  1. This is a continuation of my previous posts (Had the interview, documents requested). My husbands interview was Nov 13 and the interviewer requested additional documents. She had circled on a form the documents she wanted, they were:

I 134 notorized, I 864, bank document showing a balance minimum $1000, more proof of established relationship, Good Character Certificate from Istanbul Police and photo copies of my passport stamps.

I won't repeat in detail here, but all of these documents had been previously sent and showed received and in possesion on the interview letter. He also had some of these documents with him in person at the interview, which she declined to take from him, stating to send them with the rest that were requested.

Anyway, as suggested in one of the replies I got on the other thread, I sent all they wanted and more.

    We sent:

I 134 notorized, I 864, I 864EZ (I qualify, previously sent), Income tax returns last 3 yrs, Letter from my employer with income verification, the last 12 months of bank statements showing deposits and balances, bank printout showing my current balance and date I opened my account, photos I originally sent and additional photos of us together in Turkey, copies of im chats with accompanying screen shots of webcams (2 conversations for every year together), photo copies of letters and envelopes post marked sent between us over the last 5 yrs, photocopy of a letter with postmarked envelope his father sent to me after we married, and photocopies of every page in my two passports (name change) showing visa stamps of all entries into Turkey and another Good Character Certificate from where he lives currently in Istanbul. In total, we sent 90 pages of documents and proofs.

The interviewer had told Ferhat that his interview was good, and the only things she wanted were the documents she asked for. Those have now been sent and should have been received at the Embassy yesterday (Friday Nov 13).

    My next question is ........

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of how long until he receives the visa now? Had she had everything she wanted at the time of interview, the visa could have been granted right then right? Will he be notified by phone, email or letter by the embassy? Or will we just be in permanent "limbo" with no indication of when this will be over?

    Any and all replies welcome

    Thanks in advance

  2. actually, some CO's just "say" things are missing when they really are not.

They sometimes do this to test the individuals to see if the person immigrating will just give up.

If they come back with the requested info (even though it may have been there the whole time), then they will grant the visa with no more questions.

    Its just their tactics.

This happened to me. They asked for the I-864 again, said my co-sponsors info was COMPLETELY missing (though when I called by phone i inadvertently heard info that was only on the co-sponsors form...their income amount), also they said we were missing the medical...though that was the only thing my husband really brought with him by hand.

So, don't give up, its just a test.

This time we are throwing MASSIVE amounts of paperwork at them. hahaha

What happens if they request things and you have them with you? Do they still reschedule or did they ask for it at the interview?

Well, the interviewer requested a few documents and proofs, some of which my husband had with him at that time. But because he didn't have 100% of what she wanted, she refused to take what he had. She told him when he got the other documents she requested to send everything in one package. So, he returned to Istanbul with the documents he took with him and no visa.

I Fedex'd the documents she wanted from me, the next day and the day my husband received them he put in an envelope and sent them to the Embassy in Ankara UPS. The Embassy should have received it yesterday (Friday Nov 21).

I hope in some way I helped with your last question ..

  3. Yes can anyone shed some light? I went through all my papers tonight, I have the copy of the I 864, all my tax returns, a letter from my employer and the receipt for payment for submitting the affidavit. You would think that all that information would have been transferred with the application and other documents to the embassy in Ankara.

Apparently through negligence or some other sort of happening, those documents went missing.

So I filled out another I 864EZ, copied all my tax returns, copied my original employer letter. Filled out a I134 and will have it notorized tomorrow, copied one years worth of bank statements showing all deposits into my account. Copied all of my passort stamps showing when I was in Turkey (although I have already done this with my original application). Plus I have an updated employer letter with current income that I will have notorized tomorrow as well.

I hope and pray this satisfies the interviewer.

    Katie

Didn't the NVC forward the orginal I-864 and I-134 with your packet to the embassy?

Do we have to fill another one out? This would be the third one that I would fill out if that was the case. Not that I really mind, if it would prevent further waiting. It just seems strange that the NVC would be asking for this material and make sure that they have everything to then go to the interview and for them to request more stuff that the NVC should have sent to the embassy in the first place.

    Can anyone shed some light?

  4. Ok, no problem. I will fill out any and all forms they ask for. But just for information sake, I was under the impression after all I had read while filling out my applications, that if I qualified for the I184EZ that this was the only form I needed to fill out. Not the I 184 or the I 134. But only the I 184EZ. And the NVC appected this! ...

So just so I know, as it's eating me, can anyone let me know if that is correct? And if so, why would the interviewer request a new one from me .. when i obviously already qualified at some point on this journey??

Thank you in advance for anyone who can answer this for me..

