  1. Hey,

I was very suprised to recieve a letter form USCIS yesterday welcoming my fiance to the United States. In the letter they issued an alien number for her and said that she would receive the conditional green card in less than three weeks. Needless to say, I was shocked. My dealings with these people have never been that easy. So why no interview? Our case was sent to the california service center to speed things up, but i had no idea they would eliminate the interview!!! So my next question is can she begin looking for work??? I did fill out a EAD (I-795) do I really need to wait on this if I have the A-number and a letter from the Department of homeland security welcoming her to the United States. Finally, can she visit her family in EL Salvador If she has her conditional green card or must she wait for the permanent ten year card.

    Thanks

    Daniel

  2. My fiance entered the US last month on a k-1 visa. We have already applied for a social security card and should receive that this week. However Im confused about the EAD and the AOS. I believe the AOS is the application for the residence card and the EAD is simple permission to work. But if we apply for the conditional residence card and receive it wouldn't it be pointless and a waste of money to also apply for the EAD??? Please help..

  3. hey all,

I noticed from reading captin ewok above that it sound like I have the option of either filling out form I-765 or applying for a social security number for my fiance. She arrived here in the states on Dec. 14 and she is now legally my wife.

But Im really not sure what to do. Supposedly EAD takes around 90 days but the filing for a ssn should only take about two weeks. Sounds to good to be true. Could someone please enlighten me and tell me the correct path to take.

    Thanks

  4. just looked at my case status online and found this pleasant message...

"On July 10, 2006, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case. The notice explains in detail what additional material is needed. If you have questions about the notice, what is required, or if 30 days have passed and you have not received the notice. Please contact the service center where you submitted your application during business hours."

I dont have any idea why they would need more evidence, I sent them several pictures of me and my fiance the first time and even my airline ticket stub to el salvador where I met my fiance. I cant even think of any other evidence I could send them. And on top of all this the case was already approved by the uscis and the nvc. The case has actually been at the US embassy in el salvador for the past two months and I really do not understand why it is being reverted back to the uscis. Please help me understand.

  5. If you sent your petition after March 6th, and your receipt notice is after March 6th then yes technically you should be affected by IMBRA. I hope you don't get too much farther before it gets recalled. GOod luck,

    Sarah

but why would I get effected by the knew law??? I dont have a criminal history. Ive never even had a speeding ticket.

  6. just learned today about the exsistence of imbra. I filed my I-129f back in the beginning of april. Everything has gone smoothly so far and the case has been sent to the american embassy. I wanted to make sure that IMBRA wasnt going to hinder my progress. I have heard of cases getting recalled, even right before the interview. I have no criminal record, but I was worried that my case could possibly get recalled due to lack of evidence or because maybe I filled out an old I-129f.
