  1. Hi guys, sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I am pressed for time. I am an Australian looking to relocate to the US to be with my partner/fiancee.

On looking at the USCIS website, the points raised that need to be met before petitioning for a K-1 fiance(e) visa are:

    • You (the petitioner) are a U.S. citizen. (TICK - my partner/fiancee is a U.S. citizen)
    • You intend to marry within 90 days of your fiancé(e) entering the United States. (TICK - we definitely do!)
    • You and your fiancé(e) are both free to marry and any previous marriages must have been legally terminated by divorce, death, or annulment. (TICK - we are both divorced and free to marry)
    • You met each other, in person, at least once within 2 years of filing your petition. (CROSS - we haven't yet met)

I am flying to the US in October to meet Crystal for the first time. We are going to make sure we have plenty of evidence of us meeting and spending time together, as I know this is required for the K-1 visa. However I was told by a cousin, who has a friend whose husband is also Australian and who went through the process for a K-1 visa, and they were told they needed more than one visit/meeting before they could petition.

Just wanting to know if this is true? As the USCIS page clearly states "at least once", so sounds to me as though just one visit/meeting is all that is required?

Hoping there's someone out there who can shed some further light on this for us? Many thanks in advance!!

    Michael.
