you were asked, name 2 fundamental rights of a citizen?

Did he ask you a question by changing some words from the 100 questions list? cuz I don't see the same question from 100 questions list

    Just had my interview today.

    Documents i took :

    1. marriage cert.

    2. Copies of USC birth cert and passport.

    3. Tax transcripts for last 3 years.

    4. My green card and driver's license.

    5. I didn't have my Indian passport. So i took copy of my Indian passport.

I parked 1 block away at my company's 2nd building. Lucky me. ;-) Other than that , there should be plenty of parking around the building.

    I arrived 30 mins early at 30 N 41st St, Philadelphia, PA 19104 location.

went thru the security and was directed to 2nd floor.

Checked in at front desk. The lady there told me to wait by door no 3.

After waiting for 1 hour , i was called in.

Gentleman took me to his office where 2 other people were present.

He swore me in and asked me to take a seat.

He requested me to present my ids.

I had my DL, GC but not Passport. I gave him the reason why i did not have my passport and presented him with a photocopy of it.

He seemed like he didn't care that much about the missing passport.

Then we proceed to confirm my details on the forms i submitted.

After which he asked me civics/history questions. :

    1. Gov of PA ?

    2. What must a new citizen promis,

    3. Name 2 fundamental rights of a citizen

    Sorry , thats all i could rem?ember.

After this he tested me on english .

Soon i was told , he is recommending me for approval.

I had to look at a ipad and confirm my details and sign on the screen.

I was told that i will get oath date in mail. Average time is 1 month.

The officer then walked me out , i thanked him.

PS : They did not ask for any other documents. Just IDs.

I hope all who are waiting get their dates soon.

  5. On the employment section, I wrote my college, and two part-time jobs.

There were two gaps I didn't work, and I am currently unemployed.

I didn't write the information that i was unemployed for some period.

Does it really matter when i have a naturalization interview?

They will deny my citizenship because I didn't write "unemployed" with the dates?

Anyone who didn't write "unemployed" but had no issue at all and passed the interview?

  6. For the question, "Have you EVER not filed a Federal, state, or local tax return since you became a lawful permanent resident?"

    I answered "No"

In 2011,2013, and 2014, I had a job and made money so I filed a tax return all those three years.

    In 2010, 2012, and 2015, I didn't have a job and had no income.

I noticed that i had to answer "Yes" and add explanation that i had no job in 2010, 2012, and 2015.

I won't be able to pass the interview?

Does anyone who had same problem but passed the interview?

  7. Here is my questions.

Q1. If I start to fill out the form N400 by typing, I have to fill out everything by typing except for a signature?

Or I can mix typing and handwriting?

Q2. How can I answer this question below,

"Have you EVER not filed a Federal, state, or local tax return since you became a lawful permanent resident?"

Does this question asks if I haven't filed a tax return if I was required? or it just asks If I haven't filed a tax return for any reason?

I came to the U.S. in June, 2010.

In 2011,2013, and 2014, I had a job and made money so I filed a tax return all those three years.

In 2010, 2012, 2015, and now, I didn't have a job and had no income, I was just college students, so I didn't file a tax return because I was not required to do.

    YES or NO?

Q3. For Part 5, Information about Residnece and Part 8, Information about employment and schools, I have to use additional sheets of paper.

Do I have to place the additional sheets of paper right after Part 5 and Part 8 OR place them all the way at the end?

Q4. I can see the instruction and it says type or print "N/A" if an item is not applicable or the answer is none. Like for example, I am a single so I don't have children. Do I have to write N/A or None in every single sections?

Q5. I am going to use manila envelope and put it them into USPS Priority Mail Flat Envelope

What kinds of envelope did you guys use?

Q6. Did you guys write anything on the envelope besides addresses? such as writing down "N400"

Q7. I can see USPS Priority Mail (not express) comes with a tracking number. Did you guys still add options such as Certified Mail, Return Receipt, Delivery Confirmation?

    Please share your experience.

    Thanks in advance.
