Hi mochii! regarding your question about chat logs, we just picked out conversations that proves we are "normal" genuine lovers... actually, there were only four pages of chat logs that I had with me during the interview, and on each page it contained 9 screenshots of our conversation.. I tried to make it a point to include the beginning, in between and the most recent conversation we had since we met each other online... so they will see the date and the duration of everything... I also included a screenshot of the duration of our voice calls and video chat from different apps..the other 5 pages (which has 12 pictures on each page) are our pictures when we're together. we also included our hotel bookings, flight tickets, engagement ring receipt (if you have still have a copy)..but take note that the copy of hotel bookings and flight tickets i had with me were incomplete..like, we only had a copy of one way ticket, or we only had one hotel booking copy though we've been to several one's..

My k1 visa was approved in less than 4 months. :)

I was hoping to get the beginning of our chats since we met each other online too but like I said, it all got lost :( I currently only have recent ones. We still have a lot of time to collect more proof since we won't be filing for K-1 till like maybe 3-5 years from now (still poor fresh grads) but do you think it matters if I don't include the beginning of our chat?

Thanks for the reply :) I'll be sure to collect all the hotel bookings/flight tickets and ask him to keep the receipt if he ever decides to buy me ring.

My fiance and I also use many methods to talk to eachother. A combination of iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook Chat.

I sent in screenshots showing call durations ( on Whats app it would show the date, all calls made that day and length of time) but What's app also only goes back a few months, so I picked a few per month to highlight how often we speak.  I submitted Aug- Feb daily call logs so like 4 pages showing that we speak to eachother every single day, multiple times a day.

Submitted Facebook chats between him & I, him and my parents, me and his parents. iMessages from however long my phone had history, which was less than a year. so i did 2/3 per month.

If you are going to visit him, beyond photos and your airline tickets, you can submit receipts of being in the same place at the same time which also counts as evidence from what I have read on here.

When you use a credit card, sometimes the receipt shows your name. I just highlighted my name/date/location on the receipts in combination with a receipt from the same day but my fiance's card/account.

I also screenshotted our Facebook and Instagram relationship. Showing his family tagging me in photos, selfies.. etc..And of course, a page for the engagement including screenshots of us telling our families and the receipt for the ring.

I think our evidence of relationship was around 14 pages, and I submitted 7 pages of 4x photos per page.

As for choosing screenshots, I kind of chose a variety. A few stating that I am about to cross the border, lots of I miss yous and hearts, plans of visiting, plans of engagement party, and some regular convo shots.  Although he is the petitioner, a majority of the screenshots came from my phone as his broke a few months ago.. so we just left sticky notes and an explanation.

But I agree with Rick & Apple that the focus is proof of meeting in the last 2 years, that's what they want to see. So collect what you can as you visit each other next!

I didn't think about the recipts! Thank you! I'll be sure to collect them.

It was 115 days from mailing I-129F package, to Interview.

Visa was delivered 10 days later.

125 days to have visa in hand.

She bought a plane ticket and was here 5 days later.

We got married 9 days later and filed for Adjustment of Status a week later (Nov 14).

EAD (work permit) was approved in 95 days (Feb 17) . Just a few days short of 8 months since filing the I-129F.

Still waiting on the green card.

How long has it been since she applied for a green card?

thanks for the detailed reply! It helps me have a good idea on what to expect.

For the I-129F package, USCIS is more interested in proof that the 2 of you have met in person within the past 2 years. Flight boarding passes, hotel receipts, photos of you together are important.

We had boarding passes for my flights to Cebu, then a screen capture of a Facebook post with a pic of us in a taxi leaving the airport. then we had SuperCat ferry tickets with our names on them and another Facebook post. After that we included photos of us going out to eat with friends and sightseeing.

When my wife, then fiance went to the interview, she had chat logs for the time between my visit and the interview, and vonage billing statements with call logs.

They did not ask to see any of those. They just asked a few questions. If you have a real relationship, the answers are easy.

I know you said you lost you social media chats, but if you have boarding passes, hotel receipts, or credit card receipts showing he made purchase during a trip, and photos of the 2 of you, you should be fine.

Ahh well that's a relief to know that it should be easy. Other posts here say they've includes hundreds of pages long chat logs. I'm the one who's going to be visiting my boyfriend in the US (I don't want him to come to the PH) so all the tickets'll be in my name and I'll try to capture as many photos as I can of us together and with his family. Thanks for the advice!!

