  1. I just had my appointment with the civil surgeon and they didn't asked me about the use of illegal drugs. They just asked me if I was on prescription drugs, why and for how long.

No matter what be honest with everybody that is involved with you immigration case. It will be much worse if they discovered that you lie to them. The use pf marijuana is being more and more tolerate in this days and I don't think this would be an issue at the time they will consider to approve or not your request of adjustment.

Try to be clean for a while before you do the blood analysis.

Everyone seems to have such different experiences! May I ask in what state/country you had your exam?

  2. I entered the US on an F1 visa, which has since expired. During that time I met and married a US citizen, and we are collecting our documents for submission for a green card. I have started to read about the civil surgeon requirements and have some (panicked) questions, as I have been smoking cannabis to manage my anxiety. Although I live in MA, I do not have an MMJ card.

So, with regards to the medical exam. Obviously I need to stop smoking for some time before my appointment. From the threads I've examined so far, it appears not all doctors explicitly ask about drug use and drug test, but I think it's important to err on the side of caution. However, I understand if there is a question about previous drug use, an admission of use at any time in the past can render your application denied. I am concerned about how to answer this when I go to my appointment, as my previous medical records from other doctors will show some cannabis use. Does the doctor get a copy of recent medical records from your primary care physician or just the information you provide? I do not want to lie, but I also would like to not be deported for a year. Would waiting for my urine to be clear even be helpful in this case, or am I doomed either way?

Without commenting on stupidity of using illegal substances while in another country, what should I keep in mind or prepare for going forward?
