Yes. This was very unusual. I have absolutely nothing in my record. My husband had some arrest issues mainly based on public intoxication, nothing criminal. I dont know what they saw about my marriage but that doesnt worry me because no matter what they do, they cant make 4 yrs of marriage suddenly be non existent. I was just worried they might use a technicality to deny me, which would be harder to challenge. Anyhow, hope all this is coming to an end soon as I received a call to go for my Oath ceremony this week.

No! I never heard of Wendi Murdoch's story! but people like those are the ones who make it difficult for us. At this point I wish I had some superpowers to show my IO videos from my past. I am even thinking i shouldve kept my big mouth shut about the rehab because that is what started all this. But I guess being truthful can lead to a cost. i am thinking how they are wasting time on my case with the big case load they have for GCs. I understand they need to do this because there are some suspect filers but i wish they had something in place that they can use to confirm during marriage instead of waiting for when someone comes for interview. Like maybe doing random checks to homes because this is absurd. And yes, I am filing the 5yr not the 3yr which makes it the more absured

I only assumed they are the same questions they asked me during GC interview coz they kept on referring to my file. A little background- I was married for 4 years but now divorced. So the questions were about how we met, where we met, where we lived. Did we live together? How long did we live in a certain address. When did we start living together. who talked to who first etc.
I strongly feel the problem here is this and I hope others can learn from me, At one point in our marriage, my husband was in Alcohol rehab. Yet when they asked me if we had ever lived apart I said No. They asked me why i said we had never lived apart yet my husband was in rehab at some point. They seem to consider that as living separate. My question is, is Rehab not like a hospital? So if a spouse is in hospital will that be considered living separate? Also during my first N400 interview, when going through paperwork as they do, when we got to the point about divorced, he asked did you live together through out. The good thing is that at that point, while i said yes, I did point out that there was a point he was in Rehab.
I feel my IO is holding on to that technicality. I am just tired and this waiting game is not fun.

So i did not want to reply before the interview. I recently went and I was questioned for an hour. They asked so many questions that they had asked at my 1st GC interview and in the interview to remove my conditions and many others i believe are from back ground checks.I came out of there with a headache and a promise from the IO to wait for the decision in my mail.

Been married only once to same person for close to five years. I was questioned about why I divorced him of which I explained. He didn't seem satisfied with my reason for divorce. I told him the main reason and said and other issues. He asked what other issues. I listed them. He then told me he needs time to go through my paperwork. I guess GC. However I think the issue might be our living/residence issue which we declared during my GC interview. At which point he had moved into a rehab, so we were 'living' together but he was in rehab for a couple of months. This is information we volunteered and let the IO know upfront. besides that I can't see anything else. My ex and I both have a clean background, his rehab was for alcohol not illegal drugs. I later learned he had been ordered by a judge to do a paternity test but that has nothing to do with me. It was part of the reason our marriage broke up.

I passed the questions, reading and writing. I am very proficient in English. The paper one is given after interview indicated I had passed that portion. But he still told me a decision could not be made.

I went for mine recently. Filed for the 5 year one but was Divorced last year. Suprisingly after the IO got to the page when going through the application, he asked me why i got divorced? ANd grilled me about it. Then he started asking me questions as if i was being interviewed for GC which i was not prepared at all. It caught me by suprise and at end of it, he told me decision not made.
All you need to go with is your Divorce decree but you need to be prepared incase you find an IO who feels the needs to question you on your previous marriage

I went for my N400 interview 2 weeks ago. I passed the civics test and my IO asked me some questions form my GC application and told me decision could not be made. Now I have been asked to go back for a 2nd interview to finish the process. Is this normal? OR should i be worried.
Form I-751 - Process surpassing Expiration of Current Green Card
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion

When you submit your application, they send you a letter extending you 'legal status' for one year. The letter + your expired green card are good enough. I used the letter+expired GC when travelling so many times and had no issues at customs when coming into the country. Airlines had not problems with it except BA.
