Hi all,

My wife's letter with her ceremony date says the oath ceremony takes about 3 hours. Is this really the case, or is it typically shorter than this? She is in Boston, so I don't know if that makes any difference, or if they all last the same amount of time.

Well, the interview was a piece of cake. Wife passed. In and out in like 15 mins. However, we won't be in town the week they scheduled the interview. Have to reschedule, which of course, they couldn't just do right then and there since this is the USCIS we're talking about. So right now we have no clue when the oath will be! :-) Oh well.

Does anybody know anything about setting up a private ceremony? I remember reading a post about somebody doing it, and it was in Boston (where we are).

Ha! I will be sure to tell her. She's a proper Newport girl actually, if that means anything to ya :-). I just got an email today that said "Your case has been transferred to a local office and an interview will be scheduled...blah blah", so not too worried about the yellow letter now.

Yeah, but what information was missing? It doesn't say anywhere in the N-400 documentation that we needed to send a copy of her driver's license.

My wife got a strange yellow letter in the mail yesterday. I didn't get to see it because I'm on travel, but paraphrasing it said something like "This is not an interview date, but please bring your state issued photo id to your interview". So basically they sent a yellow letter to tell her that it wasn't an interview letter, but that she should bring her driver's license to her interview. What the hell is this thing?

FOR ANYBODY AT THE BOSTON FIELD OFFICE:

So my wife did her fingerprints at the Boston office yesterday. It was a total cluster F. Her "appointment" was at 10am, but she didn't actually get her biometrics done until almost 12pm. At the Boston office, anybody who is a biometrics only appointment gets lowest priority to everybody else. I.e. If somebody had an interview + biometrics type of appointment at 11am, they would do their interview, then get shoved to the front of the biometrics queue ahead of anybody else who may have been waiting since before 11am. My wife said there was a constant flow of people getting pushed ahead of her because they had interviews instead of just biometrics.

Moral of the story: If you are at the Boston field office for biometrics, clear your schedule.

I'm getting ready to send in our application soon as well, as 4/1 is our third year mark!

Quick question for those who filed already- for the three years of tax transcripts, did you send in 2007-2009?

I was a bit concerned that I should do my 2010 taxes before I file the N-400, which would delay everything significantly.

I also sent in 2007-2009 and had the same concern. Hopefully they are smart enough to realize why we didn't send 2010.

We were just informed we are at the "Initial Review" stage of the process.

It says: "On January 7, 2011, we received this N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

Is this considered NOA1?

Also, in an email they said: "Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the National Benefits Center for processing....". Why is it being routed to the NBC? Is this the usual case for N400 apps?

As far as i know the answer is "NO"; if you noticed at the back of the usps money order receipt it says if it is stolen or something after 60 days you can file a form , etc.. Just wanted to know how long did you send the package/money order?

Oh I'm not worried it's gone missing. The USCIS only received my package yesterday. I was just wondering how I would know when the check was cashed. Stupid me forgot to use a personal check. I've been out of the immigration loop for like 4 years now.

This is why it is recommended to use a personal check.

Pardon me if this has been answered a million times before, but I couldn't find anything when I searched. Is there a way to find out if your USPS money order has been cashed without paying money and filling out one of those trace forms at the Post Office?

Hi all,

I've been reading that a U.S. spouse can file for citizenship 3 years from the date on the I-551. I was under the impression that it was 90 days before the 3 year anniversary, similar to the I-751 (lifting conditions) requirement. Am I wrong about that?

Received 10 year GC in the mail yesterday for VSC NOA of 1/5/07

Oh, another point of note, we sent the absolute bare minimum required documentation with our petition in case anybody is sweating not sending enough.

Received letter yesterday 7/23 saying they put in the production order for the 10 year GC. You're not far now (HOPEFULLY!).

Just in case anybody is interested, we received our letter yesterday 7/23 saying that the 10 year GC was being produced. We had a receipt date notice of 1/5/07 at the VSC.

Did you ask for that information, or did they email it to you automatically?
