  1. Hi guys

Just to wrap this thread up neatly

Email received confirming EAD/AP had been approved 03/30/17

    Approval letter received 04/03/2017

Email received confirming EAD/AP card issued 04/06/2017

Received EAD/AP card in mail  04/10/2017. (as discussed both EAD/AP included on one card as I applied for both)

Left for my trip home 04/13/2017 with days to spare!

  2. Hi guys

I received my I-131 approval letter today, after a long wait. The approval letter states "Your travel document will be sent to you separately". My original plan was to travel to the UK on the 04/14/2017. Will I need my the travel document or can I just use my I-131 approval letter if/when traveling to UK? If not, how long does this "travel document" take to be received?

  3. Hi guys

I have been looking at the forums for other people in my position, but I keep seeing conflicting information. I know every case is different, but I thought I’d look for some input.

My AOS forms including I-485, I-131 and I-765 on the 20th of December 2016. I had my biometric appointment on 25/1/17 and I have not heard anything since.

I was wondering if this is normal for the others out there? Did anyone try and contact USCIS for an update?  I was under the impression that the I-765 (EAD) would at least be processed within 90 days. I checked online and it shows the forms were received, but nothing seems to have happened since the end of December.

I haven’t had a request for further information either, which I understand would slow down the process.

  4. Hi all

I filed my AOS package in late December 2016 and had my Biometric appointment 25th of January 2017. My hope is to visit family in the UK around mid April.  I have looked at forums but I am still a bit unsure of the process. In regard to the I131 I have a few queries:

    1. How long after the Biometrics does it generally take to get I-131 approval?

    2. Will a I-131 approval be granted separate to I-765 + I -485 approval? Or are they all received together?

    3. If I leave the USA to visit the UK for a couple of weeks without having I 131 confirmed, will I be allowed back in the USA on the way back?

    Thanks

  5. Hi guys

I am slowly and steadily moving along the K1 Visa/ Permanent Resident process. I have filed my AOS and have completed my Biometrics appointment.

However, I have been advised that I will need to submit a I 693 when I eventually go for my interview. I know that I still need to get some vaccinations (which in hindsight I should have got before I left UK) and have contacted my doctor back in the UK for my vaccination record. My doctors office advised me that they had my records up to 2004 only as I had changed practice in 2006 for university. To cut a long story short, my university doctor has lost my records and I can't remember if I had any more vaccinations post 2004.

I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems?

My plan so far is to book an appointment with an approved doctor (as per https://my.uscis.gov/findadoctor) and get the vaccinations and I 693 completed ASAP.

    Thanks

  6. Hello

I am currently preparing my AOS pack for submission and I have a query about my passport.

My passport expired on 27/10 and I will need to send it back to the UK so I can get a new one. The problem I can foresee is that my old passport has my K1 visa in it and was used in my initial application.

My question is, will I be asked to show my passport again as part of the AOS process? I see that it asks for a copy of the K1 Visa and personal details page of my passport. I have already photocopied these for the AOS and I assume this will be sufficient. However, I thought i'd better make sure as this process has often thrown a curve ball when I least expect it! :)

    Thanks

  7. Hi guys

I have posted previously on this topic, but I am looking for some feedback from the community . I want to make sure that my wife and I dot every i and cross every T before we send the I-485.

We have every document ready to send on the checklist, the only problem is I will need one more vaccination before I can complete the I-693. Obviously, this will delay things somewhat in our submission. I checked the USCIS website about the I-693 submission and it states the following,

"If you are applying for adjustment of status, you may submit Form I-693 in one of the following ways:

    • Submit Form I-693 by mail, together with your Form I-485, Application to Register for Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, to the location specified for your Form I-485 (see “Direct Filing Addresses for Form I-485”).
    • Submit Form I-693 by mail, after filing your Form I-485, to the location specified in your most recent communication with USCIS (for example, a Request for Evidence letter from USCIS).
    • Submit Form I-693 in person, at an interview in a USCIS field office (if an interview is required)."

My question is , has anyone ever submitted a I-485 without including a I-693? I was hoping to get the process of the I-465 started asap (I-765 + I-131 process started) and then complete I-693 once I have all the relevant vaccinations.

    Thanks!

  9. Thanks for the help!

I am nearly finished preparing my Adjustment of Status documents. It advises under the I-693

"if you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. If you are missing any shots from your overseas medical a I-693 vaccination transcription is required to be completed by seeing a Civil Surgeon to have certain portions of the I-693 completed and have the Civil Surgeon certify the form (sealing the original in an envelope and giving you a copy)."

I think I have one missing shot, which I will have to get in the US.

  10. Hello

I have a couple of questions about the process involved with the I- 693. The form itself seems to repeat the questions covered when I had my medical in London. Why do I need to fill this in again?

Originally, for my medical I took my vaccination records, but did not bring them with me to the US. My parents are coming over in 2 weeks, should I ask them bring my vaccination records?

If this is the case I plan to sent the I-693 along with my completed I-131, EAD and AP.

    Thanks

  11. Hi

I arrived into the US on the 5th of August on a K1 visa. I am a little confused about the employment eligibility process. I have read alot of conflicting information on the subject, so i thought I’d better try and get some clarification before progressing my application.

My question is, can I apply for a social security number, before I have submitted my EAD form? Or will the social security office require a completed EAD before providing the social security number?

Lastly, will I be able to start employment with only a Social Security number? Eg while the EAD is processing.

    Thanks

  12. Hi

I arrived in the US on the 5th of August 2016 on a K1 visa. My fiancé and I plan to marry mid October. However, during my 90 day visa period, my UK passport expires (27 October).

My question is, will this affect me unfavorably further along the process when I apply for a Adjustment of Status etc? Will I need to inform those that will process any future forms about my situation?

I foresee a situation where I have a K1 stamp on my old passport and a green card stamp on my new passport. Applying for a new UK passport will be the easy part I assume, as my parents can send the new one over to me.

Any help in this matter will be very much appreciated!

    Thanks

    Cameron
