Of course like an idiot I sent the originals back to them without making copies (my bad).. They read like this :
In order to establish the eligibility of the benefit for your stepdaughter, we need to prove that your wife's previous husband had passed away prior to her marriage to you. The translation you submitted has a date of ###### of his death and a date of ##### for acknowledgement of his death. Could you please have a new translation done and submit it to our office.
I had the translation done with the same results of course (different company). Had the attached letter stating they were true and valid translations. The time difference was one day. The family member has 24 hours to go to the district office and report the death. They then issue the certificate. I researched this custom or legal practice on the internet and it is indeed the case. For births it is 15 days to register and marriages are at the discretion of the couple. Maybe they couldn't believe a country operated that way. My wife is from a very rural part of Northern Thailand. They still speak Lao and Thai there.

Does anyone know how to prove that life events are the responsibility of the family to register at the district offices in Thailand.. Got an RFE that the event date and acknowledgement date didn't match

I have since moved and both of my marriages are in different states. Are they really necessary for the interview?

It states in the paperwork requirements for the counsel in Thailand that they require marriage certificates from my previous marriages. These documents are long gone and are very difficult to obtain in the US. I have all the divorce certificates. Doesn't getting divorced have the prerequisite of being married before?

I am an US citizen and my wife is Thai. The question I have is it ok to fill out and submit her DS-260 on line for her. She is a smart woman but is terrible with paperwork.