    Katie

    HI dear

You need to fill out the Affidavit of support I 134 and notorized is different than I864 or I864 EZ. you do not need to contact the congressman because is just documents missing and that's all. at least they are telling you waht missing. just send the originals

    Good luck

  5. Thanks Trinket ... I did make a new topic of this :) ... I have no idea why the interviewer would need or want notorized copies of my I864. She also asked to see my bank statement showing what my balance is in my checking account. I originally sent 2 letters from friends, I think I will send copies of them again. My husband is taking more copies of our emails and im conversations.

Thank you for your reply .. It helps

    Ktindi,

I would suggest you to make a new topic about this. anyways why would interviewer need notarized copies of i-864, I don't think even NVC needs notarized copies.

Anyways, there is nothing you can do but to submit these stuff all over again, do contact your congressman, and give out a few more affidavits from friends and family that they are aware of the relationship, just make sure you overwhelm them with proof materials.

All the best, do hope your husband gets his approval soon (F)

  6. Thank you Amy,

That's my plan so far. I too took photo copies of the passport and they should have it. But alas, they don't. My husband took copies of everything with him (expect my passport) to the interview. The interviewer said "no photocopies" ... even when the letter for his interview stated that they have the originals. Again, they don't.

Thank you for replying Amy. It helps just to have a couple of words with someone who knows what I'm talking about.

    Good luck to you!

    Katie

    Hello all

My husband had his interview and they sent him away wanting more documents. The letter for his interview stated that all "original" police certificates were in their posession, but the interviewer stated it was missing. So, ok, he can get a new one in Istanbul for that time period. The interviewer also requested affidavit of support (I-864)(notarized I-134) we must have an original document. we cannot accept faxes or photocopy. I had sent the original of my I 864EZ with our I 130 application with all supporting financial documents. He took photocopies of all that with him to the interview.

So my question is ... Do I fill out a new I 864EZ and have it notorized with all my financial proofs and then Fed Ex to him to forward on to the Embassy in Ankara? I do qualify for the EZ form. Or is the interviewer wanting different forms than I had originally submitted? I have a new letter from my employer stating how long I've been employed and my annual salary. I am way above the guidelines.

They have everything they could possibly need. All copies of my plane tickets, hotels, etc.

The interviewer is also asking that I photocopy all stamps in my passport, proving that I was in Turkey.

I'm so confused and we just want this whole thing over. I cannot believe how frustrating this all is.

Can someone please shed some light on this for me? I want to be sure I am sending the right documents.

  9. Thanks for the info Mina :star:

and thank you everyone for the good wishes :)

    Hello everyone

The NVC has finally completed our case! Yes! After a few requests for corrections on documents, we have finally been completed here. So is our case automatically forwarded to Ankara embassy? Will I be notified when it is received there? I ask because there are spaces for that info on our timelines :)

    Katie

    Hi Katie,

Congratulations and yes your case will now be forward to Ankara and you'll be notified as soon as they receive it.

Best Wishes to you both and Good Luck on the Interview!!!

  10. Well ... yes, we did get hung up at NVC for a while, but it wasn't for not reading or following the shortcut advice. My husbands "Good Character Certificate" from Northern Cyprus was not worded the exact way NVC wanted it. So he flew to Cyprus and got another certificate. It was also rejected due to the title "Conviction Record Certificate". I spoke to 3 people at the NVC and they all told me that the certificate would not be accepted until it said the exact words "Good Character Certificate". The North Cyprus Consulate in Istanbul told my husband that they would not reissue the certificate under any different name. We had the consulate write an official letter stating that but that it was the same certificate that the NVC was requesting. It was finally accepted and our case completed.

    Katie

I can't answer your question, but CONGRATS on the case complete  you spent more time getting thru NVC than you did getting thru USCIS  someone didn't follow James or lotto's NVC shortcuts
  11. Hello group (F)

We are still in the "pending" classification with Calif service center with a received date of June 25, 2007...My husband has moved from his town in central Turkey to Istanbul for a job while waiting his immigration to the USA.

I've read the "how to" for changing addresses at the Homeland Security site using the A-11 form ... however, in reading the instructions it seems to only apply to the applicant here in the states? ..

We need to inform someone of his address change in Turkey so all documents Ankara sends him arrive ... Turkish postal service isn't the greatest ...

Thanks in advance for any advice

  12. Hello good people,

I've been a lurking member a while now and I'm finally ready to send in our package. I'm so afraid of making a mistake or not including a document. According to the list of items needed here on this site, I have everything to accompany my I-130 application. I have 3 letters from our friends who have testified to our marriage and relationship being bonifide.

At this stage would a statement from myself be helpful? A letter of introduction so to speak? With any of our photos or "proof" attached? Or will that be my husband's department during the actual interview?

Also just to clarify for myself as I am dizzy with reading and re-reading all the info here :) The financial support documents are in the next phase correct? Not to be sent with this application?

Thank you in advance for your help,

    Katie Killian-Indi
