  1. Winning the lottery involves so many steps. It just not winning and them giving you a green card. You need so much steps and I suggest you start reading on what to do next. Trust me you need more than a strangers address so they can hand you green card later. Look here I hope someone else refer you to a thread here about the steps because I don't know where to find it. Good luck.

Does anyone know of this thread ^ being implied here? I just want to use it as a check list on the things i need to have ready

  2. I've seen crazier on this site. And I'm not sure I'd be willing to trust sending something as valuable as a green card to someone that you don't even know (not sure meeting online for sole purpose of using an address or finding a sponsor really knows as "knowing"). I'd be very careful about things like this. They may not want money now, but once they have your GC in hand, that story may change...

I'd much rather rent a mailbox as Mailboxes, Etc. and pay the small monthly fee to know that I will actually get my card when it's ready.

but who said they're even receiving it ? after i land i can switch the address, and i didn't meet the person on this site.

  3. Maybe I'm confused, but doesn't a DV lottery winner need a sponsor? Then the GC gets mailed to the sponsor's address. My hubby's cousin was a DV lottery winner and he lived with his sponsor until he got on his feet and on his own with a job and apartment.

i asked the embassy about that also, a sponsor is if you don't have any financial capability to stand on your own feet until you start providing finances for yourself, they said 10,000$ per person is enough.

I have a question i found a person in virginia, he's going to be my 'sponsor' , my question is can i just land in virginia where my 'sponsor' is pay the GC fees, and take a next plane from the same airport right to my final destination in florida? Or that thing would be impossible having the temporaral visa and just as i've landed in virginia? i know i can change the address after i land but can i change the address to florida later? I'm just unaware because i don't want to stay in virginia, it would be a torture not being where you want to be, if you know what i mean

  4. No one is going to physically check the address, put down a hotel address. If it makes you feel better choose an extended stay hotel where you can easily say that you'll stay there a few months while looking for a job and apartment, etc. You could also try what someone else suggested, contact a Macedonian cultural organization or church or something and see if they'll help out.

Incidentally it is actually fairly unusual for a DV winner to know absolutely no one in the US, but when it happens like in your case most people put a hotel.

Correct, but the embassy said not to put a hotel address, and i can't really give an oath before the interview while feeling as i lied during it, if you know what i mean, I wouldn't want to be in an uncomfortable situation.

I have contacted a few people, trust me but the level of unawareness on the lottery makes them resign even if they accept to get the GC's mailed to them, which is why i felt people on here are more aware and have been in some type of immigration obstacles that they've sook help here at least once, and i felt people that check the Q's here would usually feel like helping someone out, and it's not like i'm asking for a big deal except get something mailed to them, which they'll see its USCIS sealed and not a whatever someone said few replies before me.

  5. Plenty people put a hotel address on the DS260 while they figure out similar situations. Who told you you can't do that?

Merrytooth, I understand that a PO Box is not acceptable - it has to be a street address. People have reported mixed success with mail forwarding services - USPS apparently has strict instructions about where they may or may not deliver USCIS Mail to.

I phoned the embassy to ask, and they told me it can't be a hotel address, the guy was like , come on you have to have someone. which made me lol, how do you expect me to have someone when i don't have relatives there, i lived all my life in europe, and it's a Diversity lottery, which means you want non US genes in the US, you want diversity, if i already had a relative how would i bring diversity ? Hence is why usually countries with low immigration rates come up as winners as african countries.

  6. If you have half a brain, you would be able to do some googling online.

You are not the only one winning DV lottery with no relative or friends in US.

On some websites, some people suggested these companies that offer mail services with real street addresses.

Otherwise, go google your fellow country associations in the US state you will be living in. They might be more willing to help you out.

I guess an American is more likely to help then a macedonian. I don't have relatives in the US , but i do know a handful of macedonians that wouldn't even return a phone call when i say i'm immigrating, so i guess the typical macedonian is less likely to help then the typical American , which is why i joined this site, and the DS-260 seeks for a phone number and a few other information rather then just an address, and ofcourse maybe i expect it to be a favor , rather a pay to service ? And maybe i expected it to be from someone here rather a referral to another site? The person i had on my DS-260 didn't even know what the DV is, and it's most likely not to accept to do me the favor, or to change their mind when the interview clock ticks, so yea that's maybe also a reason i wanted someone off here because maybe they would understand my case better?

  7. I'm confused as to whether you have the visa yet (which it sounds like) or whether you have been selected but haven't had the interview yet - which seems more likely as they insist on an address before they grant the visa. In fact I think you need one on the DS260?

By the time you actually fly you will presumably have somewhere to stay at least at first - you can change your address at the point of entry. B&Z's comment that the green card only arrives after you do is correct, and you can delay it by delaying payment of the immigrant fee, but I have heard of numerous cards getting delivered to the wrong address if the address is changed after actually entering.

i need the mailing address for the DS-260 which i'll be correcting at the interview. I'll be staying at a hotel, but i've been told i can't use a hotel's address as the actual mailing address, so i still need an actual address and someone to get it mailed at for me , and the DS-260 is reviewed at my interview so i need the mailing address prior to it, my interview is already scheduled at the 25th of october, and the person i added to my DS-260 , i only knew online and i saw he wasn't serious and he said 2 months after submitting my DS-260 that he changed his mind, so i decided to seek for someone else.

  8. You want people you don't know to write their address so your GC can be mailed to that address?

the DS-260 requires an address for the Green Card to be mailed to, and it cant be a hotel address, and i don't have an address in the US , and i have noone in the US because i live in Europe for my entire life. It doesn't bother me if i don't know the person ofcourse all the favour would be is handing me it, since i didn't have an adress to get it mailed to.

The green card won't be arriving before you do. You have to get here first, then it takes about 120 days (after you arrive or pay the fee - whichever is last) before you'll receive your greencard. Go to Florida, get an apartment, and then pay the green card fee and register your address for the delivery. Or, you can go anywhere. Just keep updating your address with USCIS online and they'll send you your green cards to the place where you live in the United States.

You don't want to be sending your green card to strangers.

as i said the DS-260 requires an address for the Green Card to get mailed to, and the DS-260 is filed before my interview and before my arrival in the US.

  9. Hello, i won the Diversity Visa as a beneficiary since my parent was the winning applicant, but i don't have an address to get our Green Cards delivered to , because we don't have anyone in the US. We want to reside in Florida, near Miami, this is a forum where some of us have experienced similar issues, so i hope that someone would share their address and could hand the green cards to me. The place we want to reside to is Florida and around Miami, if someone would share their address and write as a welcoming letter, so it wouldn't look as i randomly came up with the address it would be very appreciated, because we really have no one.Other states might be considered if no one comes up in Florida, but since we're short of money we prefer the address to be in Florida, Thank you !!
