  1. By the looks of things ur a CR-1 (or ir-1) thus no EAD stamp, you do not need 1, as u can work right away. The benefits of a cr-1/ir-1. At POE they wil take the brown enevlope from you, maybe ask a few basic questions, fingerprint you, and maybe take ur pic!! Its pretty harmless. As well they wil put a normal stamp of entry stamp on your passport. If you are eentering with a u-haul truck with ur possesions, they may or may not search it. I had a very basic inventory list . I crossed in Maine and was super easy, and took around 30 minutes.

Thanks for your fast reply. Will appreciate it.

  2. Hey guys,

Hope everyone is doing great with their visa journey.

    Quick question:

I am just wondering if you enter with IR1 visa from Buffalo Peace Bridge what do they do in your passport?

Any kind of stamping? I was reading somewhere that someone got denied for EAD stamp, i dont know if it was for K1-K3 or CR1/IR1.

What kind of stamping they do in IR1 visa passport? Do they take any other documents beside from that brown envelope?

I am planning to enter very soon. Anything to keep in mind. Suggestion and advise will be great.

    Thanks,

    K

  4. Hi Everyone,

Good luck on your immigration journeys. What an interesting message thread, indeed! Lol...I can say that my vote would be, based on the following reasons listed below:

"The best country is.....The USA!!!" (And yes, I am looking forward to USA Citizenship)

    Best about the USA

+Moist important of all (to me): My husband and family are here

+The friendlier attitudes that Americans have (from my experience anyways)

+Lower taxes and standard of living costs

+American patriotism. “The American Melting Pot” concept where we are all “Americans”, regardless of where we came from. One can say, “I am proud to be an American”, and there wouldn’t be any objection.

+The American Flag (Stars and Stripes Forever!) and The American Anthem

+Beautiful American scenery (Ahhh…I can see the natural wonders around me….)

+Beautiful lake effect countryside snow in the winter (that’s just a regional/area thing though)

+The greater selection for food and other products

+Convenient Drive-Thrus: Fast food, Banking, Pharmacy, all in the comfort of being inside a car

+Abundant amount of Government programs to help the poor and disadvantaged in society

+Paper dollar bills (sure is better than carrying all those loonies and twoonies around)

+USPS Postal Service: Delivery on Saturdays, The red flags on the mailboxes for the postal workers to pick up the mail for you (saves on unnecessary trips to the post office), Less expensive postage, Nicer postal workers (come rain, snow, shine, or sleet....)

On the other hand, I have lived in Canada before (heck, I grew up there for most of my life and have citizenship there), so I can say that I am ok about Canada too (although, to be honest with you, I wouldn't want to live there anymore), based on the following reasons listed below:

    Worst about Canada

-Higher Taxes (15% is definitely too high!)

-Waiting for free healthcare (The words “sorry we are not accepting new patients”, and waiting for what seems like forever for treatment are quite familiar to many)

-Lack of patriotism. I mean, who really says “I am Canadian”, and people believe it? Too many immigrants (ironically, I was/am an immigrant too) and the assumption that one has to stick to their own culture group, other than being Canadian. For goodness sakes people, it’s Canada, not (insert name of other country here)!

-Heavy loonies and twoonies (I’ve broken a few wallets carrying those heavy things around. Why did they ever get rid of the dollar and two dollar bills?)

-Ugly city snow (that’s just a regional/area thing though)

Ant (Living the best and worst in both American and Canadian worlds…)

GREAT RESPONSE ...... APPRECIATE THIS.... :)

So please.. if anyone has had or knows about the questions they ask at the interview.. it would be of great help!!!

    Hi There,

Good luck to your wife for the interview.

I had an IR1 interview in October in Canada. Basically they asked me few formal questions. Like how do we met? what is she doing? what am i doing? about the co-sonser? how do we know him? He asked me whether i traveled to US before and as i did he asked me where and i explained him. He asked me some question from my wife's tax return. and thats about it.

it was so fast i cant even imagine. dont worry everything will be fine.

hope this will help you a bit.

    Thanks.

  7. Hello All,

Quick question may be someone knows here or may be any idea.

Situation here : If you enter in to USA from Canada on IR1 visa while you are a resident of canada. Do you think that US immigration authority report it to Canadian immigration authority?

As per as i believe they dont care. But just want to know from you guys may be some one know more in details.

    Will appreciate your reply.

    Thanks,

  10. Thanks for your immidiate reply,

my situation is little bit different here. I am not a canadian citizen, still 14 months to go to become canadian. If i will go to states i have to cancel either one. As per us rule i have to stay in there for 6 months 1 day to maintain my residency. And physically its next to impossible to maintain residency in both the countries.

I dont wanna surrender my canadian residency so i was just thinking about it. I havent decided yet but i need some advise on this.

    Thanks,

Why would you want to do that? the visa is a multi entry one good for 5 years.

    Please explain more.

If your are Canadian you can travel to the US either way.

  11. Hello Guys,

Hope someone gives us an advise on this situation. Let me explain it to you first.

My Mother-in-law, who is paralized (had Stroke) and she forget almost everything. My wife applied for her citizenship first by herself, they filled out the form and everything and at the time of interview, Officer said they need spcial code from doctors. Now the thing is my wife went to my MIL's doctor prior to the interview and filled out the medical form by doctor, Even doctor doesn't know the code. My wife called citizenship dept and no reply from there side.

Again my wife applied through Attorney she charged around 700 USD. Did the same thing again. This time attorney went with my MIL and the same reson for rejection that you need a special code from the doctor. Even the attorney didnt do anything. Officer told them that now either they can appeal or reapply. They said they will mail some papers and now it almost 6-7 months my wife didnt receive single paper from them.

Now question is What the hack is that code? Anybody knows any doctor in Dallas area who can help us out?

Your help will be greatly appreciable.

    Thanks,

    K
