  1. My now wife and I have been married since December 31st, on a fiancé visa. The 90 days was over this past February 19th. We filed for an adjustment of status but the paper work was returned because information was missing.

How long do we have before we must perform another action? She is not working and does not have a plan to do so at this point. Are there any forms that must be signed and filed at this point and if not, how long do we have before we must file additional forms?

Thanks for any information you may be able to provide.

  2. When my then fiancé (k1) arrived here in Philadelphia she (from Dominican Republic) had a package of information that we thought, was supposed to be collected by the immigration agent. It included all of the bio-metrics information as well as her medical information. It was in a sealed package that we were told not to open so we are really not sure what it contained.

The immigration agent did not take the package so when we completed the form 485 and 765 documents, we included the package in the mailer to the USCIS office, registered and return receipt.

    Two questions:

    1. is this normal or did the immigration officer make a mistake by not taking the package of information?

    2. She did her biometrics work while in the Dominican Republic we presume that all of that information was in the package that we mailed to the USICS office. Will she have to go through the process again for the biometrics, considering point 1 above was ok and that everything will be received in good order by the office?

  3. My finance - now wife, applied for a social security card today. She was listed as being eligible to work. What does this mean? We want to apply for the I-765 but I have been reading that it only authorizes word during the 90 days and after the 90 days she would not be allowed to work. We will be applying for the I-485 in February but that will be after the 90 days elapses and from my understanding, that can be a long process.

Any suggestions? She would like to work as quickly as possible. Should she apply for the I-765 or at this point should we just wait and file the I-485?

    Thanks

  4. Congratulations on your impending marriage this month. Have yo entered into the USA yet? Would love to learn more about your story. I met my fiancé on line as well and she finally received her visa for the K1, this past September. She is scheduled to arrive in the USA on November 17.

With all of the couples I have been seeing on visajourney, I decided to do an article on the subject of international dating. Would love to learn more about you, your history, how you both met and managed the distance relationship. Thank you and again, congratulations on your new future. Tye
