Finally arrived in the USA yesterday after 136 days from posting the I-130! This website was such a help... one final question though. As part of the DS-230 you select Yes to receiving your Social Security Number... has anyone got experience of how long this takes to come to you? And did you wait before applying for jobs before it came? I seem to remember reading somewhere it comes within a fortnight?

I've had a look through other I-864 posts but hoping to get some clarity... got the interview this Friday so want to be sure. Have all documentation ready but the following I-864 questions:

1- Do you need a photocopy of the I-864 form and any associated documents?

2- My husband did not file a tax for 2013 and 2014 and we have the documentation to show why this was. However as they only ask for the last years tax return, will they ask to see this?

3- For the last years tax return, I have his '1040 U.S Individual Income Tax Return'- is this what is required with the I-864? On top of this I also have a 2555-EZ- Foreign Earned Income Exclusion form.

I had my initial appointment on the 24th August, and managed to pull it back to the 19th August. I was checking regularly as well but I think once you get to 3/4 weeks out from the date you have, you should start settling that this is the date.

Do you get any kind of receipt showing you paid the NVC for the visa fee? Not sure how the spouse process works and surely that is in your file, but was just thinking K1s have to show they paid.

Do you have a letter stating your interview date? It might get you squared away faster in line.

"Oh yes. I have the print out of the confirmation of my visa application as that was done online, which includes fee payments. Plus I printed the letter/email from the NVC confirming my interview date."

What is this around the visa fee? There has been nothing stating about paying for this before the interview. We paid the $420 when the petition was lodged but nothing since. It says you pay the visa fee at the Embassy...

Agreed with Killary our RFE only added 9 days and we then received our LDN number.

2nd May is quite a jump, but glad it's where it is.

​The NOA2 comes in the stamp address envelope you provided. I don't know how soon to expect this though! The NOA2 doesn't give us anything as far as I am aware but only tells us it is approved. So even if you didn't include a SAE I don't think it is critical.

The next thing is to wait for the next packet which has the LDN number and that's when the medical can be booked. Again, I don't know timescales between these. Maybe someone else might who is further in the process or recently completed?

I think we are pretty organised with all the documents for the next stage, the I-186 is complete, I hope. Certain questions are very sketchy in it

I am almost on the same timescale as you... I-130 reciept date was the 20th April so hoping this Friday it shows we are getting processed.

I feel your pain, the uncertainty around the timescales through this is a killer!

Hi all,

First time posting after finally joining after much lurking and scouring for help as we kicked off our visa journey.

Just following on from the posts above around required vaccinations, I ave been struggling to get some of these. Specifically: Pneumococcal; Pertussis (Ive had TDP and just trying to get clarity if it is safe to get the TDaP) and Rotovirus. GP won't/can't prescribe them and having to go to a private clinic. Even MMR which I never had as a kid, I need to go private. Anyone had similar experiences?

In regards to Influenza, if you are having the medical outwith Oct-Mar does it get waived liked Varicella or will they insist on giving it you at Knightsbridge?
