  1. Congrats! That's wonderful! Just a question, did you have to update your DS-160 application after one year? My fiancé called DOS, and they said the DS-160 may expire after one year.

My medical expired as well, so we are in the process of arranging everything to send into them. Hopefully our visa will get issued quickly after the new documents get delivered.

Hi everyone, I am just wondering if anyone here has recently either gotten any response from the e-mail you sent (IV email at the Montreal consulate) or the visa was approved and received your passport in the past month or so?

I've been waiting for a month now, and seems like nothing has been processed... and I have to fly to USA in 3 weeks...

I am extremely frustrated, because the officer who interviewed us said that I should be receiving my visa within 4 weeks.... :clock:

  2. The 1 year validity thing is for the NVC before you get an interview.

The medical expires after 6 months. That's why the visa only allows you 6 months to enter the USA and why you have to have a passport with at least 6 months validity.

Are you not from Canada originally?

I immigrated from China when I was 10. Apparently they will not treat me as a Canadian native Even if I came here as a child. But it's frustrating that my case always sits for 6 weeks after they have received our additional documents. And they always find something else missing by that time, so more delays

  3. We started our K-1 visa I-129 petition mid August 2015

    DS-160 15 Oct 2015

    Medical 07 Dec 2015

    Interview 08 Jan 2016

It's been almost a year and we had our medical expire and was asked to repeat it, which is going to delay us by at least two months.

does anyone have any experience with validity of DS-160 and the police report? When should I re-submit these documents to avoid more delays?

  4. Hi Leej91, yes I went to Montreal for the interview on June 7th, and the date on my status was updated June 13th (when they received my document) and was also updated on June 26th (a Sunday...weird). Lets hope we hear from them soon....this will be my 5th week in AP

the end is near! They always started reviewing my documents 6 weeks from when they received it.

I think it depends on the reviewer. As you see some people get their docs reviewed sooner, but it was never a day before week 6 when they work on my application, and never on a weekend.

  5. Okay, just got email from Consulate - medical has expired :(

Question - is there a validity to your entire application? I read in one of the forums that if your application goes on pass one year, it will get cancelled, and you have to start over again. Does anyone have any experience with that?

This waiting game is absolutely outrageous! No one should have this much power over other people's lives. They don't understand that people put their lives on hold while waiting for these visas.

they only tell you something is missing after you have waited for 6 - 8 weeks, and during that time, the application is just sitting there.

  6. Medical exams are only valid for six months, according to travel state website. Is there any chance to have visa in hand even after six months validity of medicals?

Are you sure it's only valid for six months? Do you mind sharing the direct link to that information? I thought it was valid for a year, seeing how long it takes to issue these visas

  7. Hello,

I'm actually a bit worried because after five months AP, I was told to send my passport and now after two weeks it's still in AP status. Please share your experience if you are in the same boat. I am not sure how long it takes usually.

    Thanks

I'm in the same boat. After being in AP since January, I was finally told to send in my passport on May 31st. It's been 3 weeks now, and despite sending them 4 emails, I still have no response. Don't even know if my passport has been forwarded to my reviewer or it's just sitting in the mail room.

The waiting is driving me crazy!!! My guess is that it depends on the type of visa but also your reviewer. When I sent in my additional documents last time, I was told to wait for 8 weeks. My case was not touched until the last two weeks of that wait period, and then I could see it was worked on almost everyday, until May 31st which was when I got the email asking for passport. I think my reviewer is a procrastinator that likes to do things very last minute. So I guess I shouldn't expect to hear anything until second week of August... :crying::crying::crying:

  8. I would send it, I guess you still could wait up to 8 weeks for them to process and return it, but meanwhile you have to think of when all of his medical, police check etc are going to expire. I would send it with the cover sheet etc like when you sent the additional sponsor info. If you are not 100% sure you want to do that then email the general email and hopefully someone will respond quickly. But as NLR says, they're not going to send you a visa that's not attached to a passport, so it's got to get to them one way or another.

Just to confirm, the consulate would not ask for the passport? You just have to know when to send it to them? And it's another 8 weeks of waiting for them to stamp the passport?

  9. Had interview on Jan 8th. Told missing two documents to support name change. VO said everything else looked good. As long I send in required docs, they're not going to make this difficult. Didn't keep my passport though. Missing documents were finally received Apr 1st.

In AP for 56 days now. They said it would take 8 weeks of processing. Been checking CEAC frantically all day, last status update May 25th... Still waiting

  10. In limbo...document confirmed to have been received by Montreal on Apr 1st. Tomorrow will be the the 8 week mark they asked us to wait for processing.

After reading all these posts, it seems to be that i shouldn't be hopeful that our status will change out of administrative processing.

I'm Canadian citizen by naturalization. I immigrated from China (how's China and US getting along these days?), but I was 10 years old. How does that make a difference?!

  11. Your 8 weeks starts counting from the last document they received.

Question - what's this thing about sending back passport? I was missing two documents at my interview, so my interviewer didn't take my passport at that time. Does this mean once my visa get approved, I will have to mail or deliver my passport to the Consulate to receive my visa? More delays!! :crying:

  12. Had my interview on Jan 8th, 2016. Interviewer said I needed two more documents as my birth certificate and passport has different names. Everything else was in order and they won't make this difficult as long as I can gather the documents. Last document was received on 01-Apr-2016.

Kindly note we received your document on April 1st, 2016 and it has been forwarded for review. We ask that applicants allow for 8 weeks of processing time from the day we receive the documents at post. As soon as we have an update on the status of the case we will gladly inform you.

Our CEAC status has been in administrative process since my interview, which was as expected with the missing documents. But now it will be 8 weeks since last document was received. Status showed case was touched on May 16th.

Getting very anxious! How much longer is this going to take?

Anyone else in same boat or had similar experience? What was your wait time?
