  1. We had our interview yesterday....man that was TOO EASY!! We were approved!! My wife got a I-551 stamp on her passport and the lady said she would get her green card in 2 weeks!
Wow! That was fast! What's your secret? lol

Thanks all for the congratulations. I have no secret, other than I did everything they asked for in the checklist, and the information from this website. I did include a cover letter and a description of each form and item from the checklist. Maybe that made it easier for them to process? It took me hours and hours to get the packet perfected to where if I were the immigration officer I would have no questions about my application. Maybe I'm just lucky as well. Good luck to everyone, I see lots of approvals coming. THanks

  2. BamBam how did your interview go?

We had our interview yesterday....man that was TOO EASY!! We were approved!! My wife got a I-551 stamp on her passport and the lady said she would get her green card in 2 weeks! Afterwards we rushed to Social Security, showed the stamp and applied for SS. They said she would get it in 3-4 weeks.

The lady basically wanted to confirm with my wife if she knew her address, phone number and get this her parents names. LOL. She asked questions from the I-485 form I believe. We brought a bunch of pictures to the room and she asked, "what's that?" We said "pictures", and she looked surprised like it was something new to bring pictures to an interview. She then said "ok let's see them" as if she wasn't expecting to see pictures. We showed her pics of our civil wedding, pics of our travels to Reno, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, pics with my family and friends, etc. She then said ok I'm going to put this stamp on her passport so you can go to SS and show them this to get her a SSN. It was over in 10 minutes.

So I guess I can forget about AP, EAD, since the I-551 stamp is employment authorization and can be used as a temporary green card until she gets hers in the mail. Right? Yesterday was a great day. Thanks VJ and everyone, this place is great!!!

  3. ya, AOS is completely seperate from getting your SSN

I got mine before we got married!

    see signature

I forgot to mention that we were late in submitting our AOS and her I-94 had expired. We didn't go to SS office until after her I-94 expired and she was at that time out-of-status. The SS person told us to go to immigration and file for AOS, and after reading all these topics, I have learned that we need EAD for her to get SS.

  4. Hi all,

I filed for my wife's AOS on February 23 and recieved all NOA's about a week later. My wife's biometrics was completed on March 19 and on Monday, March 31st, I recieved a letter for my wife's interview for her green card. The interview date is April 17. My I-485 case does not appear online, but my others, I-765, I-131 do appear saying that a notice was sent out on February 29, (NOA's).

Has anyone else gotten an interview date? I really need her EAD badly so I can get her a SSN# to file my taxes, but I'll probably have to file for an tax extension for that now that the deadline is coming up. Can I get a SSN# with a green card approval at our interview? Or do I still have to wait for EAD to show up? Thanks.

  5. Hey all VJers,

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had experiences with the Buenos Aires Embassy. I've PM a few people on here for their help and guidance. Thanks! But I am just tired of waiting for them to give us an interview date. We completed and submitted our Packet 3 at the beginning of the month and we have heard nothing since. Not even an acknowledgement that they recieved it. I sent them an email last Monday and this is the BS I got.

Of course the 4-5 business days have passed and nothing. The mail says not to repley until they respond to me, whatever. I called the embassy yesterday and the guy said to send another email, becuase they can't answer those questions over the phone. So I sent them another email today, same automatic response. I swear I'm just going to send an email each day until I hear a response. Anyone have similar experiences or advice? Thanks!

  6. I'm in the same boat as we met on an online site as well. So I called CSC and asked them and the lady told me to include a separate sheet of paper saying I'm not sure if the site we met was marriage broker site and to include the name of the site and address. She also mentioned to answer questions 2 and 3 from the RFE on a separate sheet of paper. Kind of weird she told me that, I guess they don't want you to leave those questions blank. Finally, make sure you sign and date the separate sheet of paper. I would try calling your service centers for more clarification.

  7. Thanks everyone. I will have to get a better understanding of the K-1 flowchart. I'm going to send my RFE back tomorrow, I just hope I don't miss any deadlines while I'm gone on vacation.

grismar - I see your fiancee is also from Argentina, and no we haven't asked for packet 3, I don't know what that is.

So the Biometrics stuff is after NOA2, I first have to get that first then go from there. In the meantime I will look at the forms to prepare for after NOA2 arrives. Thanks so much for your help! Its frustrating to have to wait like everyone else, but I always stay positive and tell my fiancee the same. She is so worried we won't get approved, but I have nothing to hide from the Embassy or immigration, no crimal record, nothing so I know we will be just fine. It just takes time.

  8. Hi all, I somehow stumbled across this site and found so much useful information. I'm in the proccess of getting my fiancee to US as well. She is from Argentina and I just received the RFE from CSC. My question is, after sending the RFE back is the next step for me to get the NOA2? Do I have to send more things in the NOA2? or is that information proccessed to the NVC? The reason I'm asking is because I plan to be with my fiancee for most of the month of August and I don't want to have to worry about timelines and sending things back for review while I'm visiting her. Also what is the Biometrics stuff? Is that for me or for her? Does that come after the NOA2? Thanks for everyones help, I will get my timeline included as soon as I can. Good luck to you all!
