I find this more than a little concerning since I will also be entering on an expired petition next week.
-
Yeah...definitely not opening that sucker I heard of one guy on these forums who thought his passport was mistakenly in the envelope, opened it in a panic then realised it had just slipped to the bottom of the outer envelope.
Thanks for the answer. I'm just in that hyper-neurotic state where any deviation from the established norm has me breaking out in panic.
So...not that much different from a normal day for me ;3

Hey guys. Well, my passport arrived this morning with my visa I was just a little surprised that rather than the brown envelope I was expecting from comments made on this site, I received a VERY large white envelope with instructions printed in bold on the front saying not to open it.
Is this just a change to the way they do things now?

Ah. Sorry A'n'L had furnished me with a good answer to my previous question but wanted to re-reconfirm now that I know the visa has been issued.

Hi guys. Well, my status on CEAC website just updated to ISSUED (yippee ?) but I have a question.
My petition expired on the 26th but my interview was scheduled for and took place on the 23rd. I assume my visa was issued TODAY, the 27th.
Is this a problem? As I understand, you must schedule the interview before the petition expires and send a letter of intent to marry only if the INTERVIEW occurs after this date.
Thanks again

Once again, thanks for the quick answers. You're a star.

So, just to clarify, as long as the interview at the US embassy and visa approval occurred BEFORE the K1 petition expiration date it's no problem if the K1 petition expires while they are processing the visa over those 5 days?

Thanks again A'n'L. Even after the interview and approval I'm still worrying over all the details
-
Oh. I was convinced that having a visa with an issue date AFTER the K1 petition expiration was a problem.
Thanks, A 'n' L
Though, I'm still confused as to whether the issue date on the visa is the date it's placed into your passport or the date on which the medical took place.

HI everyone. I just had my interview in London yesterday and was thankfully approved for a k1 fiancée visa. YAY!
But I do have one question.
My petition expires on the 26th and my interview was yesterday which was the 23rd. With visa processing taking 5 days will this be an issue? Meaning, if my Visa has an issue date after the 26th but annotation on the visa says the petition expired before the issuing date.
The explanatory letter that come with my approved K1 petition says to only submit a letter of intent to marry to revalidate the petition if the interview will occur AFTER the petition expiration date.
Thank you
Alex

Uh... I just assumed it is. I had my interview 2 days before it expires but no mention was made of extending it. My visa was issued on the 27th and it expired on the 25th.
Since they only ask you to revalidate it if your interview occurs after the expiry date there was no need to.
