  1. Hi, Sandra -

Thank you for all your help on this forum. I attended my AOS interview in Los Angeles based on approved VAWA on Sept. 24th. They interview went ok but not great. I had a very hard time remembering all the dates. they held it for review and we haven't heard since. They told us it could take 90 days but I've heard that they normally approve in a couple of weeks... should I read into this as perhaps there being a problem with my AOS interview? Is this a normal delay?

  2. Hi everyone.

I literally just had my AOS interview after the approval of my VAWA. The interview lasted 10 minutes and the officer was courteous at all times. I was asked the yes or no questions and a few questions regarding where I lived and when we split up and things like that. I was NOT given a decision on the spot and I was told that they had all the information they needed at this time. They gave me a paper stating that they have 3 months to make a decision and that if I don't hear back from them at that point, I should make an infopass.

I am EXTREMELY nervous and I have no idea what to think. I am so afraid if it being denied that I don't know what to do. My attorney said she could tell I was nervous on my interview but that I shouldn't worry too much.

Can anyone please provide some insight or explain if this is the standard procedure. I've read so many things that I can't even put my thoughts together anymore.

  3. Hi, everyone!

Today after working on my VAWA case for more than 1 year and a half, I have finally received the APPROVAL from USCIS !!!! I am still finding it hard to believe it and feel like I'm dreaming. I am so grateful to God and to my attorney.  Praise the LORD!

  4. Hi, Sandra -

I hope you can help me. I am really worried because I have not heard about my case for a long time. I am working with an attorney and she filed a ton of documents on May 23th 2016. We got an RFE to provide cohabitation which we replied to on December 2016 with another ton of documents that completely proved that we were living together while the abuse happened. We have no heard anything ever since although they did notify tht they got our answer. My attorney says she won't file an inquiry until the case has been 60 days outside of the processing date on the USCIS website which today is May 9th 2016.  I thought about an Infopass but I've checked at least 5 times and the local office never has any appointments available.

Is a delay like this normal? It's been almost 1 year since we filed and have not had any news so I am very concerned.

    Can you please advise?

    Thank you!

  5. Hi . Does anyone know how long it takes for USCIS to make a decision after the evidence for the RFE was received? I got a notice that they received it yesterday and want to know what to expect.

Also, the deadline to submit the evidence was Dec 6th. My attorney for some reason played it very very close and we have the delivery notification (and proof) from the mail that they delivered on that exact date Dec. 6th. However, I got a notification via email from USCIS that they received yesterday. Will this mean they will reject the case? The package was delivered on the deadline to their mail room but it took them a week to say they received it!

    Can anyone help?

  6. Hi everyone.

I received a notice of RFE via text message this morning for my VAWA case that was filed on March 2016. I am quite anxious to see what they are requesting but I noticed that my attorney did not file the psychological evaluation or the updated background check (the one they submitted was over a year old). I remember reading somewhere that the criminal backgroudn check should not be any older than 6 months so I am hoping that is what they want us to send. I am not sure why my attorney decided not to send the psych evaluation and I am scared that we did not provide enough evidence of mental suffering.

Does anyone have any experience with RFEs? Is my case a 50/50 chance of getting approved still?

    Blessings to everyone.

  7. Hi Everyone!

I filed for Vawa on March 22, 2016 so it will be 5 months in a few days. I noticed that the processing times on the USCIS website recently changed from a bit of a backlog to 5 months processing time. I did get the initial receipt and the prima facie but no news after this.

Question: Has anyone who filed around this time received any new about their case yet?
