Hey there,
I don't really know anything about NYC venues, but you may want to check on theknot.com. They have local message boards, and tons of other brides go there when planning their weddings. I got a lot of information from my local board when planning my wedding (which is next weekend(!)) Good luck!
Thanks. I have now registered with the Knot so hopefully I can find somewhere soon.
Hope your wedding day was wonderful!

I will be flying into JFK and living in NY so hoping to ge the temporary EAD. Excuse my ignorance but do the forms have to be submitted at the airport to get this?
-
I don't know if this is the right forum for this but here goes...
We just got our NOA2
so can now start and think about the reality of the wedding etc. We don't intend to book anything until the visa is finally approved but are looking into places in New York City that can be booked at relatively short notice for a small number of guests and aren't too expensive. We don't really want to go to City Hall as we've heard it's a bit like a conveyor belt!
I was just wondering if anyone on here had been married in NYC and whether anyone had any suggestions?
Thanks
Sarah

hello sarah may i know what number you called please?
we been waiting our NOA1 its been a month and we don't know if theres a problem in our application thanks in advance
Hi, sure
It's the national customer service centre number 1 (800) 375-5283
But be aware they keep you on hold for a very long time!

We exist on the system!!
Jon finally got through on the phone yesterday and apparently there was a problem with the check. So we have to resubmit payment and they will start to deal with our case. Phew!!!
We have no idea when they were going to tell us there was a problem! I wish we had started calling sooner now.
At least we shouldn't have to wait too long. The guy on the phone said it's only taking about 3 weeks to process right now.
We are sooooooo relieved! Thanks for the advice and good wishes.

Not to make you worry or stress more... but our package was signed for on the 9th Sep at VSC.. official receipt date was after the weekend on the 11th. Date on NOA1 was the 12th Sep. Rcvd paper NOA1 around the 18th Sep. NOA2 approval was 29 Sep. I'm just submitting this cos info cos it matches.
This caseload and fairy dust theory doesnt hold for me. I'd keep hanging on the phone. I'd sure has hell would have been on the phone after 2 weeks knowing for sure they rcvd it in hand.
How did you find out the 1st package was lost in the mail? Did you get ahold of them and there was no record at all of getting it?
I wish you the best of luck and keep us updated.
~Eric~
Yours is one of the cases that made me panic initially
But i am pleased for you.
we are going to keep calling.
as for the first package, it has now finally been returned to my partner so we know they didn't get it!

Patience, I got my NOA1, notification and then the check cleared and it took almost 4 weeks for mine. It all depends on the case load and when your arrived and the fairy dust. If you know they received the package give it another week before calling them. Good luck, Payato
Thanks, that's reassuring. I'm hoping that's the case with us too!

Hi
We have now submitted 2 applications to the VSC (first one got lost in the mail) and are having very bad luck! We know the second one was recieved 11 September but we have not yet had an noa1 and the check hasn't been cashed.
My fiance has been trying to call the national helpline every day this week but he is calling from work and once he's been on hold about 30 minutes he usually has to hang up.
I notice some really fast approvals at the moment so I am getting a bit stressed!!
Any advice on what we should do?
Do you think we may need to resubmit a 3rd application
I think we are cursed!

I just now checked my copy in a panic, but all is well. My PDF fillable form did what it was supposed to do. I'm wondering if there's an issue depending on what browser you're using. Maybe we should do some research about that possibility. At various points I did drafts of the form on Safari, Firefox, Netscape, and IE for Mac--just to see what was working the best for me. I don't think I had a problem with any of them, really.
Anyone else...?
Same here, mine looks fine. I did one in Firefox (mine) and one in Adobe Reader 7.0, both look like they worked as they were meant to.
This post caused me to panic a bit but I have checked the copy of the form I sent out and the X was put in the right place in all of them. I used Netscape browser and Adobe Reader 7.0.

I just notice I can't save information in the G-325A forms, however I could save them in the I-129F form. Is this a bug of some sort or maybe I have the wrong version of Adobe?
No it's not a bug. If I remember correctly you can't save them and it makes this clear on the site. You have to just complete them in one go and print them out straight away.

I am right at the beginning of the process but do you think it would be sensible to apply for a police certificate now to be on the safe side?
And can I double check you only need one for countries lived in for longer than one year? Jon and I met in Germany where I lived for 10 months and I have no idea how to begin obtaining a certificate from another country!!
Sorry I'm being pedantic, I woke up in the middle of the night last night thinking about what we have to do!! I think that might have been a product of too much time spent on this site
I want to make sure we get it all right first time!
Thanks guys.

