  1. I'm a USC living in the UK with my wife. We've filed both the I-130 and I-129F using her sister's address in the US as our US address. I might be going back before her now and getting another address in the US. Do we need to change address with the USCIS if I do this (we could still receive mail at her sister's), or would we just put in the new US address on future forms? Would it create some kind of discrepency if we had one address on the petitions and another address on the forms later on? If we need to notify them once I'm at the new address, what's the correct way to go about doing this?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  2. Question #11 asks if you've ever filed for this spouse before. Is this referring to filing an I-129F before, or any type of filing? We filed an I-130 back at the beginning of July, so do we answer "yes"? If so, for place and date of filing, do we put the service center we filed with and the date we signed the forms, or date we mailed them? Also don't know what to put for A# and result.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  3. I want to register for email alerts so that we can observe our "touches" but have a few questions. What's the difference between customer register and representative register? When registering it asks for city, country/state, and postcode. Do they want our current city and postcode (which is outside the US) or the city, state, and postcode of where we'll be living in the US upon approval? We are currently in the UK and were told to send our I-130 to the California Service Center, as this was where my last US address was, so do they want my UK city and postcode or my California address here?

    Thanks,

  4. Firstly, do not be overwhelmed - just take baby steps! ;)

I was in the same boat - we couldn't DCF either. You will now have to file the I-130 at a USCIS. You will need a US address to receive the NOA's, so you will need to see if you can use a friend or relative's address. (I used my old US address & had my ex roommate email me my NOA's. You cannot have a forwarding order on the address you use though, as the Gov't will not allow their mail to be forwarded. I had to cancel my forwarding order from the USPS.) Anyway...after you get your first receipt notice (NOA1) then you will also have the option of filing for the K-3 spousal visa. However, you may want to wait and see how those are going - ours went through fairly quickly but there seems to be a bit of a backlog now so it may not be so quick.

The best thing you can do is check on other people's timelines listed on this forum. I found a few people that had filed their I-130 and I-129f a few weeks before us and watched their timelines closely. The timelines are an invaluable tool!

You should get the I-130 off as quickly as possible. Then once you have received that NOA1 you can figure out your next move. Good luck, and remember that there are tons of us going through this too - you're not alone! :P

    Thanks.

I've got a US address I can use. When filling out question B2, regarding address, on the I-130 form do I put this US address or my current UK address? Also, on the form G-325A, regarding residence, for present residence do I put this US address or the UK one?

  5. For file number i believe you put NONE(unless you have one) and i believe the address would depend on the visa you want to do. How long is left on your visa for here? Have you looked into DCF?

I don't think I can go the DCF route as I only have limited leave to remain and read that the US embassy in London won't process I-130's for people with limited leave to remain. I'm a little confused now about what exactly I'm supposed to do as both my spouse and I are living in the UK.

  6. I've just started looking into this and am already overwhelmed.

I'm a US citizen who married my wife (UK citizen) in London in May. We are both currently living in London and I have a limited leave to remain visa in the UK as a spouse. We would like to move back to the US within the next 6 months. I've read that we won't be able to apply through DCF as I've only been living in the UK for 6 months, and only had my spousal visa for a month now. What do we have to do now? Do we need to apply through the US? Which office do we apply to if neither one of us are currently living in the US?

  7. Thanks for the info.

    Two more questions:

    1) Regarding the residence section, I'm an American living in the UK on a residence visa for the last 6 months now, but I've also kept a US address during this time. I receive mail at both addresses. Which address should I put down as my current address?

    2) What goes in the File number section (the one with an A) at the top of the G-325A form?

    -Mike

  8. I'm a US citizen currently living in London with my spouse, who's a UK citizen. We are wanting to move back to the US and are starting with the I-130, and I'm already finding this confusing. Regarding the G-325A and the applicant's residence section, do I fill out my residence for the last 5 years on my form and her residence on her form, or do we list her residence on both? Similarly with the employment, how should this be filled out? Also, what is an Alien Registration Number, do we need one for this form, and how do we go about obtaining one if we do?

    Thanks,

    Mike
