  1. In that case you may want to check with the consulate exactly when a visa will be available.

If the wait is going to be a long one you can apply for a V class Visa.

INS Implements ‘V’ Nonimmigrant Provision of the LIFE Act

WASHINGTON –– The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) implemented the new V nonimmigrant status to allow certain spouses and minor children of lawful permanent residents to reside and work in the United States while waiting to obtain immigrant status. This provision is one of several immigration benefits provided by the Legal Immigration Family Equity Act (LIFE Act), enacted on December 21, 2000.

Hope they tell you your number is coming up soon and sorry for the confusion.

  2. I called my country us embassy today, the human told me that my case have just came there, but I have to wait about a priority date, that they almost are ther with it. She told me that my priority date was July 9 88 but I think she got confused because if the priority date is the date that Inmigration received my case, it was on 98 so?? cuould you tell me what is a priority date?? it is on the date that inmigration received the case or iis another date. please!!!

She told me that I have to wait and in some time the embassy would sent a letter to my lawyer putting my interview date, what does it mean?? please!! help me!!

From reading your previous posts, it seems your husband filed a I-130 on your behalf and you should'nt have a priority date. You might want to contact your embassy and clarify that the information on your petition is correct.

Hope things work out for you.

  3. Hello, everyone! The same as others here filing petition before this upsetting law we're somewhere between PRE-IMBRA cases and IMBRA ones. We filed at the Texas Service Center, then they moved our case to CSC. Received date of NOA1 is 28th of Feb, Notice date is 6th of March! (Huhhh, what a luck! Then it was not so bad to get NOA2 in just 55 days in CSC - 1st of May. And that's all. 2 months of waiting and no news neither from CSC nor NVC till last Saturday when we received SECOND NOA2 (without any RFE!) dd 26th of June. They are really don't know what are they doing there...

Is anyone here with the same situation here withour RFE and second NOA2?

Texas, you're so right in telling that about these stupid guys... no information by phone, online, from NVC... nothing... just wait! That's all? It GOT US.

    Good luck to everyone waiting!

    Mari

The reason you didnt get a RFE is because the service centers process by received dates not notice dates.

    Congratulations on your NOA2!!!

Hope the rest of the process goes by quickly for you.

  4. You can also contact Canadian Immigration on how to change status from student to a visitor.

According to their website obtaining a Temporary Resident Visa by switching from student to visitor status is easy to do.

    1 888 242-2100

This would give you permission to remain in Canada while awaiting your visa approval.

If you are approved before your expiration date in Dec, you can ask the consulate to expedite your appointment based on your current visa's expiration date as well.

Hope things go quickly for you!

  5. I just got two emails that said my I130 has been transferred from VSC to CSC too. What's going on???

Thought maybe you might want to add Dinu to your list as well so thats five so far.

Read a couple of k-1's from texas got sent to Vermont.

Looks like they're shuffling things around to try to handle all the backlog.

Hopefully this wont hurt us all as CSC is already so slow at processing anything.

  6. You can have your spouse's surname added to your passport after you marry for a fee of $12.

This is advisable for when you do AOS.

You can apply for your updated passport from the States.

The form you need to download is pptc140.pdf from the ppt.gc.ca site.

Hope that helps and good luck!!

  7. Update....

Well I called an spoke to someone who was extremely nice.

He filled in the registration numbers himself from the birth certificates and said there will be no problems with my application.

The wait times for a passport is running high right now because they were recently flooded with applications but at least I know I'll get them at some point.

Oh he also said getting the passport in my married name wont be a problem as I encluded my marriage certificate.

They were familiar with the problem of id being in maiden names because of Quebec policy.

So yesterday was definately a good day!

So now to wait for my drivers license and passports in the mail then back to Canada to wait out this horrid visa process.

  8. I'm going to try calling again tomorrow and see if I have better luck.

After all the hundreds of photocopies I've made lately I can't believe I didnt copy these. I have copies of the applications but not the birth certificates, how dumb is that.

I would have applied in person but Im currently in the states.

Hopefully the person tomorrow will be more reasonable and if not I'll try calling my local MP.

All info on our petitions is in my married name so I need the passport to reflect that.

After dealing with my sons American passport I can't believe how hard it is to get a Canadian one.

Including mailing time it was 7 days for my sons.

    No guarantors or references needed.

Heres hoping tomorrow is a better day.

  9. Okay Im having real problems getting mine and my daughters passports.

I filled out the paperwork and left the registration number and date of issues for our birth certificates blank with the plan of checking the certificates and filling that part out after I finished the passport applications.

Well I forgot to go back and enter that information in.

So yes this all started because of my error, Im not saying this part is anyone elses fault.

The problem now is Passport Canada has requested I refill out the two pages with the missing information and send it back to them to complete my passport application.

The numbers I need are on the birth certificates that they have. They will not tell me the numbers over the phone so I have no way of giving them the information.

The gentlemen (used very loosely) I spoke with said if I dont return the requested forms after about a month or so the application will be rejected and sent back to me.

He said I cannot request them to be sent back now that I have to follow the proper procedures.

Second problem is they are saying they will not submitt my passport in my married name because all my id is in my maiden name. Unfortunately I live in Quebec so all my id has to be in my maiden name.

And yes I attached a copy of my marriage certificate with the application.

He suggested applying in my maiden name, getting a US drivers license and then applying to have my name changed to my married name.

With everything that is happening it looks like all this will take over 6 months.

    Does this sound right?

I had a very hard time explaining anything to him because his english was very poor.

I asked if I could speak to someone that could speak better english and he said no, his english was fine.

Any advice on how I get the birth registration information that they have to be able to send it back to them?

Really stumped why they cant just read the darn documents in front of them.
