This is certain to happen to you and your American born kids for life. The response the woman gives and the way she turns the tables on him though is priceless and something I think everyone should do to put the shoe on the other foot. smile.png

  2. My wife just became a US citizen 2 weeks ago. Right after her swearing in, we asked them at the USCIS what forms we need and how long it will take to bring her sister here. They asked where she was from and I said "philippines" Then he said "oh boy, there is a long wait" When I asked how long, he said that people who applied for visas in 1989 are just now getting their visas. I'm not 100% sure he looked at the right one though. The paper he was looking at was coded "F4" so I'm hoping he misread those codes or something. Does anyone know if petitioning a sibling from philippines is really that long of a wait, and is there another way around it if it is that long a wait?(other than getting married to a US citizen?)

I was just at an immigration attorneys website and it said, depending on what service center, that petitioning a sibling only takes between 5 months to 7 years.

  3. So my wife just got her drivers license in the mail last night. And right now at this very second, she is out on her own in my car for the very first time. She was very nervous this morning about going out on her own even though she has had her permit for almost a year. But i have to say, even though i know she can drive, I too am a little nervous now. I wonder if my car will come back home in one piece! :) I feel like a parent that just let their kid take off in the car for the first time. Luckily she is only going to the grocery store which is a drive she has done several times, so i dont think i have to worry too much.

How long did you wait for the license card to arrive in the mail? I passed my behind-the-wheel exam last Nov 3, 2008. I haven't received the card yet.

Don't worry about your wife, sometimes being alone makes us [all wives behind the wheel] more confident about things we do. We need to be independent from time to time. :)

Give us a break, will you husbands?! :jest::jest::jest:

Just took my test last Nov. 18..when we came back after 1 week from vacation it's already in the mail. I hope you got yours soon and you can enjoy driving just by yourself :)

  4. Congratulations :star:

I wonder why our husbands are afraid of us wives on the driver's seat?

I had to enroll in an Adult Driving School because my husband's nerves are always on the edge when I'm behind the wheel.

I can tell you why. Because right after my wife got her permit, she crashed the car in a ditch. Then to make matters worse, It started raining while i was waiting for a tow. :(

  5. This is Andrerw's wife. I'm back safely home with car intact :D. Can't wait to drive more around just by myself.

If you were my wife you wouldn't have any problem driving by yourself as I won't even ride with her. Just got the maximum insurance and turned her loose!

Thats sad. I tell you when I was tell in the PI 3 people taught me how to drive but I didn't learn how to drive at all even telling me that I don't have a future in driving. My hubby tried to teach me how to drive but he is so nervous when ever we are on the road already. Finally we decided to get me a drivng lesson that's when I learned how to drive with confidence and after that I practice with my husband. From that on I becpme more confident even drivng interstate.

Maybe you can get your wife a driving lesson.I know it's a bit expensive but its really worth it. Update us when she get her driving lesson.

  7. Hi Guys,

Just had my Medical Day 1 today and had the scare of my life when i had to repeat my X-ray 3 times. Had to pay additional 300 Php for that too. Anyways, the good news is that i think (?) they did not find any problems with my X-ray after the third time and asked me to continue the rest of my Medical Day 1. I'll be back tomorrow for Medical Day 2 and hopefully get positive results.

Anyone had the same experience? Was there any additional testing or problems on your 2nd day?

    Thanks!

I had the same experienced with you too. They told me that they found something abnormal in my first x-ray. The problem is they wont tell you exactly what is it. Just like you I took 2 more x-rays with 2 different position. If I remember right it was ( apico and left position) I just found out the result the next day and I was relief when I was directed to get my vaccine and my x-ray film.

I hope everything is OK with your X-ray. Good luck for the interview!

    Evelyn

  8. Dont worry, once you two are together I promise you will think the time flew by and you will say "wow our approval seemed so fast now that we remember it." I too was a CSC filer. It was about 8 months from first filing until my fiancee was in my arms again. I know what you mean though about those dang gone VSC filers. One time i saw someone saying they got their NOA2 10 days after they got their NOA1!!! Im like "what the ?"

  9. I just read you are from TZ so I tried to look it up and I couldnt find out how much english teachers make in TZ, but in Kenya they make 430 KS per hour (about 6 dollars and 41 cents per hour or 7800 TS per hour in your money) at the schools, so probably he could make a bit more in the private sector. I know not alot of money, but it's 10 times more than the average Tanzanian according to the CIA.

Eligibility to file a waivers for HIV+ aliens (those deemed inadmissble under INA 212(a)(1)(A)(1)) is possible under very limited circumstances

One condition is that you are the spouse of a USC

I hope that I could qualify for the slim chance...

He is a USC, very supportive and wants to be, till the end..

If he wants to be there until the end, there is no reason why he cant go to your country to live. I dont know what country you are from but its not hard to get a TEFL or TESOL certificate (i think it takes like 120 hours of classroom exp.)and he could teach english in your country. (Unless you are from like england or somewhere where they dont need english teachers.) Those teachers usually make 3 times or more what a normal teacher makes in the schools of that country and even more if he does private lessons for people. (I've seen that even in the poor countries americans making $10 per hour teaching private english lessons, while some countries like saudi arabia paying americans 3,000$ per month, but like i said i dont know what country you are from) It really does look like your lives are going to be dramatically affected by this and if he is serious about staying with you, he will pack up and leave his country to be with you, just like you were willing to leave your country to be with him.

Hope everything works out for you.

  11. This medical things is really confusing especially the TB skin test. Will sending my form tomorrow. The surgeon still give me a TB skin test even though I told him that I had my x-ray done back in my country and everything is ok, Got a Td shot and HIV test too. We paid $ 205 for everything.

  12. Just thought we'd mention this for anyone seeking a place to stay in Manila before the interview.

We are staying in the Boulevard Mansion which is on Roxas right accross from the embassy. We're staying a month and paying 25,000php. It is fairly quiet considering everything that goes on around here. We can't hear the clubs that line the streets below. The mall is a short walk or very brief taxi ride up the street. We'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Manila. We've been here a week already and have no complaints at all. The service is good, the room is clean and comfy and the air conditioner works great.

We stayed there too, a few times. Its really a great hotel as long as you are not on the lower floors. Floor 5 has cockroaches. Floors 10 and up are really good though. We stayed there 3 times and were pretty happy with the price and how close we were to robinsons, the embasy, the casino filipino and just a 100 peso taxi ride to the mall of asia (unless you get unmetered, then its double or more)

  13. My fiancee just came in thru SFO last night. Everything was easy. I think only the east coasters are hassled a bit. San Francisco has the largest Filipino population in the United States so I think everyone in San Francisco knows more than a few filipinos. Just at the airport, i was the only white american there. :) I felt almost like i was in philippines for a moment. I think the POE that people have the most problems with is Atlanta, GA But not 100% sure. SFO is probably the easiest. My fiancee (with k-1 visa) says the guy never looked at the visa and only asked how long she was going to stay (she said forever) That was pretty much it. Good luck :)
