  1. I've heard many stories that the new airport is really nice. I'll be going back there next month so I'm really excited to see the new changes.

same line in Seattle. actually that is what Seattle customs want you to do.

it was quick and easy. AND you only need to fill out only one Customs Claim Ticket

    hope this helps...

  2. thought i would share that my wife and i just got back from VietNam and we were at the "new-er" Airport (Tan Son Nhat).

it was really nice compaired to the "old" airport. it was cleaner, brighter and faster service than before.

Leaving was real easy. and we did not have any problems at all with Customs or Immigration Officers.

We flew on EVA Airlines (our first time on this airline company) and it went very smooth.

Seattle, Washington was our US Entry port and it only took 8 minutes from the plane to pass thru customs. My wife had no problems at all with US Customs. She showed them her VietNam passport and her "green card". That's it!

So, i thought i would share this. i have been reading some horror stories about Airports and Customs.

    Take care all

  3. Congratulations to you both, dkalXuan and ridejewel. Now the hard part is remembering to apply to remove the conditions in two years!

    STL_HCMC

Thank you STL_HCMC. does Visa Journey have a reminder on the website?

    Thank you to all.

and good luck to everyone else

  4. update,

We recieved our card on 08.08.07. could not believe how fast it took (considering that the process of HCMC took so long, i guess i am not used to fast when it comes to this).

my wish that EVERYONE's whole process is this fast

    God's speed

  5. Monday 30 July we had our AOS interview in Portland, Oregon. it went pretty fast. The nice lady that was to interview us said that there are new questions that they have to ask as of today there are new 'rules' and fees that also started as of today.

First, she swore us in to tell the truth. then she asked me about 5 questions, mainly about my finances and job status (how long, how much i make ect....).

then she told me that i could not help my wife answer any of the questions that she was going to ask her.

she asked her about 14 questions. (from when did we meet, to any ties to terrorist activity to being a hooker to illegal gambling. One question i thought was odd, she asked my wife if she ever said to anyone if she was an American or told anyone in Vietnam that she was an American.

She then told us that she was going to approve my wife's AOS then she took her EAD card, stamped her passport and told us her 'green card' will be coming in 2 weeks and that we need to apply again in 2 years to take of the 'conditional' part of her perm resident card off.

just a side note... we took in many pictures of our wedding and more paperwork that they said we needed to bring and she did not ask for anything other than any bills or property that we shared. they seemed to have everything already. but i am glad that we came over prepared.

Thanks to all my VJ friends who has help us in the past. there was a lot i would not been able to do without a lot of your support. This is truely one of the finest websites that i have ever used.

if i can help anyone ever, it would be my honor...

  6. Just to let everyone know, we had our Bio-Metrics last friday (05.25.2007 10:am at the Portland, Oregon office) and it went very smoothly. it ONLY took us 15 minutes to complete. Word of advice, they were very strick about ANY cell phones in the building. We saw about 5 people being escorted out of the building because of this. (the appointment notice did say NOT to bring cell phones).

Last week we got an RFE for our AOS (I-485). it seems that they wanted an updated Affidated of Support FORM I-864EZ) has any one else needed to do this?

It has been 4 months now since Xuan has been in Portland and it has been totally awesome and the both of us could not be happier.

Thank you again for all of you that has given us great direction and advice.

ill keep in touch and hope and pray for all

    Take care, David

  7. i would like to chime in just a little on this too. first and foremost. i am so so sorry about the death of your husband. i can only imagine what you are going through.

    i will not even judge.

i can only think that your mind is going through a lot. you are just trying to think of what to do now. this has to be very stressfull for you. i will keep a good thought for you. i hope that you will find peace with all of this.

lean on your friends and family in times like this.

the fact that you ARE here in America now is something that should not be judged by others, it might be just as bad for you back in your home land. hey, at least you came here by the book and legal.

    take care and good luck

    keep us updated...

  8. so far, my wife is not at all homesick. there is sometimes a little guilt. how it is so nice here and her family is struggling in VN.

I also have to chime in that the fruit in Vietnam is 10 Times better than here. my favorite is Than Long (Dragon fruit).

we plan on making another trip to Vietnam in late Oct. so that should help if she does feel a little homesick

  9. Words can not describe the feelings that you are going thru. i am so sorry for your situation.

please take comfort in knowing that everything happens for a reason.

you seem to have a good heart and kind soul. i know someone is out there for you. just do not give up!

    keep your chin up

take care. let us all know how things turn out for you

good luck in your journey. i will keep a good thought for you

    D.....

  10. i am so sorry to hear about your news. i can not even begin to know what you are feeling right now.

the only suggestion i might add that might help is to have your Fiancee get in touch with his local congressman or senator's office.

a good lawyer would not hurt too.

    do not give up

    keep a positive thought

    we will pray for you

    take care

    david and xuan

  11. i am so so happy for you. i know that you have waited for a long time and you totally deserve this.

i totally agree with everything Chuck and Kim have stated.

keep warm. could be a lot worse, you could be in the 'mud' season in Maine.

keep in touch with us all.

    have a safe flight....
