  1. Hi VisaJourney Members,

My fiance was just approved for his K1 visa. We plan to move to the U.S. by July (within six months), however we would like to first travel there in April for a family event. My fiance was not approved for a tourist visa when he applied last year, but we were thinking he has a greater chance to be approved now that he's legally allowed to enter the U.S. on the K1. Does anyone have any thoughts, experience or advice about this?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Visa Journey Community,

It was just confirmed yesterday that our case has been sent from the NVC to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico. Yay! I will start calling in 5-7 business days to make sure it has been received. My question is: at that time, will I be able to request a change in address for where we would like the third package (checklist, forms, etc.) to be sent? My fiance has changed addresses since the time we sent out the petition back in July. Thank you in advance for any useful information you can provide regarding this topic.

  3. Hi VisaJourney Community,

I am writing to ask about how long my fiance realistically can expect to wait before he is allowed to legally work in the U.S. We plan to be married in February or March of 2017 on a K-1 visa. I realize that the time has to do with how long it takes us to fill out the paper work and submit it, but I've heard that it can take anywhere from 5 months to up to 4 years and I just want to know what we should expect. Any information (links, advice, personal experiences) you could provide would be helpful.

    Thank you,

    Andrea

  4. Hi Visa Journey Community,

My parent(s) will be providing an Affidavit of Support for my fiance. We are currently waiting to receive the 2nd NOA for the K-1, but I'm trying to prepare things ahead of time. Could someone please share with me what forms my fiance will need from my parents besides the actual Affidavit form? (Bank statements, etc.?)

    Thank you!

  5. Hi, I have a question regarding the fiancé K-1 visa. My fiancé and I are about to send out the I-129 Petition and I was looking at the Process Flowchart. I see that after the case is received by the Embassy from NVC, they mail out forms and checklists to the beneficiary (my fiancé). My fiancé lives in Mexico and the mail service isn´t very good and I'm afraid the package won't arrive to his home address. Is there a way we can request that the forms be sent to his job rather than his home? Any advice you could share would be appreciated :) Thank you.

  6. Hi Visa Community,

I am Andrea and my fiancé, Victor, and I have completed all the forms to mail out in order to start the process for the K-1 financé visa. Víctor is from Mexico. He applied and was rejected for the tourist visa twice and we don't know why. He has a great job, ties to Mexico, rents a home and owns a car... We decided that instead of waiting another six-months to a year for him to apply again, we should go ahead and spend our time working towards the fiancé visa since our objective is to live in the U.S. in the near future.

It's nice to know there is a community of people going through similar processes. This website was recommended by a friend and seems to be a great resource. I'm excited and anxious to get started, but it helps to know there are people here to help :)
