  1. NBC will do one of two things with the AOS, they will send it on to your field office for interview, or send it to CSC for adjudication.

EAD can take 60-90 days or more to process.

You are asking for timelines how about :time:http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=24017

You can use the timelines here on VJ to get a very good estimate of processing times for EAD and AOS.

I'd fill out my timeline, but it wouldn't be fair.. we didn't send our stuff in in a timely manner.... but as for my aos

January 12th sent package to lawyer

    February 15th Biometrics Notice

    February 25th Biometrics Appointment

February 27th Request for RFE on AOS

    March 12th RFE Rec'd

  2. At my Interview at the Vancouver consulate yesterday they asked me what is the longest stay i've had in the US and I said 5 months and 28 days.. they didn't care... so I'd say go for the 6 months... but I counted out the exact days.... 180 days.. don't go by calendar months since you might get nailed for a day with a long month.

We sent our k-3 in march and i've had my interview so it shouldn't be long for you, although I'm pretty sure I had a medical expedite since I'm pregnant.

Thanks for the quick replies. Kathryn, you've basically said what I've been thinking. It's not a huge deal to go back for awhile, my interview shouldn't be too far off anyway. It's been a long wait, we applied in March and just received our NOA2 a couple weeks ago, so we certainly don't want to mess things up. I just thought I'd throw the question out to VJ in case someone had some experience with this, in hopes of avoiding what will probably be a frustrating phone call(and if my experience with USCIS and the 129F process is any indication, it will be frustrating and yield few answers).

john_and_marlene, I have no I-94. When they were passing the I-94 forms out on the flight, I was told by the attendants that as a Canadian I didn't need one, and the immigration officer did not ask for one or give me anything beside the stamp in my passport.

  3. If you're going to the Calgary Consulate and they don't like your photos... there's a photo place downstairs from the consulate. So if they hate them it'll take 10 mins to get new ones. Don't worry... as long as they're passport style i'm sure you'll be fine.

Well i think i have everything ready for us to leave for Calgary on Sunday. One question.

The photo you need for the G325A says passport like photos with the facial image about 1 inch in size. I went and got Canadian Passport photos but our heads are between an inch and an inch and 1/2. Does anyone know how picky they are on the photos? I don't want to get all the way to Calgary (13 hours from here) to find out our photos are wrong and rejected. Anyone know the answer?

  4. Long story short.. I've never been treated so poorly.. I was treated like an inmate!!! I could type for hours about what happened and what was said but it's no use. With the exception of two people working at the consulate (one being the fellow who interviewed me) where completely rude! The sad thing is I had absolutelly everything I needed. The fellow before me didn't have anything he needed and was treated like an angel!!! Anyways... I went back and got my visa and everyone was sooooo wonderful!!!!!:wacko::wacko::wacko: Anyways, I was issued my visa at 2pm after my interview scheduled at 10 am. The entire process took 2.5 hours, then I had to go back and waited 45mins for the visa.

Hate to say it but this really makes me wonder why I'm leaving Canada.... luckily I have a wonderful husband because that's the ONLY reason i'm moving to the US. I really can't wait until we can return to Canada (my husband has an 8 yo down there so he can't move here for another 10 years).

  5. So... I went to Calgary for my medical.. it was creepy to begin with because it's a cosmetic surgery clinic. First they weighed and measured me, then an eye exam. The receptionist who weighed me took me into a room and asked me a bunch of questions about my medical history. Then said the doctor would be right in. The doctor came in introduced himself, asked me a few more medical questions, then told me to completely strip down and put a gown on. He left the room came back... and didn't proceed to tell me anything he was doing... just grabbed my arm for a blood pressure test. Asked me to breath in while he listened to my lungs. Then said lay down.. did the most thorough breast exam in my life said ... you can tell you're pregnant. Then said knees together... knees apart... (i'm looking at him without gloves on) and he said I just have to make sure you're a girl and you don't have warts. Yey! he just looked. After that he was a bit more friendly but not much... definatelly made me feel like a piece of meat!

Then off to get blood work done (thankfully I don't have to have the chest x-ray since i'm pregnant or I would have had to go to 3 different places that day.) Asked the receptionist to courier my results because my interview was a week away. She said not a problem but because you don't live in a major city please call me and make sure it's mailed right away. So I call tuesday, the lab messed up my bloodwork!!!!! They forgot to do the HIV test!!! Never informed the clinic!!!! So here I am in Golden.. without my medical having to leave on thursday to make my appointment in Vancouver!!!!

Anyways... after a very long stressful day the wonderful receptionist got them to test the blood they currently had and I should (knock on wood) have my medical today!!!!!! *Sigh* I hope everyone elses goes much more smoothly!

  6. I faxed my sheet in and I got my interview within one week.. although I applied for an expedite since i'm pregnant. I GO ON FRIDAY!! WISH ME LUCK!! I'm nervous and scared and excited!!!

  7. I know I'll get flamed for this but I have to say it, since I own a coffee roasterie (dealing in wholesale, retail and a coffeehouse).

HOW CAN YOU DRINK TIM HORTONS SLUDGE??????????? IT'S THE MCDONALDS OF COFFEE!!!!!! I CAN'T GO INTO A TIMMY'S WITHOUT FEELING ILL!!! :dead:

Sorry super coffee snob here..... guess it's my business though

    *smirk*

  8. I'm expecting our 2nd CHILD!!! Just found out!!

LADIES ON K-3's!!!!!! YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A MEDICAL EXPIDITE ACCORDING TO MY IMMIGRATION LAWYER.

My paperwork is going in and I should find out how fast my K-3 speeds up. I've been approved and my paperwork has been sent to Vancouver consulate.

As for our first daughter... claiming US citizenship is very easy if you were married before the child was born. It took 4 weeks to get our passport and certificate of US citizen born abroad. We even had some paperwork issues because my husband wasn't there. To make it fast and easy make sure you have all the items they need and both of you there would help but it's not essential.

  9. I'm still in Canada and currently working. I'm still waiting for for my k-3 to enter. I will have enough hours for maternity leave and I'm paying my medical. I'm just lost on why you have to give up everything on a non-immigrant visa. So that means I'm a resident of no where? Also, maternity you are not expected to work.. you don't even fill out forms. You apply then you recieve your benefits for one year. Any more info would be great since the 1800 numbers are pretty useless at times. Thanks

  10. Hello,

Does anyone know if you have to give up your Health Insurance in Canada while on a K-3? It's a non-immigrant visa so that would mean i'm still a resident of Canada, correct? Also, I'm expecting so will I be able to collect EI Maternity while on a K-3? Information is much appreciated!!!
