  1. I'm getting the same error for my I-485. However the I-131 and I-765 load as normal. I called the USCIS help line and when I input my case number it said the number was not recognised, I spoke to a person and they said they would get a Tier 2 to call me back in the next 3-5 days. Having now seen this post I now suspect it's an error on their end. I've been checking my case on the site a couple times each week for the past 6 months and this is the first time it's happened. Made me panic when I first saw it!

hello i also just called them today and i was told the same, have you gotten a response now or still waiting

No, I haven't had a response for anything. The only thing that's happened is I got an automated email from the time I called them in December. I got the email on Feb 7th and it just said 'The status of your service request is: Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of action shortly'. But I haven't heard anything since.

I was thinking of calling again to ask what's going on. But I'm not sure if I should bother because I don't know if they'll be any help.

Also the Tier 2 person I spoke to last time was pretty rude so that kind of puts me off. How long have you been waiting?

  3. I am still waiting too. I sent off I-485, with I-765 and I-131 end of August, had my biometrics in Sept. Phoned up in December about the EAD and got told I'd have a response within 30 days. Still not heard anything so called up thismorning and got transferred to Tier 2, the guy told me they're currently processing EADs for June 30th so I'll just have to wait longer!! Not sure whether to believe him, but I'm getting pretty worried now.

  4. I entered the US on a K1 visa in June, got married and filed I-485, I-131 and I-765 a couple weeks back. Yesterday I received 3 NOA1s in the mail (one for each of the forms) and I noticed that they've changed my alien number. Each of the 3 NOA1 letters has the same alien number on, however it is a different number to the one I was given for my K1.

Is this normal or do I need to call up to get it sorted out? I wasn't sure if I keep the same alien number forever, or if it's normal for them to change it.

I filled all the forms out with my new surname but put in my maiden name where required. Could the changed number be because my surname has changed??

    Thanks for any replies :)

  5. I had my K1 interview in London today and just wanted to say I self sponsored and was approved with roughly $35k. I took bank statements from the last 4 months as evidence, plus a letter explaining my SO and I's financial situation and assets. The first guy I spoke to glanced at the letter for no more than 3 seconds and said that it was fine, he took all the evidence but didn't look at any of it. When I was called up to the window for the second time I was served by a lady who asked me a brief question about how much my SO makes, I showed her a letter from his employer and last years W-2. After that she said we were approved!

I hope this information can help someone as I know there isn't much info about self sponsorship.

I'm not sure if you've already sorted flights, but thought i'd add my two cents.

I flew out on January 31st from Manchester to Omaha with a stop in Atlanta (there are no direct flights to Omaha). I return was £450 and a single was over £1,000, so I opted for the return as I was saving £500+ so a no brainer.

I rang Expedia two days ago to cancel the return leg, and my only ask was that they did not charge a cancellation fee. I received an email yesterday saying I can expect a refund of £80 (this may be taxed) in the next week or so, which was a nice surprise. Returns definitely appear cheaper, and as long as you cancel the flight, there is no problem in doing that.

If you book a return flight (with the intention not to use it), do/could they get funny at border control and question why you've booked to return when you have a K1 visa? I am also planning on booking return flights but this was my only worry.

  7. Thankyou very very much, this is really interesting and definitely seems like a good option for us. I had no idea about self sponsoring at London. I'll look into it more, however it sounds like I should have enough money to do this. :)

  8. Thismorning my SO and I's cosponsor decided he doesn't want to cosponsor us for the K1 anymore (even though he said yes 3 months ago) my heart feels somewhat like it's been ripped into millions of pieces and stomped on. But hey, we'll power through somehow.

We have not sent in our I-129F petition yet, but we have been compiling it and should be ready to send off in a few weeks.

Anyway, I just want some advice on whether or not we will be able to petition without the help of a cosponsor.

My Fiance (US petitioner) earns over the 100% required for the K1 visa, however earns $800 under the amount required for the AOS, which is why we originally thought to play it safe and get a co sponsor. My Fiance does not have any assets he can use to make up the difference, and his bank balance is quite low. Also his taxes from 2015 do not meet the requirements for K1, however they will do when he does his taxes for 2016.

Is the beneficiary allowed to use their assets for the K1? I can't see anything on the Instructions for the I-134 about using the beneficiaries assets.

I have £20,000+ in a savings account, I can get bank statements and a letter from my bank to prove that the money is mine. I intend to use these assets for when we apply for the AOS in the future, as the I-864 states that the intending immigrants assets can be used.

I (the beneficiary) am from the UK and will have my interview in London when it comes to it. I have heard that London is not very strict when it comes to the Affidavit so does anyone know whether they'd approve a visa in our current situation without a co-sponsor? And if they'd let me use my assets?

My SO will be looking for another cosponsor, however we don't really have anyone else to ask so I'm not sure we'll be able to find one.

I'm so frustrated because he is so close yet so far from earning over the required amount :(

Any advice or previous experiences would be much appreciated, thankyou

  9. Me (UK) and my fiance (USA) are gathering things together for our I-129F petition. We originally met on Omegle 2 and a half years ago and have met in person 3 times since.

I've read about some people getting RFE's because they haven't proven the website they met on is not an IMB.

We were going to include the Omegle Terms and conditions to avoid a possible RFE, however Omegles terms are incredibly short and do not mention anything about IMB's. Plus there is no way to contact them to ask for proof they are not an IMB, they have no email or address or numbers to call.

As a result I'm not really sure how to move forward. I'm worried that if we got an RFE for this reason I would have no way of proving that Omegle is not an IMB.

I was thinking of putting the Terms and Conditions in anyway, or maybe writing a brief description of what Omegle is?

Does anyone have any advice on what I should include, or if I should include anything at all?

(For anyone who doesn't know, omegle is a chat site where you don't have to sign up or create a profile, it just matches you with a random stranger to talk with)

    Thanks for any help!

  10. London is very easy going when it comes to the affadavit. Do you or your fiance have any assets you could add? Might he get a better job or promotion by the time you need the I-134 (which is at interview, so some 6+ months away)?

Any US citizen or greencard holder living in the USA can be a co-sponsor; they need not be related or live near where you will be living.

I have money in a savings account which would be enough, however does it not need to be my US fiance who has the assets which can be added?

I don't know much about using assets for the affidavit. If I could use the money in my savings account what proof would be needed. I'm guessing a letter from my bank showing when I opened the account etc, and also a statement?

  11. Me and my fiance are planning on applying for the K1 in the coming months and I'm currently trying to get my head around the Affidavit of Support.

I have a couple questions as the more I read the more confused I seem to get!

Firstly, are the Poverty Guideline income requirement amounts based on earnings before or after tax?

My fiance has a full time job and earns over the 100% required for the K1 Visa but under the 125% required for the AOS. I read that some consulates are very strict and only issue the K1 if the petitioner earns over 125%. When the time comes I will be having my interview in London, I heard they are one of the more relaxed embassies, however should we get a co sponsor just to be safe?

This brings me to my next question, my fiance doesn't have a large family so finding a co sponsor may be a bit tricky. If needed, we were going to ask his father to cosponsor, but due to family reasons he may not be able to. If this happens my fiances roommates step-father might consider co sponsoring. Would this be ok? I read that the cosponsor doesn't have to be a relative, but again I read that the consulates can be strict and prefer the cosponsor to have close ties to the US petitioner.

I hope all that makes sense! This is my first time posting here so I hope I've done everything correctly, and thanks for any replies :)
