Thank you for your response. The expiration date on the police report states 3 months validity, does this not apply?

The US Consulate in Lagos give the police report a 1 year validity . So you are okay. The same thing(3 month validity). was written in my police report as well in May last year and it was still accepted by the consulate this year.

Thanks for your contribution, however the US Condulate in Nigeria's website also states the below in addition to your above-stated; (i'm quoting exactly as is onthe website.

''Alternate Documents: For people born prior to 1979 or in some cases prior to 1988, a birth certificate issued by a Local Government Authority or a hospital or a baptismal certificate is acceptable. There is also the National Population Commission Attestation of Birth Certificate issued to people whose birth occurred before 1979 when the National Population Commission issued birth certificate was first introduced as a pilot program. Any of these is acceptable.

So Local government issued BCs are also acceptable as stated above.

You are correct. My husband submitted a local government issued BC and it was accepted by the NVC. I submitted a Lagos state ministry of Health Certified BC and it was also accepted.

At OP, call them again to seek clarification. If they do insist however, then do get the NPC attestation alongside sworn affidavit of either of your parents or a relative who witnessed your birth.

    Goodluck.

My case EB3 was USCIS approved by August 2016 ending, sent to NVC 3rd of Sept. Paid fees and filled DS260 by 1st week of October. First week of Dec, I got a checklist from NVC saying they didn't get our police clearance, my employer confirmed it was sent but NVC lost it... How true?

I submitted another one and NVC confirmed receipt in the 28th of December. 2016...to give them 6weeks which brings me down to 8th of Feb. 2017. I am yet to hear from NVC and I am freaking out because the so called police clearance expired yesterday  6th of march as per 3months validity for Nigeria police certificate.

Now,i call NVC almost everyday and they say it has been sent to  the supervisor for review having passed the 6weeks time frame,i was meant to understand that it is now 8weeks for document review starting from Feb. 2017.

I called last week twice in one day, requesting to speak with a supervisor about my case, the first person said my case hasn't been sent to the supervisor that I have to exhaust the new 8weeks time frame. She was impatient and I could tell she didn't have anything tangible to say to me so I dropped and called back a second time of which a much nicer person answered and said your case has been sent to the supervisor on the 14th of Feb. Allow up-to 6weeks for review and no, we did not start the 8weeks time frame with you since your case was received before the law changed.

Does this mean the 6weeks cycle was restarted again for me since it was sent to the supervisor ?

I called yesterday again and was told the supervisor has successfully moved it to the document review department, it's still within the 6weeks time frame, to keep an eye on my mail. Whew!!! What is document review dept. and how long will this take ?

What does this whole thing mean, I'm running out of patience, waiting is a beast.

For the visa purpose your police certificate is valid for one year so you are good.

As per NVC they are seriously bacKlogged so all you can do at this time is keep calling them to find out the status of your case, keep being hopefull and keep yourself preoccupied with other things to take your mind of the negativity of the delay.

    Cheers!

I track my case being sent to Nigeria consulate now through NVC website and it says Ready, pls anybody with idea about the next thing to be done?

Your status showing ready at this time means your file has gotten to the Nigerian consulate.

You just have to start preparing your documents for the interview, decide on which of the two approved clininics you want to go to ( Q-life or The childrens practice). Medical reports from the clinics are usually ready 2 weeks after your medical exams.

You ahould also visit Nigerian portal on this website. Its full of a lot of information you need.

    Goodluck

    Hello

I have an interview booked at the US consulate in Sydney next month. I have to take a platinum 3kg prepaid envelope so they can send my visa packet in the mail.

Once received I can fly out!

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to send the packet in the mail?

Some places say 10 days and others say longer.

    Thanks

You should receive your packet in the mail within 10 business days. Holidays tend to increase the wait time though.

Like always advised, better not to pay for flight tickets until you receive your packet.

    Cheers!!

    Thanks.

They had a 10 inch tall pack for me from the NVC.

At the first window they collected the original copies of the documents I was told to bring, Police Clearances for 4 countries, SA army record, marriage certs, divorce decrees, etc., then a short wait for the interview at the next window.

He asked to see my previous L-1A in my old passport, he just took a quick look at that, then asked the name of my  new US employer, and then announced our (my wife and I) approval.

Now waiting for the DHL tracking so that I can book the earliest flights out.

    Thank you.

Feels like it was a breeze.

Please fill in your profile detail and timeline.

    Congratulations on your approval.

Please could you share questions asked? I have EB interview coming up soon to.

    Thanks.

    Hi ,

We were appro. ved , below is my experience for EB consular processing.

We were up and early at the Mumbai Consulate General Bandra Kurla Complex(BKC) on a balmy 30th December 2016. Ushered in quickly through to the immigrant visa section. The number of people were much less than I had expected. The Non-immigrant sections was flooding in with hundreds of people even as the immigrant section was seeing only around 20 people at most and almost all appeared family immigrants. I saw newly married wives convincing the consular officers in what appeared like a newly put on American accent on how much they knew their husband and how much they loved them. ?  ?  ?  Then there were also many elderly couples and large families who were looking to immigrate.

We were issued tokens by the greeters and our first stop was an Indian consular officer who brought our NVC file out of the cabinet. He returned some unnecessary filed paperwork(remember Name spelling and Priority date change paperwork??) from my file back to us. He asked us for my originals and quickly returned them after verification. He then tore open the teal colored medical envelope/s, looked at reports and placed them in the file. The X-ray CD's were not required and hence I left them at home.Consulates do not allow CD's anyways. He retained the original police clearance , and the original copy of the new one month validity employment letter and put it in the file and asked us to go back to the waiting area.We waited and watched as all members of some families were grilled one by one for over 25+ minutes by consular officers in the adjacent windows.

Around 15 minutes later our number flashed in the interview booth and the interviewer was a beautiful young American lady. She quickly looked at my file first and asked the below questions.

    1. Who is calling you ?
    2. What do you do now and where ?
    3. Tell me about your previous US trips ?
    4. Where do you intend to land in the US ?

My interview was done in 4-5 minutes of which most of it was her looking through the file and typing. She also mechanically validated the dates of the employment letter(1 month) and police clearance (1 year) and circled them off in ink.

She closed my file and then opened my wife's file. My wife too had US travels from her organization which were independent of mine. She was asked the below questions.

    1. How did you meet your husband ?
    2. When did you get married ?
    3. How many people came to your marriage ?
    4. What do you do in India ?
    5. What business did you have when you traveled to US ?

She was looking at the monitor and was mechanically entering stuff while asking questions. She then looked at me and gave me a small piece of paper asking me to sign it . It stated in a few lines of text that I promised to work for the employer who sponsored my visa. She then said "Sir, your visas are approved, have a nice day" while giving me the below paper. Process took 10 minutes at most. Very light questioning when compared to grilling that family and marriage immigrants were receiving.

    Lol ...

Thank you so much....very insightful, detailed and delightful to read..

    Thank you once again.
