  1. We will be just a few days behind you. Her interview is scheduled for the 17th. She is going for the medical exam on the 12th. We had thought about trying to do the medical earlier, to get the lower price, but a second plane trip to Manila would not would have cost about the same.

I was in Cebu at the beginning of Sept. so we were able to book the manila flights while I was there. $71 round trip for each trip. Not too bad. I just didn't want make the schedule too tight in case of problems. Everything has been going good in the process and I have been playing it by the book. Don't want to change up now. haha!

  2. we are on the same path it seems, physicals and interview same time, you booked tickets here yet?

Not yet. Seriously considering it, but all those warnings about booking early sitting in the back of my head. I am going to fly her to Chicago and pick her up there. We will have the 3.5 hour drive to talk and plan. EVA air starts going to Chicago Nov. 1. ORD is not on their website as a destination yet and Kayak goes to error. Still considering it. How about you?

  3. costs are relative, the cost in the Philippines is more than her monthly salary and a comparable physical from a local doctor is roughly $15 plus the cost of needed vaccines, by having these exclusive contracts they artificially inflate the costs of the embassy required medical is 1500% of what's available on the economy.

Notice just went out. Beginning oct.1 price of physical in Philippines is going up to 16,042.50 php from 11,300 php. My fiance is also going on the 29th. So it looks like we both are getting in just under the wire.

  4. We received an email from NVC with our MNL. I would like to ask if it is possible to have a medical Monday and schedule for interview by Friday? I am aware that we need to schedule interview atleast 1-2 weeks apart from our medical. The reason we have a short time gap because of the following: He lives in Cebu City, have no relatives to stay in Manila, Hotels & airfare are expenssive, and cannot take day off from work for more than a week.

Your input will be very much appreciated. Thank You

Since they give you your physical results to take with you you can probably get away with it. If there's any kind of issue at all with the physical or with the paperwork then he will have to return and you might not make your appointment. If that is the case then you will have to reschedule and make another trip to Manila anyway. I don't know what you consider expensive but a round trip ticket on Cebu Airlines can be gotten for less than 3200 pesos. And the night in a hotel can easily be under 40 to $50. I wish you luck in your journey but I have to be curious because these costs and the scheduling are not a surprise.

  5. Reading this link. https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/law-and-policy/statistics/non-immigrant-visas.html You can find out how many K1 visa's your country goes through each year. The USCIS get through around 30,000 a year. Ireland only accounts for 137 of them. The Philippines accounts for 20% of the whole amount of K1's if it keeps going the way it is there will be nobody left in the Philippines only tourists left. Huge amount of outward migration from the Philippines, it reminds me over Ireland in the 60s and 70's.

Here in the Philippines now and trust me, 6,000 a year will not make a dent in the population. One of the largest exports of the Philippines is their people. They have many overseas workers all over Asia, Middle East and Canada. The money they send back to support their families is a vital part of the Philippine economy. We don't know that much about it in the US because our Government makes it very difficult for a Filipino to even visit as a tourist. Most who leave do so for love, but they love their country and many return with their foreign husbands later to enjoy the life, weather, people and cost of living. Don't forget, their are also thousands of US citizens living in Phil.