Mind if I ask how long did it take for your wife to get her K1 visa and how long it took to get a green card? I heard there's a long wait for filipinos.

  5. Hi all! I'm not filing my K1 visa yet but I just wanted to ask the types of evidence I should provide/collect for it, what did it look like and how you guys did it/formatted it when you sent it in.

Last year my accounts got hacked. I had to delete all my social media and messaging apps so that's one year of chat logs/skype logs with my boyfriend gone. Recently I got a new macbook and my skype history wouldn't load past last month and won't display duration of the calls! So I lost some more proof of our relationship. All I have for proof from skype is screenshots from my phone's skype app (which isn't a lot) since the history is still on my phone but won't show up on my macbook. But even on my phone, the skype logs aren't complete. It's very stressful since I don't want to find myself preparing to file my K1 visa and not having enough evidence because of skype's technical problems. Any advice on how to make sure everything is collected? I'm thinking maybe I should take a screenshot of the date and duration of our skype call everytime we do it.

My boyfriend and I use Couple app to message each other and so far it's been good. It saves all our chat logs inside the app and nothing has been lost YET. With chat logs, do you guys just choose conversations and take screenshots of them? How do you choose that?

Any more advice for collecting proof of relationship will be appreciated! Thank you very much!

  6. Hey everyone! So I got my I-20 today but the school made a mistake with my birthday. I emailed them and they replied:

"We will make a correction on your I-20 in the SEVIS system. Filing a correction might take a few days or a few weeks. We have no way of controlling how long this process of submitting a correction will take."

This worries me! I want everything to be done ASAP. Has anyone else had this problem before?

Also I'd like to change my major when I arrive in the US and before I register for classes. Will the school allow that? I assume that if I do that, they'll update my SEVIS again. Has anyone had experience with this?

  7. If that is a true statement, then yes. You mentioned marriage in your first thread so it all depends on what your intentions are.

We really don't plan on getting married but my boyfriend has mentioned that he would marry me like in a "I love you so much I want to marry you" kind of way but we haven't made any official plans or anything like that. Did you go back to your home country before you married your husband?

  8. I'm sorry for not reading the earlier replies, it's early in the morning and probably too early to be on VJ...

I had been together with my now husband for one year when I applied for an F1 visa and I was going to live with him during this time. Therefor when they asked me where I was going to live while I studied I honestly said I was going to live with my boyfriend. The CO asked "Are you planning to get married?" My answer was "We are not PLANNING anything". He explained to me that if I wanted to live and work in the US I needed an immigrant visa. He then told me my student visa would arrive in about 14 days :) So in my case it was all good.

Oh that's great news!! That makes me feel a lot less worried now. :) I'll use "We are not planning anything" if the officer asks me if we're planning to get married. Thank you so much!

  9. Oh I see... I have a check so that won't be a problem... How much dooes it cost you to send it via money order? Or can some of your relatives in LA send a check to PCC for the application fee?

I'm so glad I found someone with almost the same situation as mine and same community college application. I'm so nervous because I don't have anyone I can relate to with this application.

I really really hope that we'll both get accepted at PCC ???

I'm not sure how much it is, I just asked someone to mail it for me. I think you can have relatives in LA send it for you, just tell them to make a note that it's for your application. :)

    Good luck to us! :)

  10. Thanks so much for the info! ? are you going to scan the application form and sponsor form also along with the bank statements, bank certs etc.?

Oh, and one more question. Do you have any close or distant relatives in LA?

I'm just weighing down my possibilities of getting admitted at PCC and getting approved in the F1visa interview. ?

Yes, I'm going to scan everything and just send it. Paying the application fee is really hassle though, since you can't pay it via credit card/wire transfer. You have to pay it via money order so you'll need a check. :\ I even scanned my check and proof I mailed it.

I have aunts & uncles in LA. I totally understand! I'm super nervous as well! At least you're not going through this alone haha! :)

  11. Thanks so much for replying :)) Are you still going to send your HS transcripts?

Oh and what was your undergrad degree here in PH? And what AA are you planning to take at PCC?

Goodluck to both of us. ???

No problem! Yes I'm planning to send them scanned copies of my HS diploma, HS transcripts and college transcripts.

