hmm well what about the temporary working visa, is that in the HB2 category? As far as college, i don think she wants to do much but maybe she would for school. defiantly will look into that.
all these visa types are just so confusing for me. Thanks for your reply.

Hello I tried searching to find was i was looking for but got mixed answers. so here is my question. My niece is here on a tourist visa, she would like to work and maybe take some ESL (English Second Language) classes at local community college. She is looking for work mainly in retail and such. What would be my best bet for her? Based on the research i seen two different fees for this. Anyways TIA.

Overland Park is where my receipt said it went. feels like it is lost in the shuffle haha. my zip code says Omaha is the Field Office we need. such a long dragging out process.

Same boat too for my wife. Her expected case completion is May 2021

Hi there! When did you file?
Hi sorry I forgot to add that. We filed and paid on July 21, 2020. Got receipt for July 27th 2020.

My wife’s receipt says Overland Park, KS but I did my zip code for field office location I have Omaha. I live in Western Iowa. We are at expected case completion of May 2021. Nothing of Biometrics yet or anything. Waiting impatiently lol.
Says this:Estimated wait time:
We are taking longer than expected to process your case. You do not need to do anything at this time.

You certainly don't need a round trip ticket on an immigrant visa.
You are right. I double checked with US Embassy in Costa Rica. They said I am good with one way ticket since my Visa is marriage based (IR1). Thank you for the insight Hypnos!!

Assuming you're talking about a K-1 visa (you failed to specify), then no.
Sorry Hypnos. It is IR1 visa. Not sure the differences Completely.

@Sidney and Dennis @Wingsfan just added her info to our spreadsheet. She's from Costa Rica, got a checklist for wrong birth certificate. Did you verify that you submitted the correct one to the NVC?
At review Dept SD to Review WEEKS Case Complete (CC) Review dept to CC - DAYS SD to CC - DAYS SD to CC - WEEKS PD to CC - WEEKS Filed via Visa Class Mail CR1 6/5/2017 9.86 6/17/2017 12 81 11.57 70 Mail CR1 Yes. Got it corrected and they sent it on to Interview.

Thanks everyone,
Well when i did file my taxes i sent in the W7 form to IRS in Austin Texas. The IRS showed nothing about it. That was August of this year. All i got was a run around from IRS. Not a straight answer from anyone. So if i filed MFS i pay in, if i file MFJ refund. So i guess i am pretty screwed there. My tax lady helped me out with W7, but like i said no one at IRS could give me a straight answer.

Ok folks i am just making sure i am understanding this correctly. I am American Citizen and Sponsor. I am not using my IRA for assets because i will be making still under 25K for Poverty guidelines (I have a son too) . I also let my lawyer go due to financial reasons, and they did a few things i was not too happy about.
so here is my main focus:
#1. I need a joint sponsor, so i asked my brother who is single to do it. Does he fill his own I-864 (but as joint sponsor) and scan them back to me or mail them back to me?
#2. I have almost everything of a copy in Spanish and English for my marriage certificate, and my Costa Rican wife's birth certificates. Do i just print them off to send for my wife (beneficiary) IV package? I have copies of everything but police certificate because waiting for my brother on the joint sponsor I-864. Costa Rica has expiration of 3 months on Police Certificate.
#3 if i send in the IV package i will send in my AOS as well in one big envelope correct.
What i have now is for STEP 4 (collect financial docs):
A: I have tax transcripts from 2013, 2014 and copy of my 2015 tax return due to i cannot file until my wife has a SSN.
B: I started a new job 2 weeks ago but i am paid weekly and my boss will give me as many copies of my weekly pay stubs for this as i need. the stubs do have company name, address.
*** Do i need my boss to sign it, if so does it have to be notorized?
C: i have access to my certified birth certificate, my wife's as well, but how do i go about A signed, written statement describing the relationship?
D: Proof of assest? Should i bother since i have to have a joint sponsor?
For STEP 5
Like i said before i have many copies, plus from what the lawyer i used to have sent me as well from case file.
Do I send in both packages (IV and AOS)?
Any help would be great. Thank you.

Does she have a SSN yet? If so, re-file the same return (married filing jointly) with her SSN. You probably have already received a refund based on married filing separately (MFS) rates, and they won't give you the extra refund you're entitled to until you file as MFJ with proper SSN.
Back in 2014, I filed as MFJ, and applied for ITIN for my wife. We were denied the ITIN because they stated that she qualified for applying for an SSN. So if I were you, I'd abandon the ITIN and go for the SSN if she doesn't already have one.
Good luck!
Russ&Caro,
I filed 2015 MFJ, so IRS lady told me to refile and try MFS, and i should still get refund just not as large. Well if the NVC will allow me to copy of my revised (MFS) taxes and send it then we can pursue SSN. Yeah even IRS lady said try to get SSN instead haha. So i am waiting on tax transcripts for 2013, and 2014 in mail. i need to call my CPA in AM about refile.
Thanks for the perspective and advice!! Cheers!!

Hey everyone, i was Married aug 1, 2015. went to file my taxes for 2015, and my CPA had us do married jointly. so we sent in W7 for for ITIN number for wife. well they could not give out info about it because i didnt check a box about allowing info to be released. this was Monday. Now IRS says there is nothing in system about ITIN or my return. Do i refile taxes then instead as Married Seperate? Or do i try to run this gambit again for Married Joint??
Even though we were married since 2015 should i change my filing until she has either ITIN or SSN?

Hi everyone, i have a wife from Costa Rica, my son (which i do not claim as dependent) and myself. Going by the poverty guidelines in my household is 3 and need to make over 25,200. Well i am more at 20,000 salary, but i do have 23,000 in an IRA. Can i use that IRA as an asset for getting me over the poverty line marker.
I also am starting a new job Oct 17th and will be getting a raise in pay as well of a dollar.
I would rather not have a joint sponsor, that way this is all on me. any help and advice would be fabulous.
-
Hey thanks for all your help. Looks like i need a joint sponsor, which is ok. My friend (and)my son's Godfather will do that for me.
-
They go by what's on your taxes, if they are not claimed then I believe it's just for 2 people then.
then i claimed my wife and I, not my son. so then still two or would it be three?
-
Hey everyone, i am married to Costa Rican woman, anyways our case is at NVC. One of the things i am not sure about is the form for Affidavit of Support, Well my ex claims my son on taxes, but should i still count him as household members. he is at my house 1/2 the time and ex's the other half. If so according to Poverty Guideline form, it says for 2 in household at 125% (for all other sponsors since i am not in military) the income is 20,025. my Tax gross income was 20,056. I hope my question is clear for ya all.
Do i need a co-sponsor then?