I'm from Washington, kind of in between Sunderland and Gateshead, and I'm going to live in New York so I think it will be quite a bit different!!
I can't wait til I'm at the stage you guys are at now! Hope everything goes really well!

Even though I'm nowhere near my interview date (we haven't even received NOA1) your description was really helpful and i think i'll print it out and save it for reference nearer the time!
Also nice to hear that someone else from the north east has gone through what I'm about to go through
And I always find KLM cheapest from Newcastle too, although last time I flew they had no personal TV screens and i like the way the make the journey go by faster

Will keep you posted! Good Luck!

Hi
my fiance submitted ours 17th July to Vermont but we've heard nothing yet.
I was starting to worry but people on here reassured us!

I understand that there is a likelihood of being denied entry under the WVP whilst a K1 petition is being processed, if this is the case will the K1 petition be automatically denied at interview and a waiver required?
I am planning on visiting my fiancee for two weeks in September, traveling from the United Kingdom, and we are currently awaiting our NOA2. Unfortunately I would not be able to supply evidence of strong ties to the United Kingdom (I am self employed and currently living with my parents), as such I am obviously concerned that such a denial may have an impact on our case.
Best regards
Andrew
Hi
I am in the same position as you and will be travelling over for 1 week in September while the visa is being processed. I live with my parents at the moment too but I can get a letter off my employer which I hope, along with a return ticket, is ok. I have been in and out of the US 10 times in the last 2 years so I hope they see me as reliable and note that I do actually leave the country!! I'm not so sure what will happen if entry is denied, I'm just crossing my fingers that doesn't happen. I would think it shouldn't affect the application as you are actually allowed to travel to the states while an application is pending.
This is the official advice from the embassy in London that I looked at before booking my ticket:
Can I travel to the United States while my application for an immigrant or fiancé(e) visa is being processed?
If you intend taking up permanent residence in the U.S., you are required to wait until the immigrant or fiancé(e) visa is issued. You cannot reside in the U.S. on a tourist visa or visa free under the Visa Waiver Program while waiting the issuance of an immigrant or fiancé (e) visa. However, if you wish to make a temporary visit at the end of which you will return to your permanent residence outside the United States, you may travel on a tourist (B-2) visa, or visa free under the Visa Waiver Program, if qualified.
If applying for a B-2 visa, you are required to furnish evidence of your residence outside the United States to which you intend returning at the end of your temporary stay. Although a pending immigrant or fiancé(e) visa application is not necessarily conclusive evidence of intent to abandon a U.K. residence, it is a factor considered by consular officers reviewing a visa application. If you are unable to convince the consular officer reviewing the application that you do not intend abandoning your residence, you will not be issued a visa.
When traveling to the U.S. either with a visa or visa free under the Visa Waiver Program, you should be sure to carry with you for presentation to an immigration inspector evidence of your residence outside the U.S. If the immigration inspector is not convinced that you are a bona fide visitor for pleasure, you will be denied entry into the United States.

My fiance submitted our I-129F application on July 17, 2006 to the Vermont Service Center and we have not yet received a NOA1. I notice on some timelines NOA1s are received within about 2 weeks.
Can anyone give me any advice on whether we should have received it by now and if so is there anything we should do?
I submitted my Papers same day as you, I got mine saturday, but my friend who also submitted on the same day has not received his yet, It took my paket 10 days to get transferred to CSC from TSC and then another day before my NOA1 was generated and mailed, sometimes it takes as long as 30 days. Have they cashed your
Check yet?
Thanks for that! That's a relief to know others are still waiting too.

We are about to submit the application for a K1 visa in the next few days. My understanding is that the process will take approx 6 months when the finacee is from the UK. Obviously we want to visit each other in that time. Will it have any effect on the time the application takes or on the application process if I go over to the US for 1 or 2 weeks then return to the UK while the visa application is being dealt with?

Hi Phil
I have just filled mine out and put degree first, then the college i did my A levels at, then my high school for GCSEs. In the degree/diploma section I put "MA", "BA (Hons), "A Levels" and "GCSEs" as those are the qualifications I have. I figure they get different answers from each individual country and as the embassy is in london they should understand what I am talking about!
I am only sending the forms today though so I don't yet know whether those are the answers they want.....
I hope so!
Good luck!
Sarah
