  1. Hi all! I just checked my husband's I-485 status online and saw that as of yesterday it says he's ready to be scheduled for an interview. We went to Detroit for his biometrics appointment, so I assume that's where we'll go for the interview as well. Is there any place where we can get an estimate based on the office of how long it will take for that to happen? I'm still in K-1 mode, where everything is embassy-specific, so I'm not sure how much things vary from office to office within this country...

    Thanks so much!

  2. Hi everyone, hoping someone can offer me some advice/peace of mind.

My fiance's visa interview is at the end of the month. I am in the States now, and have been for a couple months. Before I left Turkey, my dad (who will be my co-sponsor) sent his I-134 and supporting documents to us. We never got them. Since I've been back, my dad has given me another copy of the same application/documents, and I've sent those as well. I got the same estimate (7-10 days) at the post office, and...you guessed it. They haven't arrived yet either. The closer the interview date gets, the more concerned we are. My dad is offering to send a digital copy, with a digital signature. Does anyone have recent experience with this sufficing?

My other questions is about my own sponsor application. I was a teacher in Turkey, but after coming back to the States, I'm working as a contractor/self-employed. I'm unsure what to put on my application as my occupation, since I don't yet have tax returns to show that I'm self-employed, and I sure don't want to wait until April to get them. I realize this question will be more or less a moot point once my dad's sponsorship documents are in-hand, but I'll take any advice I can get. This wait for the interview has been longer than expected, and I don't want to do anything to prolong it further.

    Thanks, all!

  3. coneyisland, what's the update on your visa? Ours left NVC just a few days ago and is still on its way to Ankara. Did the embassy contact you after they received it? Did you wait for them to contact you to schedule your interview or were you able to do it online? And have you mailed any documents to them or are you bringing everything to the interview? Sorry for all the questions - I'm flying out of Turkey next month and I'm trying to double check all the steps my fiance will need to follow in my absence :)

  4. A friend of mine flew through Atatürk airport a day or two ago and said it was business as usual. As others have already said, that doesn't mean it'll necessarily be the same by the time you're flying through. I'll be connecting in Istanbul (with less than two hours to switch from domestic to international and go through security again - yikes!) when I finally return to the States in September. Hope things go smoothly for both of us - good luck to you!

  5. Hi all,

I've been doing some intense lurking on this site for the last week or so, searching out all the answers to my I-129F questions, and now I must stop hiding in the shadows and say hi and thank you! It is in the mail today, and the waiting game begins!

Anyone out there with recent experience processing a K1 in Ankara?
