Hi!...I am kind of in the same situation.
I've got a job offer oversea, but I now hold a conditional GC for 10 mths only.
My husband is a USC and he will remain in the States.
We are thinking of me taking the job and move oversea BUT come back once every quarter for a few weeks, then leave again?
This way the periods that I will be out of the states will be 3-3.5 months at a time?
Any comment?
Thanks,
M.

My wife just came back from visting the Philippines. She had no problem at all. However she had went to the Philippine embassy in Los Angeles and got a name change in her pasport. She took the Marriage license but because of the name change in the pasport she was never ask for the marriage license. You should have no problem
Just one quick question.
When she got back, did she get any stamp in the passport or any document at all?
I got nothing. Is this common?
Thanks

I just came back from a 3-week oversea trip after getting Greencard.
At Immigration, I showed my passport and my green card. No problem getting back in at all.
But I didn't get any stamp in the passport at all!?!?!?
Is this common? Anyone??
Thanks

Thanks for the info! We'll be ready when we get the good news.
Thanks again!
Pulteseller,
Yes, please go ahead preparing those documents in advance....BUT...caution on the Medical exam.
Once issued, the medical exam is good for 1 year (but the vaccine supplyment is still valid) and you will have to use it again when you apply for Green card. So time it wisely.....meaning do not get it way to early. If your medical exam is older than 1 year by the time you apply for Greeen Card, you will have to take medical exam again here and it can cost you big $$$$.
This is based on my firsthand experience and I've heard of other cases sharing the same experience. Anyway, I also heard others "claimed" that they didn't redo the med exam even it is more than 1 year.
Good Luck,

Hi,
As mentioned in the instruction part, all document for AOS,EAD and AP are to be sent to Chicago address.
My question is how can we check the processing time? Which service center to check?
Thanks,
Monchan
If you look at the top of this page you'll see the link "processing times".
Which Service Center to choose? THe one I submitted for K1 to?

I came in with K1 visa. At POE, the officer wrote down on my I-94 card a "A-followed by 8-digit number"
1. Do I put this "A-follow by 8-digit number" from my I-94 in all the forms that ask for "A#"?
2. What "A" stand for? "Alien Number?" "Alien Registration Number"?
3. Will this number be used in my Alien Registration Card (Green card) once I get it?
Thanks,

Sawasdi all Thai friends,
As a new comer, I need advise as follow:
RE: SSN
1. I've got my SSN here from many years ago while I was studying in CA. Now I entered the US again with K-1 visa. Is my SS number and SS card still valid? Or I should contact SS to get a new one?
RE: Maiden name vs husband's
1. Should I choose to have my maiden name or my husband's last name while filing for AOS here?
-Do we have options to chooe either one or it is mandtory we use husband's?
- I prefer to use my maiden name. So it will be still consistant with what's shown on my passport.
2. What are pros and cons keeping my maiden name vs. using husband's?
Please advise,
Million thanks in advance.
Monchan
P.S. I am in Glover Park, Washington DC now. Would love to meet thai friends in the area. Drop me a line, please.

Question:
1. As k-1 holder, do we have option of continuing to use my own last name after the marriage?
2. If I have to change, then my last name in my ID here (i.e. Driving license) will be different from the one shown in my passport? Willl there be a problem when I travel back and forth?
Thank you
M
Can I extend my re-entry permit, as I got NOA extending my GC for 1 more yr?

Hi all,
My GC is expiring in Nov 08, together with my re-entry permit.
But I already got an NOA extending my GC for 1 more year.
Does it mean my re-entry permit got extended too automatically? or I should apply for a new one?
Many Thanks,
