  1. We were approved :dancing:

I literally felt the weight lift off of my shoulders. The interview was so incredibly easy, the only bad thing was having to wait 2 hours on an empty stomach - totally my fault because I couldn't eat breakfast due to the nerves. They asked super basic questions...when/where did we get married, what our plans are for the nearest future, if either of us has ever been divorced and that was it.

The CO said to pick up passport in 5 days....so now what? I keep worrying that we will get AP or something since I have read about that on here. how would one know if everything is going smoothly? CEAC still appears as "ready" but it has only been 1 day.

I am so happy but still have this unsettling feeling in my stomach. I won't truly believe it until we officially move to the US at the end of the month. Fingers crossed that everyone works out.

And I wish everyone else good luck, listening to the CO say congratulations your visa has been approved made all of this stress worth it. Your time will come soon!

On a small side note there were 2 people who were also there for residency visas but had done everything through an attorney. I am so incredibly thankful that we decided to do everything ourselves. Both of them were given slips because they didn't have all of their required documents and were told that their process would be severely delayed due them not having the correct documents and translations.

Nothing beats endless hours of research on Visa Journey :jest:

    Congratulations!!!

I have my interview on the 20th of July and I have done everything through an attorney, do you know anything more about why the two people's applications were delayed? Do you happen to know which documents they were missing? Would you mind directing me to a list of the necessary documents that you used so that I can double check I have everything? I'd really appreciate it!

  2. immigration messed ours up as his country does day first, then month

go with what you have and don't strees

after you get the visa, get it corrected to bring a corrected copy to the US, actually bring a copy of orignals for your own needs

Hello, thanks for your reply. Can I just clarify, you are saying that your husbands birthday was wrong on your marriage certificate at the time of his interview and that it wasn't a problem?

(We write the date as dd/mm/yyyy here too. I always find the difference more confusing that it ought to be.)

  3. Hello,

my birthday is wrong by one day on our marriage certificate. I asked my lawyer about this months ago and she said that it shouldn't be a problem. However I asked again a few days ago and she said that to be on the safe side perhaps we ought to get a new corrected certificate.

I just had my medical exam yesterday and have my interview in 3 weeks. In order to get the new certificate in time for my interview it is going to be very expensive and we're already on a very tight budget after everything we've already had to pay for. So I'm trying to get any advice as to whether it could be an issue or not.

I'd really appreciate any input, advice or help asap, thank you! very much!

  4. Yes it makes a difference for CR1 going through NVC. Your processing and interview selection is all done at NVC. You do not fill in and submit the online Readiness for Interview form. NVC knows you are ready because they have seen your forms and documents. K1s fill out an online readiness form where they give their word they have all their documents for the interview because nobody looks at them beforehand.

This is the form for K1s and CR1 DCF applicants )not you) https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/notification-of-applicant-readiness-form/

This is where you can check your status https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

    That's great. Thank you!

  5. I received notification from my lawyer on the 15th of June that I have my interview date set at the embassy in London for the 20th of July. I have my medical tomorrow and thought I had everything ready, however I'm only just reading about this "notification of readiness" or online statuses being set to "ready". Where to I log in to check this status? How much of an issue will it be if my status is not set to ready? (I am applying for a CR1 visa, not a K visa, does that make a difference?) I'd really appreciate any help with this asap, thank you!

Ah, okay. I think I've found it. Is this (see attachment) what I need? Does this mean that my documents are at the embassy in London?

  7. Yes. That printout is okay. Four UK size photos are okay for the medical. They accept either size.

Looks like you only lack Tdap for the shots.

Well, I have had the Tetanus and Diphtheria vaccinations, I'm just missing Pertussis. Some people have said that they got through without having to the TDaP just for Pertussis, but others haven't. So I guess we'll just see on the day.

    Thanks for your help.

  8. Okay, so I have my medical exam on Tuesday and just want to check a couple of things.

On the website it says to bring "Vaccination records, with original certification", Im not sure what it means by "original certification". I went to my doctor and asked for a copy of my vaccination history and they just printed it out for me. I have attached a picture of what I was given, will this be okay?

Secondly, the passport photos that I need to take, do they need to be US dimensions or will UK ones be okay?

    Thank you for your help.

  9. You need to give them a "history" on a check list? Do out have cancer? Do you have heart problems? Have you had any surgery? Have you done drugs? But you do not take copies of your medical files. They never see those. If you have had any particular issues or take meds, then they likely want your doctor to write a brief report telling them about it. He does not copy and send the medical files.

Oh, okay. That's great, thank you.

  10. Here's the clinic website with lots of information. http://www.visamedicals.info/us.asp

They answer their phone and can help, unlike USCIS or the embassy. Ring them up and and ask your questions about pertussis. Theoretically, yes you need pertussis if you have no record of a dose anytime in your life. Will they sign you off with just Td...maybe. I think they have for others. When my husband went under previous staff (2008), they were hard line, specifically on pertussis. They told him he needed the full tetanus/diptheria/pertussis because he hadn't had it as a child.

Thanks. I did find an old thread on here with lot's of people saying they got through the London clinic with only a Td. But that thread was a few years old so it may be different now. I'll call them and see.

  11. 1. Yes

    2. £250 for a K1 (more for vaccinations)

Damn it. I don't suppose there is any difference in price if it's for a CR1? Thanks for the info, Tom169.

I've had my vaccinations for tetanus and diphtheria, but not for pertussis. Will I need to get the Tdap shot (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) when I have my examination?

  12. Those emails from NVC are a hit or miss. Not everyone receives them that's why everyone on here says to be proactive and call them to confirm they received your documents and find out your scan date.

When I was going through NVC, they said it takes 30-45 days to review but they were catching up so it was almost always 30 days. they must be backlogged even more so they are saying 6 weeks which is around the 45 day mark. Hang in there. I know the waiting sucks but your CC is coming soon.

    Cheers pal.

Does anybody know the answer to my questions about what happens after I get my CC? Is everything sent to the Embassy who schedule my appointment, or does it stay with the NVC until my appointment is scheduled?

  13. I just spoke to the NVC, I think maybe they're in a busy period they've had our AOS and IV docs for 35 days and we never received any confirmation from them. Anyway, they have them and are processing them. The lady said that they have 6 weeks to check the documents, everywhere I have read says either 30 days or 2-4 weeks. Oh well, at least we should hear back in the next week.

Once the NVC confirms the docs are okay (fingers crossed) does it then get sent to the embassy who set the interview date or does it stay at the NVC?