My undergrad was Architecture (I didn't graduate though) here and I'm planning to take up AS Building Construction. :)

  12. Oh wow! I feel so elated when I read that you're planning to apply at a community college also in Pasadena. :)

What kind of proof are you going to show that you came from a school with English medium? And are you still going to send your HS transcripts with college transcript? And also do you have a sponsor for that?

Really hope I'll be able to get admitted at PCC. It's the only school I'm going to apply since my bf is living there.

I'll give an update with my application ?

Hope to hear or get an update from you also ???

I asked my college for a "Certificate of English as Medium of Instruction" from my college (I have a few years of college here). My sponsor for my studies in the US is my mom here. :)

I remember reading for PCC that you can just show proof you went to an english speaking school with a certificate/letter from the school and transcripts that show you don't have any marks below a C. If you can meet those requirements then you won't have to take the an english exam. :)

I hope we both get into PCC! I'll definitely update you soon, I'm submitting my application this week! :)

  13. Hi! Mochii. We almost have the same situation... I also have a US citizen boyfriend. And I'm also planning to apply at a community college in Pasadena. I just enrolled at an IELTS review center and planning to take the exam on September 10. Since the application requirements deadline is until October 1st only for international students. And I also have a few questions regarding F1 visa requirements and interview.

First, will there be a problem if my boyfriend will be my sponsor for my studies in US? Coz I've read in some forums that there's a big chance of approval if the sponsor is a close relative. He will also support all my expenses there and I will be staying with him since his apartment is just a few minutes away from the community college. Will this be a problem also? Coz it's like showing that I have a more strong ties in US rather than in PH.

Second, my BS course here in PH is related to medicine. And I want to apply in an AA-T Psychology degree in US or Do I have to pick a degree that is not common here in PH so that my chance of getting approved is high?

Third, How did you send your application requirements to the community college? Is it via mail or courier?

Fourth, for the F1 visa interview what supporting documents or any examples of documents can I bring to show my strong ties in PH? if ever the consul ask for it...

These are all my questions for now... Hopefully someone would answer..

And also mochii do you already have your I-20? How many days did you wait to receive it after sending your application requirements?

    :)

What a coincidence! I'm also applying to community college in Pasadena! and my deadline is October 1 as well, perhaps we're applying for the same college? Lol. I didn't take the IELTS, I'm just going to provide them with proof that I come from a school where English is the medium of instruction. My situation is quite complicated but hoping for the best.

I'm not so sure about your first and second question, I don't think it matters what kind major you want to apply to. My honest answer if they ask why I choose to study for an AA in the states is because it's shorter than getting a BS/BA here, I think that's a legit reason.

I actually haven't sent my applications yet. I'm planning to just email the community colleges (I'm applying to three, Pasadena is my first choice) my application because they said on their website that's fine. This one college needs my official transcripts though so for that I have to go to my college and have them mail it.

Your fourth question is a good question! I haven't thought about that haha but I have a friend who studied at CC in LA, he said having family here is enough ties to the PH. Don't know if that's still enough but I hope someone answers your question.

Good luck with IELTS and applications! :) I'd love an update if that's okay, considering we're practically in the same boat. :)

  14. You don't have to divulge anything they do not ask of you. If they do not ask about friends or relatives in the USA, you do not have to tell them. Remember, answer their questions as briefly and accurately as possible and do not "offer" any more information than asked.

Hi! Glad to see another filipina-american couple reply. :) What if they ask "Do you have a boyfriend?" or "Do you have friends in the US?" ? Would they ask that?

  15. My boyfriend and I met on reddit about a year ago, he lives in the US and I live in the Philippines. We've been in an LDR ever since. I had problems with my college here so I decided to apply to community colleges in the US to finish an associates degree. Now I have a few questions:

    1. When I get interviewed for an F1 visa, should I tell the officer I have an LDR US citizen boyfriend? I know it's fraud to enter the US on an F1 visa with the intention to stay and get married. I'll be studying in a different state from where he lives so we'd still be in an LDR, will that help prove that I do intend to go back home after I finish my degree?

    2. My boyfriend has mentioned the idea for marriage, our relationship is genuine. If we do get married to stay together for good will saying I met him online before I went to the US be suspicious?

I'm really worried because I feel like everything points to us being a fraud but we're 100% not. What can I do to help get approved?
